Chapter 109 - Chapter 108: Mammon

Tānlán was angered as he dropped the rackets, rubbing the wounds he received from him and spitting a piece of blood out.

"Tch!…I can't even hold that much more…"

He held his side as he got back up, planning to avoid his grip at any cost. He would dash right back in, a close eye on the hands of Greed. Tānlán needed to end this quickly. He slid around Matsumi and started to send blasts of Mana towards his back, there was no time nor capacity for him to absorb any more energy from the three, and it was bad enough that the other two were plotting something as he spoke.

Eraba was already behind him as she grabbed him by the back of his head, before planting him straight into the concrete side walk. Revenge for her friend.

"Matsumi. I feel something is off. Please be careful!"

She jumped back as Tānlán laid there lifeless, his body still twitching a few times from Matsumi's attacks.

Miraculously, Matsumi managed to avoid most of the blasts. Except for one, which landed right on his back, sending him to the ground again. He painfully turned to Eraba's voice.

"What is it..?!"

There was a silence in the air as Eraba stood.

Tānlán was quiet.

Almost as if he were asleep.

Kibō turned to Matsumi.

"There's something else Matsumi. Everybody the sins use arent actually the real ones themselves!…It's-"

Tānlan interrupted Eraba's conversation as his power suddenly surged, the red aura engulfing the whole area.

Tānlán screamed as he held his head, his power growing more and more as Eraba, Kurai and Kibō blocked the force of his power with their forearms, sliding back in the process. He fell to his knees as he held his head wallowing in pain.

"It's the second form! I've seen this in the books! Matsumi! Get away from him now!"

Kibō tried to move towards Matsumi, but the waves were too strong for her small legs to push to him.

Matsumi tried to listen to them, but his body was frail. The young man was gifted, yes, perhaps more than even the most talented among others his age. But, he could barely take a hit standing up. That last blast pushed him right over his pain threshold, he couldn't move quickly enough away even if he wanted to. Nevertheless, he would drag himself away, getting on one knee to try and push himself up.

The aura formed and connected in front of Matsumi as the woman looked down on him.

"The second form: The true form of the sins! It's Mammon!"

Mammon looked down at Matsumi as he dragged himself. She bended over to get a glimpse of his face for a small bit.

"Youre the one who initiated this game. I've seen you before..Those eyes…You look just like him…"

"Oh...I know, and I haven't lost it yet."

Matsumi managed to get on his feet before tapping the gem once more, filling his body with mana to keep himself up.

"Not when I'm so close.."

The God Of Greed laughed in Matsumi's face as she crossed her arms, standing proud.

"Bring your calvary then. Let me sink my teeth and taste just how much you all want it."

Her power surged similar to Tānlán's did previously. Small black tentacles started to crawl behind her made of nothing but mana.

They grew, and grew, and grew, and grew in size until they were so massive that they were the size of some larger trucks back in the mortal world of Gaia. Her red and black mana poured out into the streets, evicting any normal person left in the city.

"I want it alright! This game's not over!"

He moved at high speeds for her tentacles, delivering a spinning kick to one of them. Mammon watched as the tentacles stretched and grabbed him, Eraba and Kurai holding them in the air and squeezing them. She laughed as the tentacles grew in for the one that Matsumi took out.

Matsumi just barely squirmed out of the tentacles grip right before it would start to squeeze. He would use his speed to run along the tentacles, having the weakened Trops to give him a bat. One that he would use to hit the tentacles coming his way in a way to defend himself.

Eraba focused while Matsumi defended against the title.

She closed her eyes and stayed still, letting Mammon's Mana consume her as she slowly moved her hand to hold it outwards.

Mammon's expression somewhat changed as Eraba's mana closed, using Matsumi's action the best way she could.

Something flew through the air as the tentacles Matsumi defended against were sliced and ripped apart. A scythe slammed into the palm of Eraba as she sliced her and Kurai free.

Mammon was rather annoyed they didn't just allow themselves to die in agony. The tentacles started to regenerate as Eraba landed on her feet to the left of Matsumi, and Kurai to the right.

"Hey. Why don't we show this 'god' what were really about Matsumi?!"

She hung the scythe over her shoulders.

Kurai watched Eraba and Matsumi's movements. The two had their own signature styles and weapons but not her necessarily.

She felt she needed more.

Her heart beat at the sounds of the tentacles regenerating, everything felt like a natural flow to her.

As if the space time continuum had halted and everything came to a stop.

Her eyes glowed as she looked on at the two, ready for war.

"Alright! I'm really feeling it now!"

Matsumi's mana welled up inside him as his

ability acted on its own imposing a certain rhythm for Matsumi to follow, and he was quick to chase after it.

He rushed forward, this time running directly at Mammon, his bat swinging through the air as he slammed it against more tentacles in his path.

Mammon watched at the end of the path of tentacles as Eraba trailed Matsumi, using one of her many weapons: Getih Naga.

An ancient scythe that Eraba had famously sold to the gods long ago in her move to the family's moon.

However, after the death and destruction of the Gods at the hands of the Tiluan, and the Queen of The Waterfall, her weapons managed to make their way into the seas of the mortal realm.

Most were collected by Toshiro Zenin to add to his own arsenal. However, one would not obey him no matter how much he did.

Getih Naga alone was a weapon that, even in its ownership and mere existence was considered a war crime. Mammon waited. She knew what weapons those were. What in the world?

The Backpack and Getih Naga?

Who are these children?

No matter. The God Of Greed's tentacles continued to spawn, engulfing and filling the entirety of the floor.

The floor was collapsing time and space the twelfth floor existed on in between the eleventh and thirteenth floor. The cloak of lightning surrounded the bat, Matsumi spun it around as he sped up, ducking and jumping over the tentacles until eventually he finally got close to Mammon.

His movements were getting sharper and more accurate, the ability that he still had no real knowledge of taking effect as always. Flashing forward with a small trail of mana following him, he slammed down with thunderous might on Mammon's head.

Mammon's head split from the attack as Eraba came in next, slicing away at her torso, destroying her mana tentacles and cutting her.

"T-Tch! To adapt to the spiritual pressure of this damned tower!"

Kurai moved through the destroyed tentacles and the black pools of mana beneath her feet, the stickiness didnt stop her from moving.

There was something going on in her mind of all things now.

Kurai was never one to overthink despite her large capacity for critical thinking, yet her mind had felt at the most chaos that it ever had felt up to that point.

Yet her eyes bled with blood from an angel.

Her crimson red eyes looked into Mammon as she was fading, struggling to recover from such a transfer from the vessel of Tānlán.

Something was forming in Kurai's hands as she moved, however the mana itself wasnt visible to anyone. Not even Mammon, an ancient god of the sins. She looked terrified as Kurai approached, now the roles had shifted.

Now everything was still for Mammon.

Kurai spoke, the red moon behind her as she moved once with an intangible object. Something Matsumi, Eraba and Kibō could not see for some reason.

"Menimienai kōgeki nanbāwan no ha."

In that moment thousands of slashes struck the God of Greed as she screamed.

The chemistry between the three was perfect, because their abilities all complimented each other. She had never seen such a trio like that in her life..not since-

"Damn you Desmunê! That face! Oh How I hate that face! I can see it in your eyes just as I saw his…The power you hold…That in of itself is a sin. You will pay for using that power you've been blessed with! I'll make sure of it! You and that man!"

Matsumi raised his bat once more, ready to finish her off with a smile on his face, he was just having so much fun...But he stopped himself after hearing her words.

"How do you know Old Man Desmunê?"
