Chapter 622 - 299

Chapter 299: Volume-3 Chapter-1!

Inside a cave, on an unnamed island of the Eastern region of the Primordial Dragon Empire, an emperor realm cultivator sat cross-legged.

He was naked above his waist, revealing his bare chest and toned abs. His abnormally white hair would flutter from the occasional gust of wind that would enter the cave.

Although his eyes were closed right now, if anyone were to find them open, they would see two crimson orbs, almost resembling ruby gems.

His neck was long, which was attached to his sturdy torso. His shoulders were defined, just like the many muscles on his body.

Being as majestic as he was, one could notice a frown on his face along with a huge circular scar on his abdomen. This was a wound that he had suffered roughly a month ago, and it still didn't heal properly.

When he had begun healing, this wound covered most of his abdomen. If not for him constantly using his cultivation to stop his blood and internal organs from gushing out, he would have most likely lost his guts and possibly his life.

Even after a month, it still left that huge circular scar on his abdomen. Even now, he felt pain while moving his body.

Gritting his teeth, he cursed:

"That Eastern Sovereign Hall Sect Master... just what kind of devious art did he use? Any other wound would have healed twice by now, but this, it still hurts!"

He received this wound at the hands of the Eastern Sovereign Hall's Sect Master. The sect master's cultivation was amplified by his sect's formation. Moreover, it was Lin Feng who decided to focus on shattering the defensive formation instead of defending himself.

At this moment, a voice spoke directly into his ears, not able to be heard by anyone but him:

"Hahaha, Lin Feng. Never thought I would see you suffer like this, brat! It's been so long since you suffered by anyone's hands. I almost forgot you could get hurt."

The voice sounded as if spoken by an old man with hundreds of years of experience under his belt.

"Senior Mao Lang, I'm already suffering enough." Lin Feng smiled bitterly, "Please don't add salt to the injury."

"What? Now I'm not even allowed to tease you a bit?" The voice sounded disgruntled. "Hmph, then don't ask for my help when you are in danger next time."

This was a threat that Lin Feng had gotten used to. Whenever his senior would be displeased by something, he would throw this threat around like salt.

Lin Feng grinned upon hearing his threat. He asked, "Senior, don't you think that threat has been used too many times? I don't even feel threatened by it anymore."

He shrugged and continued, "Who knows? I won't even need your help anymore."

With a smile that was almost arrogant, he questioned, "Who can even put me in danger? I'm an intermediate-stage emperor realm cultivator! Even when I'm inside the strongest empire, only a few can be a threat to me. To kill me, at least an upper-stage emperor realm cultivator would need to come after me himself; even then, I'm confident I could escape with my life intact!"

At this moment, the voice laughed into his ears, teasingly asking,

"Then what about the wound that you have? Did you get it from an upper-stage emperor realm cultivator? No! You received it from a late-stage emperor realm cultivator. Don't brag if you can't back your words, brat!"

Hearing his taunt, Lin Feng frowned as he immediately explained:

"I received it intentionally because I knew I wouldn't die from it! I just prioritized attack over defense. You know it as well, senior. I needed to make that sacrifice to shatter that formation!"

It was true, and Mao Lang had witnessed it himself. After all, he would always accompany Lin Feng whether he wanted to or not. This was their fate.

In the silence of the cave, Mao Lang replied in his mature tone, almost as if he was teaching a child:

"Yes, I know that. But all I'm saying is that you shouldn't get too arrogant. You might need to make such sacrifices in the future, and when you do, your life will be in danger. And to escape from that danger, you'll need my help!"

Lin Feng knew that Mao Lang's words carried truth. After all, Mao Lang wasn't just anyone; he was someone much more ancient. Mao Lang had saved his life too many times; even Lin Feng had lost count.

If there was anyone Lin Feng respected more than his parents, then it had to be Mao Lang.

Lin Feng sighed in defeat: "I understand, senior."

Mao Lang was satisfied with that answer.

"Good, then focus on healing yourself."

Lin Feng nodded as he closed his eyes and focused.

A green-colored pearl emerged out of his chest and floated in front of the wound.

Green-colored spiritual energy travelled from the pearl to his wound, and at a visible rate, the wound began to show signs of healing.

It was slow but noticeable.

Mao Lang sighed upon seeing the rate of healing:

"Even the Divine wood pearl is having trouble healing that wound."

Only a small opening of the wound was left, and it would be healed in under three days.

The cave was silent, with only Lin Feng's breathing making rustling noises. There were occasional sounds of water droplets striking against rocks.

As for outside the cave, there was nothing.

This was only a small island, 4 kilometers across in length.

It was similar to a forest with huge trees and plants covering the island. As for spirit beasts, there were a few that Lin Feng hunted to use as his food provisions.

Those spirit beasts were no stronger than the origin realm, so Lin Feng didn't have any trouble with them.

Other than that, the island was fully surrounded by water with no other island to keep it company.

In the huge sea of the eastern region, it would look like a speck of dust; however, if someone were to look at this speck of dust right now, they would see even smaller figures moving around the island.

If they were to look closely, they would notice human figures surrounding the island from all sides.
