Chapter 102 - Chapter 101: Feeling Dizzy

"Well it's like the towns that were around back in the day. At least where I lived."

Eraba followed him out and stretched a bit once again, looking around.

"I can't believe people seriously live here forever! Like they probably have no idea of the real world."

"If you can live somewhere where it's always peaceful and there's never battles why wouldn't you? Can't get sick or die..it's perfect for humans."

"I guess for some type of people…good for them. I think a few days ago I would've agreed more. But after everything I've seen now? No way. I want to see everything the world has to show me, every magic, every trick, every view, everything."

"That requires you to have to battle against the strongest forces in this world. Not everything is meant to be seen..if you want to uncover the secrets of this world there are enemies you're going to have to make."

"You think some lousy enemies are gonna make me take that back? I'd make enemies of anyone if it meant I could do it! Especially that hag in the palace! Putting in me in jail like that. It's getting me mad just thinking about it! And now I have to listen to some teachers for a whole year because of it! Ugh!"

"Well it might be good for you if you do go to school. You're still a rookie fighter and you don't know much about the world. Going to school for a while might be best for you, and it can give you an opportunity to become a traveler of some sorts. I wouldn't get too upset about it..You'll be alright."

"You think so? There's so many rules I gotta follow and stuff. Don't do this Matsumi, don't do that Matsumi! They're just nagging me all the time, all teachers do."

"Having rules can cause you to think outside of the box and do things differently than before. Things are never fun or exciting when they're easy…but they are when they're difficult and a challenge. My teacher taught me that a long, long time ago..Before I left my city."

"You left your city? Why because of the Akuma?"

"Nah. I went on a mission with my teacher and some things happened…After that I never returned."

"Some things? Must've been pretty bad if you just up and quit after it."

"…It wasn't really that bad. More so the fact that I felt the same as you…I didn't believe in the system and I went to discover the world for myself. That's one of the reasons why i'm the only Sāmatu left. I wasn't around for most of the warfare..I've only seen it in newspapers and through word of mouth."

"And you changed your mind after? Huh…well, you do you. I don't know who your teacher was, but if they made you change what you believed, why even bother with them? Were they really that good to begin with? Just forget about it and move on, not like they'd understand us anyway."

He put his hands behind his head as they walked, his way of talking here was indicative that he truly believed what he was saying, he wasn't joking around.

"I'm sure if Mr. Moon was here he'd say the same thing."

"My teacher never wanted me to leave. He wanted me to stay home and protect the family…Which was reasonable…but I always have visions because of the eyes of the Sāmatu…I saw possible realities that existed…I did not know for sure at the time because I was younger and I did not understand the nature of my eyes…Especially because of how different they were from everyone else's at the time to certain extents..I did what was best for me regardless of the visions. I wanted to meet new people..I wanted to explore…I chased my dreams. Nobody changed what I believed except for me..Nobody influenced my decision. The mission we went on was simply the catalyst for me leaving and parting from the village."

She walked aside him, unsure of who Mr. Moon was.

"People often make decisions based on what others want. They believe they're failing if they do not do things that appease the others that they admire in their life..but all that matters is what you want. Even when I came back and my family was gone I did not regret my decision..even if my family was harmed, me being there wouldn't have changed the political state my home, nor would I have been able to save them from all of them."

"See, you really are like me! Well…in a way, at least. I would've done things differently than you. I'll always choose what gives me the most fun. But, we follow what we want, whenever we want! What other way is there to live?"

"Some people believe differently. When you have responsibilities you can't just follow what you'd like at any time you want. When we become friends with others or lovers or anything else…It's hard to be selfish…Around that time I had a friend and a lover…Both lost their lives because of my selfish decisions. It's a nuanced thing. I understand your hedonistic desires to do what you wish, and perhaps you're not so corrupted that you would desire to harm others…but indirectly you do because of the kind of person you are..and although you may not see it now because you're Naive and you don't understand the world in its full scope..It may or may not hurt you in the future."

"But you just said that even if you followed what your teacher said, you couldn't have saved them. So what's the big deal?"

He turned to her, walking backwards as he spoke.

"It wasn't your fault, it was gonna happen anyway. Isn't that what your eyes said?"

"Of course…but that doesn't mean I didn't have to deal with the emotions that came after that. Just because something is inevitable, it doesn't mean you cannot feel that it's unfair. That's the beauty of the human spirit…That's why fate is such a great, but soul crushing thing…I believe that's why I want to find our techniques, our family members and our things…I want to change the fate of the Sāmatu…"

"Sure, I think I can get that. But what fate do you really wanna change? Now that you've met us, it's not like we're going anywhere soon."

"The fate that might lead to our doom…our extinction. I want us to flourish…and I want to build a family..A community…One that doesn't have to live in fear of anyone or anything."

"The extinction missed us once already, I think we're on the right track! We can be the coolest guys! I have to be the most awesome though."

"That'll be hard…there were some pretty awesome Sāmatu."

Despite the circumstances Eraba loved Matsumi's enthusiasm, she couldn't help but smile.

"But there's only ever been one Matsumi! Just wait, you'll see."

"You Idiot. Why don't you-"

Eraba stopped and looked on.

"Hey…Is it just me or does it feel strange right now?"

"A little bit, but isn't that just the magic around this place?"

"Hey look who it is!"

"Who?"

Urieru stood a few feet away from Matsumi, once again the being showing herself to the boy, a rather often occurrence by now. She examined Matsumi and Eraba, not flinching an inch.

"Ah!"

A little startled by her sudden appearance.

"What do you want now?"

"A new vision has come to me…I thought it would be right to show you young Matsumi…Now that you know about the eyes…I know that you too will see the same vision as me."

"Another one? Why do they change so much?"

"You are one of the Children of Destiny..and as someone who receives these visions it is my purpose to show you them."

"Isn't kinda weird if the visions change like- every day though?"

"I did not say anthing changed necessarily only that a new vision has come to me. However, if you have noo interest I will take my leave.."

"Hear her out Matsumi...This vision she speaks of could be something that we both don't know about."

"Okay, okay. Go ahead."

Urieru started to speak to Matsumi, however she was speaking complete gibberish and it was muffled. Matsumi could understand her less and less as she continued to speak. Eraba tried speaking to Matsumi as well, however she had the same effect. It was completely incomprehensible, almost as if the words were phased out.

He squinted his eyes in confusion.

"Umm…can you repeat that? I can't understand a thing you're saying."

The two continued to speak but the same result followed.

"Are you guys doing this on purpose? Stop messing with me!"

Matsumi's vision started to feel blurry as the two faded from his sight, and so did the eleventh floor. Only small remnants and fragments existed in his sight. The muffled talking continued.

"Huh?"

He rubbed his eyes to try and see a little better.

"What the heck?! Why's everything so dark? I can't see anything!"
