Zahid stood by his desk, scrolling through old files on his laptop, but his mind wasn't fully there. It hadn't been since Raul left. Everything about the man irked Zahid the wrong way. Too calm. Too confident. Like someone who believed he was already winning.
Zahid's phone buzzed.
He stopped.
The sound was sharp in the quiet room. He picked up the phone slowly, his eyes narrowing as he looked at the screen.
One message.
Unknown number.
His jaw tightened the moment he read it.
The message was short.
Too short.
But it was enough to attract Zahid's utmost attention.
Zahid didn't reply.
He locked the phone, slid it into his pocket, and grabbed his jacket in one smooth motion. His face had gone hard, all warmth gone in an instant.
This was no longer something he could handle slowly.
This was no longer just politics.
This was his family.
