Chapter Sixty-Two – Marriage proposal
"You look happy today," Natalie said.
Angel nodded. "Yeah, I am very happy."
Natalie looked away. not wanting to continue the discussion.
That word stung.
When Zahid entered the dining room, the energy shifted.
Angel felt it before she saw him.
He moved differently now. Slower. Heavier. Like every step carried weight.
"Good morning," he said.
The twins responded loudly.
Angel stood. "You didn't sleep much."
Zahid met her eyes. "Neither did you."
She smiled faintly. "I'll make you tea."
He nodded.
Their fingers brushed briefly as she passed him the cup.
Natalie noticed.
She always did.
Moments later, Zahid received word that Raul was ready.
Zahid set his cup down.
"Stay here," he told Angel quietly. "With the children."
She nodded. "Be careful."
His eyes softened. "Always."
As Zahid walked toward the guest lodge, his face became unreadable again.
By the time he reached Raul, the ruler had fully returned.
Raul bowed.
