Chapter 36 - Chapter 36: Party

Matsumi stumbled outside with Vermelha, holding his head in pain. Vermelha looked toward the opposite team. "Glad to see you safe." She looked toward the other members past Raiden.

Raiden tilted his head and smiled to Tengoku and his team, happy to see them alive, the underlying question really was what was that chaos caused by? "I don't know… we've never had an attack like that here in Ashina. I saw two people that looked to be around our age though. One was a pretty woman and the other was a blonde guy with longer hair. I couldn't see much besides that."

"We'll keep on the lookout. I don't have a good feeling about that though. I mean in the middle of the game where it was a tie breaker? What a buzzkill on our competition." He smiled back.

"I hope you'll be preparing for the exams soon then. Now that it'll be basic one on ones, no gimmicks or games, i'm going to come ready to face you, and anyone who gets in the way of me winning."

Raiden nodded to Tengoku, finally seeing someone that could push himself besides being the son of Rai had almost made him excited. Something to finally aim for besides freedom. He still had a remaining question about the team of Yoshiwara as him and his brother had felt before.

"Someone on your team… they had a similar energy to me and my brother and… that's super weird… I don't know if you really know but we aren't necessarily fully human and as far as we knew we were of a dying race? The last two of that race besides our mother actually. I was wondering if you knew what that was about?"

Kasaru remained quiet as he listened to everyone speak, he spoke up as he cleared his voice, though all he did was relay what was on his mind to himself. "That seemed like a very targeted attack, I mean really... throwing a bomb into the middle of a teenagers tryout game? Whoever did this is one sick bastard." He stared onwards towards the building as evacuation still continued, he had a visibly irritated expression.

"You belong to the race of the Cerī. A family that stems back to the beginning of humanity. It is said that the Cerī themselves are actually broken off from the Kimera. A species that existed at the beginning of time with the gods, on a primal and prototype earth before this one. Long ago they took the appearances of hybrids. Animal like beings with the blood of the dragon…but as you know all of the original Cerī were completely wiped out. Plagues broke out. Humans desperately needed to advance their technology. They knew the Cerī's cells would advance them. A quantum leap in medicine that changed everything, and it came at the sacrifice of most of the original Cerī, before the final genocide of them around 20 years ago."

Tengoku scratched his cheek, peeling at a scar on his face. Shizukana had cast a healing spell on him, which cleaned up the damage he took from capture the flag.

"Chasette is the last of them, a pure Cerī that houses the body of the dragon with anthropomorphic genes. So to say she's a distant relative to you wouldn't be far fetched. That's all I know..You'll have to talk to her directly about that."

Raiden nodded to Tengoku soaking in the information like a sponge. He had only known his mothers clan history from small stories here and there but the thought of a true blooded Ceri brought intrigue to his mind.

"Alright thanks, I'll try and see for myself. I hope we go against each other in the exams so I can show you my real fighting power!"

"When we face off i'm not going to go easy, I plan on showing your father and family that i'm someone they should invest in. That i'm a guy they should choose to lead and protect the peace we have now. You better be preparing because I don't plan on holding back at all. I don't care if it's just an exam. I'm going to prove myself to everyone."

Raiden nodded and smiled to Tengoku's words. "I really want to travel so hopefully we can both achieve those goals." He looked around quickly trying to see if he could find the other team members to congratulate them, even if the match was cut short.

Chasette eyed Raiden from a distance. "I suggest the same. You better be training, because if we face off. I'm going to prove to that the Cerī blood you hold is nothing but fragile and fraudulent."

Even if Tengoku was somewhat hostile it was more out of competiveness and desire to be strong and confident in his ideology and self image. He wanted to climb Jacob's ladder and become the strongest. He admired Ashi Zenin the most, somebody who truly saved the world when it mattered most. However, Chasette was extremely hostile and was even malicious. Almost angry that Raiden existed. She didn't understand it, and that alone was more infuriating than anything else.

Raiden had been caught off guard by the sudden hostility from Chasette. He kept his ground and didn't back down. "Fragile Blood? We are almost one and the same. If anything my blood is even stronger with my fathers compared to yours." He smirked at the hostility thinking of it as a challenge of sorts.

"What? That fragile Otizawa blood? Your father isn't anything compared to our ancestors. They would wash the false king any day of the week. What is he the king of? How is he the king if he let his kingdom be attacked so easily?"

Raiden looked into her eyes as she insulted his father and their kingdom, he fired back almost instantly. "And what makes anyone's blood fragile? You might be more pure blooded than me and my brother but the idea of us being here and alive must confuse you or frustrate you for some reason. Be happy there's more people like you."

Kasaru quickly tried to get between the pair before anything broke out, trying to hold Raiden back as he obviously struggled.

"Hey man cmon! This isn't worth it! It isn't worth it for you either!" He looked back at Chasette, still struggling with Raiden.

"Whatever family nonsense you have going on it can be postponed till we know everyone's safe!"

Chasette scoffed at Raiden's claim, and furrowed her brow at Kasaru's attempt to get in between them. However, despite her anger she understood that what he was saying was true. "We'll have more time to talk later then. Your friend is right..everybody's safety takes priority."

Raiden had turned his head, then shook it, he then changed his demeanor and smiled at the opposing team, putting his hand up to his face. "Well if you guys are going be in town later tonight me and Gharma are throwing a party for the game. Even if it really was a draw what's the issue with celebrating the new school year am I right?"

"Did I agree to that? Did I say I was hosting one?" Gharma looked up in thought for a second. "Maybe..?"

"Celebrating a terrorist attack? What a joke." Chasette crossed her arms and turned. "Its like the Otizawa DNA caused you to-"

Vermelha cut in, smiling. "Sure we'd love to go. Just give us a time and place."

Raiden cupped his mouth as it was obviously a secret to be kept from his parents. "So we have a little area close to the lake near the palace that is used to bring in boats and supplies. If we just meet up there after 6 we'll have music and a bunch of other stuff."

He ignored Chasette's comment and continued.

"It'll end around 2 or 3 am so that's a bunch of time to at least enjoy what we have now right?"

"Sure. We'll see you there." Vermelha smiled, friendly toward Raiden unlike Chasette.

"Yeah just remember this conversation. His idea not mine. That way my mom isn't on my ass about this whole party thing." Gharma was honestly more worried about Cynil. He was much closer to them as their cousin than Raiden was, especially because of how their family viewed them.

Raiden smiled back at Vermelha before he suddenly turned back to Gharma and put his fist up to his own face. "This was only because I wanted you to join us in the game!"

He shrugged. "Yeah yeah whatever. I can't go to the party tonight. You go ahead without me. I'll make sure nobody gets on you about it since you're my brother but only because you're my brother."

Raiden nodded, he had turned to Kasaru quickly and had a proposition for him. "Hey you wanna help get the drinks with me? We just have to make sure things are all good for when everyone else gets there."

Joseph watched the scene quietly, sticking his hands into his jacket pockets, turning away and taking a few steps the other direction.

Raiden turned to Joseph excitedly. "You too! We all can get some drinks for the party"

Yuki had been carried out of the building suddenly by a group of firemen, Cynil was still nowhere to be found.

Joseph rolled his eyes but decided to agree to the tag along. Following behind Raiden as he kept quiet. He flexed his knuckled and rubbed at his palm.

"If you insist, I won't be doing anything else."

Kasaru winced at the sun hitting his eyes, the glare blinding him a little as he covered his eyes.

Joseph shrugged and turned back around, falling in step with kasaru. "I'm about ready to get back into some A/C myself, it's scorching."

Raiden nodded and thought about the situation that he was also in with his cousin being missing. "We could also try and discuss what happened with Cynil. Party and planning. A perfect combination."

"Im going to look for her. I've got someone who can get a good deal on what's going on. This is dangerous..but protect the party and have fun Raiden. Don't worry about it, i'll see what I can do." He smiled and put his hand on his brothers shoulder. "Get some girls if you can man." He laughed to himself, knowing that he was instigating with Raiden but he found fun in teasing his brother.

"You don't need help do you? I don't mind tagging along if you want a hand." Joseph turned his head that way, hands still in his pockets.

Raiden's eye twitched at his brothers remark, he shook his head and smiled back. "I'll protect the party don't worry. After it's over we'll come together and try to decide what to do about Cynil or if Yuki has seen anything."

Mastumi hadn't been paying much attention to all the 'yammering ' as he would put it. But the word of a party immediately made his ears twitch in response. And seeing Vermelha agree made him even happier. "Haha! Take me with you, Vermelha!"

"Really? You want to party? That may be your thing…You're the energetic type." Vermelha continued to help Matsumi, brushing his face and clothes off for him.

"Duh! Ouch-!" His head stung, he stuck his tongue out a little as he searched through his pockets to pull out two red bandaids, clearly focused. Promptly sticking them in an X on the cut part of the forehead. "That should be better, all good for the party!" He gasped suddenly. "The bag! We forgot the bag with all the stuff for Mr. Moon!" He had left it somewhere a long time ago, he didn't even enter the arena for the games with it.

"Jesus. Why would you leave your bag somewhere random?" She face palmed and shook her head. "Alright. I guess we're going to have to go find it."

"I have no idea where it could be...we'll meet up with everyone after though! I should also probably tell everyone back in my town that I'm a student here now too."

"That makes sense. Alright. I'll travel back with you…but I can't make any promises that we'll find it. You may be out of luck and you'll have to let him know you lost it trying to enroll in school. Shouldn't be that bad right?"

"It'll be fine, it'll be fine. I always work something out!"

"Alright." She waved to Tengoku. "We might catch up tomorrow if we can't make it. We'll see you guys on the first day of school." Tengoku nodded as she sighed, honestly wanting to party but shrugging her shoulders. Maybe they could catch the backend of it.

"We'll be back!"

Vermelha and Matsumi left out, venturing for the bag that they lost in the process.
