"I don't know if you guys can hear me, but please back up." I huff and try to show some authority over the five giant monsters surrounding me. If they're still in their right minds they don't show it, because the big flying one punches the ground. My cape quickly changes into wings and I fly up, abounding the fracture surface. Raven parries a few swords launched at me with his wings while Norbert blocks a stream lava with an ice block while he falls to the ground. I try and survey the situation to keep track of everyone, I can't afford to throw kaiju around hastily when I'm so tired. The knight guy who's pretending he's my dad is sitting far away, tending to his face. Oh right, I did that. The centaur summons a forest of mountainous trees to harass me. I make two of Ravens favourite swords to cut through them. He mostly manages to match the force of the trees swings. I launch my turtle knights down to Sam, her swords don't seem able to pierce armour that thick. The makeshift cannonballs collide with her, kicking up too much dust for me to see the aftermath. Ok that's fine your fine move onto the next one. "Help Norbert!" Norbert's fellow bears stampede down the barren landscape to join the steam filled battle. The super fizzard seems like it's getting brighter. "Oh boy!" I narrowly spin in the air to dodge a car sized fist. Without finishing my train of thought I send a group of fizzards to Norbert. I end up flying face first into the hard stomach of the big one. Jeez I do this to these people and I can't even rember their names. Before he can grab me Naga slithers out and around him. "Don't bite him!" I tell her. She just gives me what I think is her version of a sympathetic look before choking him. With a quick glance I can see my plan with the fizzards worked, the extra heat melting the ground and catching the enemy off balance. I push away from that and realise something in the air. "Where's Shen?" Which is answered by the sonic booms above me. A turquoise meteor drops from the sky, the only thing keeping me alive is the tree that automatically grows from the wand to block it. It splinters and breaks immediately, but it gives me a split second to dodge. If he hits the ground I don't see it before he's immediately on me again for a slash with his claws. I didn't even realise Raven was wrapping his wings around me when we start flying at Mach speeds. Inside the metal cocoon the only thing I feel besides my blood going to me feet is the horrible sound of metal breaking on a huge scale. Ravens left wing breaks from the impact and I get a brief look at the ever moving world. "The wall…" Shen is immediately behind us with a spin kick. We fly down the canyon, crashing into a huge diamond structure sticking out. The fact I'm still conscious is amazing. Although I could do with the ringing in my ear. When I look down I see Ravens mangled remains splattered around me. He purple organs on open display, even his heart. "I'm sorry." I return him to the wand to rest.
"Haruo?!" Misty runs over and kneels down next to me, I think my brain is getting used to all the damage, that must be how I'm so good at recognising everyone. Before I know it she's helping me stand up, my senses working one after the other. So I notice my broken leg before all the screaming. And I don't realise I don't feel as much pain as I should. And it's not until I've processed all of that information that I realise I'm in the artificial dessert of the facility, filled with many of my fellow trainees. The massive hole in the ceiling really doesn't help the atmosphere though. The purple blood covering me soaks into the sand as tons of people surround me in battle positions, some active powers more obvious than others. Satoshi walks past everyone in his ranger suit, at least I think that's him. Has he always been red.
"Drug guy is this seriously what you do when we aren't around?!" I can't ponder it before Lola crashes into me. My hearing gives out again so any shouting or arguing that happens after this is lost on me. All I pay attention to is gathering energy. I pull some of the pink flame from the planet to recharge my stamina, though I can't take too much with metaphorically burning my insides. After that I summon Pup. I'm not sure why I thought everyone would be ok with that but Misty seems to be keeping the peace. The ground bends beneath her weight when she gets in all fours. I hold my bloody right hand up and she licks it with her massive tounge a few times. Gross sure, but the chemicals she can mix means that she can also encourage faster healing and dull pain. Nothing like what I can do but it take way less stamina so she's better than me. Not too difficult but still.
"Thank you." I stroke her fur. By now all five of the kaiju have regrouped and are coming down the cliff, not that I know how I know that. Maybe the traces of heart returning to the wand is my guess, after all that would mean they were beaten. "Please can you all be quiet?" I grumble out. All the noise these people are making when they spot them climbing down is making my head hurt. At least Satoshi and Misty aren't contributing to it, they just get ready to fight. Shen, or at least what used to be Shen floats down like that villain from mariner satellite. The uh… his name was ummm… I think I blacked out again. Maybe just for a few seconds, because Raven is blocking another flaming Shen punch.
"Wake up!" Misty yells at me before kicking a bus sized sword away. I catch myself staring at Sam and her having their fight. Misty uses her double jump thing to manever near the ceiling, weaving through each launched sword. The kaiju keeps screaming incoherent things while Misty gets closer. With each sword blocked her tails seem like they gain a red tint to them. Shen spins around Raven in an attempt to swipe me with a wing but I just have Naga come out and whip him in the face with her tail. She gains a few cuts before she sends him flying. Another quick glance lets me see Misty, tails and ears hot red, perform a flying axe kick on Sam's head. Despite Misty only being the size of the kaijus head, Sam is sent through the floor, creating tremors and painful sounds to put it mildly. Several trainees running around are sent flying from the impact. The demon fox disguised as my friend drops down the hole, from the heavy sounds Sam is still falling. It's only now that my brain catches up again and I grow concerned. There's a chance someone could seriously die. Another look around shows that most trainees by now have managed to hold off the lava and big ones. They're slowly making it to the exits where security is waiting for them. But I can't see Lola, Boba or Howlett anywhere. Another attack from above, Norbert nearly traps Shen in an ice block but he evades just in time. Norbert gets a little too into it though so I return him when he hits his head on the ceiling.
"This is awesome!" Satoshi laughs and runs through the attacking forest from the centaur.
"These are trainees! Don't h kill them!" If he hears me he doesn't show it. It's like when we fought, his movements are more like a hungry animals than a persons. His new red and gold outfit probably help hide all the blood he gets on himself. Every swing of his sword leaves a current of air the slices through even more of the forest. When a surprise attack of vines comes from below he just turns on his swords flames. It all turns to cinders, even the kaiju taking a few hesitant steps back. The next thing I know my brother is doing that glowy thing he does when he goes all fast. And go fast he does when he kicks the centaur in the chest. It crashes through the wall and fall down the canyon. He can probably survive that right? Right? I really hope so, I don't want that on my conscious…. Did I black out again? Ok I'm still in the facility. There's still holes everywhere. And my friends are trying to fight Shen and the other Kaiju. What was that last bit? The lizard twins are trying to avoid being cursed under massive fists or being burned by lava. Using invisibility and their long youngest to manoeuvre through the sand clouds is problematic the only reason they aren't dead. Howlett has fully converted into a massive were-wolverine and leave a massive clawmark on Shens otherwise pristine chest. The wound immediately disappears though, and the humanoid phoenix simply punches Howlett in the chest. Even I can hear something break and I wince when he falls to his knees in pain.
"Why the hell are you doing this you idiot?!" Lola lands a flying kick on the back of Shens neck. He gives way to the force and she uses her tounge to pull herself back to him and knee him in the eyes. Her brother lands a punch to his spine. It's only when I take a closer look that I realise that Shen is panicking. Not just because of the multiple targets but because he doesn't want to hurt them. I can see it in his eyes. I have to rub my eyes to return my vision to normal. Everything hurts. Maybe just a quick nap…
"No sleeping!!!" I order myself with a smack to my cheek, drops of blood coming from the scratch I unintentionally leave. By now Shen has grabbed the twins and thown them towards the wall behind me at high speeds.
"You jackass!" Do they take anything seriously? Luckily a gummy bear I send to catch them goes splat so they don't. After that two rescue monkeys get Howlett out of the line of fire. When the big guy tries to interupt and attack Raven dashes behind him and punches his spine. I'd feel worse about all the guts that fall out if I didn't know they could regenerate. I mean, they all got like this because of the same fruit so if Shen can do it they all can right? When lava guy tries another spot attack I have Naga spit her acid at his legs. The pressure is so high the his legs get cut off. I feel my teeth get sharper again, cracks form on my forearms as I focus on the last one. Shen robotically looks at his defeated friends, he opens his beak but no noise comes out before he flies into the air again. After a few hundred feet he does a u turn. He's trying that diving move again. With the whistling of his flight getting louder I just raise the wand. With less emotion than I'd like I someone phoenix. The soft orange flames soar through the sky, meeting its rival head on. The resulting fireball covers the whole sky for a good minute. The shockwave blasts sand everywhere, forcing me to cover my eyes. When I see a charred body falling I send Raven to collect him. It's not long before he brings back Shens body. His breath is weak but consistent. Wow he's as tall as Raven like this.
"So, uh, can you like, turn them back?" Boba crouches next to me.
"I don't know. Give me a second." Run my free hand through my hair. This happened because they ate part of my soul right? Although I'm not sure if soul is really the correct term her. Can I just take it back? Are they like this forever? Are they even the still people? I can't just kill them so do I have to take care of them?
"So do you do this often?" Howlett limps over. "That's pretty manly of you." I should probably respond but I don't really feel like navigating my relationships right now. I have to sort this out. Satoshi is calling someone with an earpiece so I should probably get out of here before we get any unwanted guests. I'll wait for these three to heal up then grab the other two. Then I'll go find that red guy and figure things out from. And I've still got to sort out that attack that's coming. Damn it. "Why is he crying?".
"What?" I wasn't actually talking to them I'm just surprised by Shens wounds. He's almost completely healed, you wouldn't even know I burned him alive. But the problem is that there's these weird growths all over his body. Lumps of purple flesh growing out of his chest, arms and neck. I look to the others and see that hey have something similar happening. Croaks come from Shens mouth that turn into pained groans. The masses of flesh grow bigger and more numerous on each of them, their bodies jolting around in pain.
"Holy shit!"Boba yells.
"Do something!" Satoshi orders from across the area. I frantically place my hands over Shen and activate heal. But it seems like the cancerous flesh just grows faster when I do.
"Oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit." No matter how hard I try it just keeps growing bigger. Soon the others forcefully pull me off when the kaiju version of screams rings through the area. My transformation ends when the purple flesh starts to melt. The kaiju bodies seem to follow, turning into a bloody mush slowly. The screams soon turn to the sound of drowning and even that is brief before the silence. All that's left of my friend is a puddle of eyes, teeth and feathers.
