Chapter 3 - The Nest

A loud explosion rocked the Nest. The central headquarters for the Raven unit. A hole tore through the central hall into the massive yard outside.

"Watch it Kora!" Mira yelled out. "I didn't mean to eat your sweets."

I rushed down from my room. I had been staying here ever since I met them. This was the only way to keep an eye on them. Yes, that was the reason not anything else.

"What is going on?"

My gaze dropped on Lina who sleepily rested on the couch, watching the commotion take place.

"It's nothing really. Just a daily quarrel." She yawned.

"What?" I raised a brow at her response.

She let off a sigh, almost like I was disturbing her.

"Fine. So Kora has a sweet tooth and she stocks up on sweets every week. But Mira always eats them. As you can see, Kora isn't a fan."

I glanced over at the quarrel which now intensified. Something had to be done. I looked over at the nearby counter, catching glimpse of a weirdly placed chain. Before I could take a step forward, Kora suddenly calmed down. Her raging screams replaced by soft mumbling. She muttered with noises of what I could only assume to be pleasure as she ravaged a cake.

I blinked. Surprised by the sudden change.

"Next time, just get sweets." Sylvi's voice echoed through the walls.

I scanned the hall, trying to find her but as always, she was well hidden.

Suddenly, a light tug at my sleeve caught my attention. Followed by a warmth I had grown accustomed to. Mira's soft breast pressed against my arm as she grabbed me tightly. Her lips dropped uncomfortably close to my neck and I could feel her breath running up.

"Good morning captain." She said seductively, squeezing her boobs against my arm even more.

"M—Morning Mira." I replied trying to pull my arm away but it wouldn't budge. It was stuck right in between her twin stacks.

Crap. Why are they so soft? Why did she smell so good? My thoughts ran rampant as I struggled to control myself.

She let off that predatory smile I dreaded as I shifted my arm.

"What's wrong captain?" Her tone softened and she locked eyes with me.

I cursed under my breath, pulling my gaze from her. I glanced over at the others for help. Lina was fast asleep already. Kora hadn't taken her face away from the cake and Sylvi was nowhere to be found.

I was left alone with this rather deadly flirt.

"Uhmmmm. Mira could you let go of my arms?"

Desperate, I tried the normal approach. It would have worked if she was normal. She wasn't.

"No."

Her response was swift.

She leaned in closer, lips pouted and heading for my cheek. This was a really dangerous spot to be in. I was already losing control of my body and a kiss from her would only make it worse. I glanced over at Kora and an idea instantly came.

"Kora, separate Mira from me and I'll get you any sweet you want."

I saw Kora's ears raise. Without hesitation, she turned and dashed towards us. She pulled Mira by the collar, easily ripping her away from my arm before flinging her onto Lina.

A loud thud echoed. Mira let out soft mumbling as she stood up but Lina still lay fast asleep. I raised a brow, surprised by how deep she slept.

Suddenly, I fell to my knees. It was like a weight had been thrown on my shoulders. That was when I felt it. Koras small arms wrapped around my shirt. She stared at me with wide eyes and drool running down the side of her mouth.

"Sweet. Sweet. Sweet."

She repeated like some kind of mindless zombie. I couldn't help but nervously smile. Mira was one problem but Kora had an addiction that made her violent. Maybe using that to weaponize her wasn't smart.

"I know Kora. We will go shopping la..."

She pulled me down, staring into my eyes.

"Sweet."

Sweat tricked down my forehead. This was a really bad idea.

"I know , but I am busy now and.."

She cut me off again.

"Sweet."

There was no convincing her. I swallowed hard, trying to pull away from her grip but it was even worse than Mira's.

"Seriously why were they so strong? How were they the weakest unit?" The thought flooded my mind.

Finally I resigned to her.

"Ok, ok. Let's head into town."

She quickly slurped the drool and a huge smile spread across her face. She nodded and instantly let go of my shirt. It felt like I had just cut off a string attached to a massive boulder. I groaned as I stood up, staring into disbelief at the now innocent looking Kora

"Best to keep her that way." I thought.

We headed for the door. I grabbed my cloak from the wall hanger, put it on and stepped out. She followed behind, skipping joyfully and humming a tone.

It was cloudy out. Kind of perfect for a walk into town. We made our way down the walk trail covered by massive trees that gave shade. I couldn't help but observe Kora. She hopped with a smile on her face. The small rays of light bouncing off her pale white skin. Looking closely at her now I could tell she was older than she looked or acted. She might have even been older than Mira. But her skin was flawless and her smile made her seem like a child.

She noticed me staring and stopped.

"Are you ok captain?"

Before I could answer, a soft wheeze put me on guard. I jumped back, landing next to Kora. I glanced down, catching the feathered tail of an arrow.

We were being followed.
