"Russel Thrush. Cardin Winchester. Dove Bronzewing. Sky Lark."
The audience clapped as the people in question walked up onto the auditorium stage, holographic screens above them showing off each member's profile pictures and names.
An hour after they arrived back at Beacon, they were given some time to rest and freshen up. Finally wearing a fresh set of attire that didn't smell like blood, Clerval tapped his foot while listening to music with his earphones as the headmaster continued.
"You've all returned with black Bishop pieces. Therefore, your team will be... Team C.R.D.L. (Cardinal), led by Mr. Cardin Winchester."
The newly appointed Team Cardinal walked down the stage with smiles and fist bumps.
"Jaune Arc. Lie Ren. Pyrrha Nikos. Nora Valkyrie."
Jaune's group went up onstage.
"You've returned with golden Rook pieces. From this day on, your team will be named... Team J.N.P.R. (Juniper), led by Mr. Jaune Arc."
Nora hugged Lie Ren tightly, with Pyrrha smiling at their sentiment while the leader of the team was... rather panicking. "M-Me?! Sorry, did he just say my name? I think I heard wrong..."
"I am sure that I did not stutter, Mr. Arc," The headmaster repeated.
With a happy expression, Pyrrha smacked Jaune on the shoulders—prompting him to fall onto the ground from the impact. "S-Sorry, Jaune!"
Her face grimaced, scrambling to bring him back onto his feet as Team Juniper walked down the auditorium stage.
"Blake Belladonna. Ruby Rose. Weiss Schnee. Yang Xiao-Long."
The four stood in attention, with Ruby unable to mask her excitement as she trembled in place.
"You returned with golden Knight pieces. From today forward, you will work together as... Team R.W.B.Y. (Ruby), led by Ruby Rose."
The shock on Weiss's face was evident as the team leader herself was stunned in place, only to be met by a yellow comet who smothered her tightly.
"All right! This is amazing, Ruby! We're in the same team after all!"
But before Weiss could erupt in a fit of anger, the headmaster was not done with announcements yet, as his own name was called.
"And finally, Clerval Greyson."
He passed Team Ruby, getting words of encouragement from the two sisters as he walked up onstage.
"It appears you have failed to secure a partner. Under ordinary circumstances, such a failure would mean the end of your Initiation..." The headmaster dragged on as he clicked a button on a remote in his hand.
Above them, a short video began to play. Starting from scenes from his first encounter with the Grimm in the Emerald Forest. It then showed him battling alongside Ruby and Weiss, and finally, the moment he instructed the team to split up and face their own fights.
"You have demonstrated skills beyond our expectations. It would be wasteful to fail you solely for not securing a partner. Therefore, effective immediately, you will serve as the substitute member for Team Ruby and Team Juniper."
The cheers from the audience below, especially Nora, who screamed "sleep neighbor!" with glee. Ignoring them, he looked straight into the headmaster's eyes before nodding.
As he stepped down from the stage to greet his new team members, he was immediately greeted with a lunging hug from Nora, the commotion drowning out the unfamiliar voice that rang at the back of his mind.
