'This is exactly why I took the risk. There's something big being planned within your company, Leo. And if Lia is caught up in an investigation like this…' His eyes drifted up to Lia. 'She needs to know what sort of foe she's up against.'
Lia's stomach knotted. "So you're aware of who's been sabotaging Grant Enterprises?"
"Not exactly," Marcus said, folding his hands. "But I know who's funding them."
His jaw clenched. " Marcus—
But Marcus pressed on.
"And then he said, 'Somebody wants your business to fail before the board vote every year. Somebody big. Somebody who believes you're… preoccupied lately.'"

He passed on another file.
It contained a list of names: board members, investors… and a single name marked with a red circle.
Lia froze.
"Why is Vanessa's name on this list?" she whispered.
Marcus looked at her squarely.
"Because if anyone has the motive to destroy Leo Grant…"
He touched the file with just a single finger.
"…it's the woman who thinks she already owns him."
Lia's breath caught—and then the lights above them flickered. A second later, the whole floor blacked out. There was someone else in the building. And they weren't friendly.
