Chapter 3 - The Ancestral Grounds — Tempering the Body with Lightning

Both of them had just reached the Fighter realm. Naturally, the cultivation methods they were given weren't very advanced—there was always a transition period. High-tier techniques were not something they could handle at their current level.

In this world, cultivation methods were divided into Heaven, Earth, Profound, and Yellow tiers.

Each tier was further split into High, Mid, and Low rank.

Different techniques gave different cultivation speeds, but if you handed a Heaven-tier method to a mere Fighter, it didn't mean they would instantly soar to the sky. Everything required gradual progress.

As a transitional technique, Lei Qi chose a Mid-Profound ranked technique — Thunder Seal Body-Forging Art.

Although not very high-ranked, it strengthened the body during cultivation—something Lei Qi found very tempting.

He knew well: a person's strength wasn't only about attack power.

First, you had to be able to stay standing.

Lei Dong, on the other hand, chose a High-Profound ranked technique.

After the two finished selecting their methods, Lei Ying instructed them to rest. They would enter the ancestral grounds the next day.

As they returned to their living quarters, Lei Dong looked at Lei Qi seriously.

"Lei Qi, I won't lose to you forever."

"There's no gambler who loses every day," Lei Qi replied, glancing at the brat. "But you need to understand—your opponent is me."

"Hmph. One day, I'll defeat you with the strongest thunder!"

"Work hard then. If you can keep up with me, big brother will take you traveling around the world in the future." Lei Qi patted Lei Dong's shoulder, rare seriousness in his tone.

Lei Dong was the simple, straightforward type. Each time he got bored, he volunteered to be Lei Qi's punching bag—Lei Qi couldn't help but appreciate him.

"I'm older than you!" Lei Dong protested.

"This world doesn't care about age. It cares about strength. Understand?" Lei Qi said.

Lei Dong's small face looked confused.

He even wondered: If I surpass Father one day… can I spank him?

Lei Qi didn't bother with whatever nonsense Lei Dong was thinking. Reaching his room, he pushed the door open and entered.

The room arranged in the inner grounds was far better than anything he had outside.

Most importantly—there was a prepared medicinal bath waiting for him.

Eight years!!

After eight long years, he finally felt like a true young master of a Dou Emperor family.

Splash!

After stripping in a few swift motions, Lei Qi dove into the wooden tub.

If only there were a few beauties here—

He suddenly shook his head.

This was the Lei Clan. Where would beauties come from?!

---

The Next Morning

Clan Leader Lei Ying and Great Elder Lei Jin arrived.

With piles of rare lightning-element crystals surrounding them, the two unleashed their power at the same time.

Soon, the Ancestral Grounds opened.

"You can stay here for ten years," Lei Jin said. "Whether you can endure is up to you."

He handed each of them a jade slip.

"If you truly can't hold on, crush the jade. I'll bring you out."

The two took their slips and stepped into the Lei Clan's Ancestral Grounds.

The moment Lei Qi entered, he felt a numb, tingling lightning force spread across his whole body.

The feeling was… simply terrible!

Crackle!

Crackle!

As the surroundings shifted, arcs of lightning flashed everywhere.

This place wasn't dark—because lightning was constantly flickering all around.

Lei Qi looked around. Other than lightning, there seemed to be nothing else here.

"Lei Dong?"

He suddenly noticed that Lei Dong wasn't beside him.

They had entered together, yet that brat had disappeared!

Lei Qi didn't move recklessly. Instead, he sat cross-legged and began circulating his technique.

Since this was the entry area and supposedly safe, it was the best place to sense the surroundings.

Zzzzt… zzzzt…

As soon as he began cultivating, the surrounding lightning gathered toward him.

Crack!

BANG!

Crack!

BANG!

Bolts of lightning exploded on his body.

Every explosion sent sharp pain through him.

Yet at the same time, the Dou Qi absorption speed was extraordinary.

Before reaching Fighter, cultivating had been extremely difficult.

But once one possessed a cultivation method, the speed increased dozens of times.

Here, the absorption was even faster—but the bodily damage increased as well.

---

Half an Hour Later

Rumble!!

Lei Qi collapsed to the ground, his entire body aching.

Once he stopped cultivating, the dense lightning energy stopped harming him and instead flowed gently into his body.

Although this gentle energy was far weaker, at least it didn't hurt.

As he absorbed the refined Dou Qi, he remained alert.

The Great Elder had said there were multiple layers.

The first layer almost never had danger—but since the place hadn't been opened for many years, no one was certain.

The danger here came from Dou Qi Puppets left behind by the Thunder Emperor.

Their levels weren't low.

Most were at least at the Fighting Master realm.

The strongest might even reach Dou King level.

They couldn't grow stronger—but that didn't mean they would stay in fixed positions either.

Fortunately…

After resting for a day, nothing happened except the constant rumbling lightning.

Lei Qi didn't waste time. After eating, he once again accepted the lightning's tempering.

Each bolt was agonizing.

But after each session, he could clearly feel his body hardening and his Dou Qi increasing rapidly.

---

One Month Later

After a full month of lightning tempering, Lei Qi successfully broke through to the Fighting Master realm.

His physical strength also skyrocketed.

Even his lightning attribute seemed to have improved—his thunder attacks were noticeably stronger than ordinary lightning cultivators at the same level!

Though it was just basic lightning, under equal realms and techniques, his attack power was definitely superior.

This place truly was extraordinary.

Even after breaking through, Lei Qi didn't leave. The speed wasn't as terrifying as the beginning, but rushing to the next layer was too dangerous.

He wanted to grow stronger quickly, but haste would only backfire.

For now, he needed to build a solid foundation—step by step.

As for his "Clan Prosperity System"?

Once he left seclusion, it would naturally shine.
