Chapter 4 - CHAPTER 4

Bianca's POV

I got home feeling a whole set of things, tired, annoyed, overwhelmed.

The men that chase me. Again. The fear.

Then Kenneth…..showing up like some kind of superhero savior.

And then that offer.

His words kept replaying in my head like a song I didn't want to hear but I couldn't turn it off.

"I want you to be my fiancée. For three months."

It played over and over, each time with a different type of feeling.

At first, I felt insulted. The audacity he had. He didn't even know me. Who even does that? Offers a deal like that over coffee as if it's just a simple transaction?

I couldn't process it then. So I did the only thing I could, I walked out of the café without looking back. With no second thoughts or even an explanation.

But now, After a few days of thinking.

Now I was lying on my bed, eyes towards the ceiling, the heat of the hot afternoon pouring from my window, and that voice, his voice, playing on repeat in my head.

And for some reason, now, it didn't sound so….upsetting anymore. It sounded like an opportunity.

I exhaled and rolled to my side.

My life hadn't exactly been sunshine and fairy tales.

I had been in debt for as long as I could remember.

Working myself into exhaustion everyday, even picking up extra shifts, also taking side jobs that paid barely enough to cover up. Just surviving.

And still, it was never enough.

But twenty million dollars?

That was a new life.

It would change everything, clear every loan I had, every sleepless night I spent staring at bills I knew couldn't pay. It would give me the freedom I wished I had, give me Options. Safety.

And it wasn't even marriage he was asking for. Just to pretend to be his fiancée. For just three months.

Three months.

And that's it.

And as for Kenneth…..

He wasn't hard to look at…..God, no.

He was the kind of man every women dreamed about. The way he moved himself, the way he looked at me, like I mattered…..I couldn't just deny it.

He was exactly the kind of man I had imagined once upon a time… back then when dreaming was still part of my daily routine.

So why was I hesitating?

I sat up in bed, the bright light of my phone screen lighting up my face as I stared at it for a few moment.

I needed to accept it.

This wasn't just some crazy offer anymore. It was a lifeline. An opportunity I could not ignore.

So I did what any girl in my position would do. I started digging.

I typed his name into my search bar, and there he was. Kenneth Marcon. The feed filled my screen with tagged photos, business articles, and press releases. All of them polished. All of them powerful. A man with presence in every picture, always suited up, sharp, and his gaze always distant.

Every post only reminded me of how serious he was. How real this opportunity could be.

After scrolling through a lot of posts, I finally found it.

A photo tagged by some luxury brand after a charity gala.

Kenneth—standing tall next to some CEO—with the caption:

"Evening well spent. Special thanks to @KennethMarcon"

I clicked into the brand's page and there it was, hidden in the contact section of the post.

@kennethMarcon Email.

I clicked it and his phone contact was there.

I copied it and sat there, my thumb hovering over the screen.

This was it.

I dialed the number, my heart racing just under the surface.

It rang once.

Then twice.

Then. "Hello?"

A smooth and a familiar voice.

"Is that Kenneth?" I asked, my voice becoming more steady than I expected.

There was a moment of silence. Then I heard it

"Bianca?"

I smiled at the sound of him calling my name with his voice. There was a light shift in his tone.

Like he knew why I was calling.

"Yes, it's me," I replied softly.

"How did you get my num…"

"Never mind about that," I cut him almost immediately. "I called about your offer."

Another pause. His interest spiked instantly.

"Yeah?"

"I accept it."

There was a pause, then a smile I could hear even over the phone.

"That's great!" he said, sounding more excited than I had expected him to. "You can send in your account details right now. Let's finalize this."

"What?...." I blinked, surprised. "Alright."

I didn't expect him to act so quickly. To pay me immediately.

But the call ended, and a few moments after I sent him my bank details…..

The notification came in.

And just like that….

My account balance changed.

The large sum sat there in my account.

Real. Huge and life-changing.

This was legit. He was serious.

I watched in silence as one notification after another filled up my screen.

Payment Successful.

My debts being cleared, my balance Settled.

It was like watching every one of my chains break, one by one.

Over the next few minutes, my phone started buzzing, from calls, messages, all from people I didn't hear from, in a while. The ones I owed. The ones who used to whisper or talk behind my back or leave harsh voicemails that made me hide. Word that made me want to stay home all day. They had threatened me in different ways. But now they were receiving their money.

Some were shocked.

"Bianca? You actually paid?" some said

Others weren't surprised.

"Took you long enough. Don't ever make me wait that long again."

I didn't care. I didn't care about any of them. I was free, let them say what they wanted.

I was finally free.

For the first time in what felt like years, there was no weight on my shoulders, no debt to be paid. No fear of their calls, no more unopened bills, no more of my shame eating away at me every time I checked my card

I was free. Finally!

Or at least...

That's what I thought.
