There wasn't even two minutes left before the exam officially began. The massive ground was filled with at least a million students — all carrying ambition, nerves, and hope in their eyes.
I glanced toward the eastern gate. More students were still rushing in.
'It's about time… they should arrive now.'
And as if the universe heard me, exactly five seconds later — my prediction came true.
Three elves stepped into view.
Two males, one female.
Both male elves guarded the girl like their lives depended on it. And honestly, considering they were SSS-rank awakeners, that level of caution meant only one thing:
The girl they protected was even more special.
As they entered, the hall erupted — not because they were elves. There were already many elves and beastmen scattered around the area.
Not even because of the two SSS-rank males.
No.
It was because of her.
Voices broke out instantly.
"I think I might be a lesbian now… haaah…"
A boy muttered under his breath, "Am I looking at a goddess?"
A girl smacked the back of his head. "You idiot. A goddess can't compare to that."
Even Aldric — THE Aldric — whispered under his breath,
"Beautiful—"
PAAA!!
A mystery flying punch slammed into his jaw from a completely unknown angle.
I sighed internally. 'Anastasia is truly ruthless when it comes to him.'
But my eyes were already fixed forward.
Thump. Thump.
My heart… it slammed against my chest so loudly that I could hear it.
This was the first time — in both of my lives — that someone's presence alone destabilized me like this.
I had read about her. I knew who she was from the book.Yet the description failed — miserably — to capture the reality.
I looked again.
Thump. Thump.
My heart skipped a beat.
She had hair like a celestial river of molten gold. Her eyes were deep forest green — the kind of forest one would willingly get lost in forever.
If perfection were allowed to rename itself…
It would be Elyndria da' Caelrith.
She wore a sky-blue royal attire adorned with jewels, the kind only elven royalty would dare to wear casually.
Anastasia leaned closer to me, whispering with mild envy,
"Who is she?"
Before my brain could stop me, my mouth opened on its own.
"Elyndria da' Caelrith."
Half the surrounding students turned to stare at me.
Thankfully, she was still near the door — far enough that she couldn't hear me. It would've been impossible to explain how a count's son from the Human Domain somehow recognized a princess barely seen even in the Elven Domain.
Still, Aldric and Anastasia shot me suspicious looks.
Shit… stop it. Not them — my heart. It was still racing wildly.
Sigh. It wasn't my fault. Even in the book, Arthur had a massive crush on her.
She was ranked 2nd in the entrance exam — though the gap between 1st and 2nd was enormous.
As she sat gracefully on the bench, the two SSS-rank male elves stood protectively beside her.
A strange urge shot through me — a desire to erase their existence using my Conceptual Erasure. Not that I could use it now… but still.
The two elves were Sylvarin and Lorianth.
Sylvarin talent was Bloombringer (AOE healing). with Physique: nature-loved . Rank 8th in the exam. Lorianth talent was Mooncaller, using the luminous variant of light affinity. with Physique: forest predator. he was Rank 6th in exam .
Both were incredibly good people and very close friends of Aldric and Arthur in the original story.
They treated Elyndria like their little sister and vowed to protect her at all costs.
Sigh… they were actually decent guys.
I tried to distract myself with nonsense thoughts and turned to Aldric.
He was desperately circling Anastasia, trying to convince her he didn't "mean anything" when he called Elyndria beautiful.
She was… not convinced.
Suddenly—
A voice tore through the air.
"SILENCE."
And instantly — a million students fell quiet.
Not a whisper. Not a breath. Not even a shiver.
The exam was about to begin.
