Chapter 16 - Chapter 14: Morning Messages

Sunlight filtered through the hotel curtains, soft and gold, warming the blankets tangled around you. You blinked slowly, the events of the day before drifting back like a dream you hadn't quite left. The rooftop. The crowd. The kiss. The promise.

You smiled softly to yourself and reached for your phone, still sitting on the nightstand, screen lighting up with three unread messages.

The first one stopped your breath.

Hyunjin : 1:03 a.m.

I meant what I said. You're gold — not loud, not flashy, but rare.

Whatever happens next, I'm just glad I was part of your orbit. Thank you for seeing me. For really seeing me.

Shine bright today.

You pressed a hand to your chest, eyes soft.

Then came the second one.

Lee Know : 1:27 a.m.

I didn't sleep much. I kept thinking about how someone can feel like both comfort and chaos at the same time.

You made me feel calm, and that's hard for me.

Whatever choice you make today… I'll respect it. Just don't disappear.

You stared at the screen for a long moment, your heart full—not just of confusion, but gratitude. These weren't boys seeking your attention. They were men who had opened the door to connection and trusted you to walk through it.

Then, your phone buzzed again.

Chan : 7:42 a.m.

Good morning, angel.

I hope you slept better than I did… which is unfair because I'm pretty sure you stole my peace with you.

Getting ready now. I'll come get you in 30? You said breakfast… I'll bring the appetite.

You couldn't help the smile that tugged at your lips. This day had already begun with honesty. And soon, it would bring something even more powerful— Truth. Together.

Chan's Quiet Talk with the Boys

The hotel dining area was still empty when Chan stepped inside. He wore a simple black t-shirt, hoodie slung over his shoulder, hair still damp from his morning shower. The staff had reserved a private space for the group—curtains drawn, breakfast trays already warming.

One by one, the members trickled in. Hyunjin arrived first, eyes hidden behind tinted sunglasses despite being indoors. Lee Know walked in soon after, calm but quiet.

Chan cleared his throat once they were all seated. "Before we eat," he said gently, "I want to talk to you guys. About... her."

No one interrupted. Not even Han, who usually couldn't sit still for anything.

"She asked to have breakfast with us," Chan continued. "She wants to tell you herself that she's staying another night."

A quiet pause. Hyunjin shifted in his seat. Lee Know folded his hands.

Chan met their eyes, one by one. "I know things were intense yesterday. I know feelings were real. But she's not trying to lead anyone on. She's doing this the way we all say we wish people would. With respect. With honesty."

No one looked away.

"She cares about both of you," he added. "And I know you care about her. But I also need to be honest—" his voice dropped slightly—"I care about her too. And it's not a moment for me. It's something I want to build."

Silence stretched, not awkward—just heavy with thought.

Then Hyunjin spoke, voice soft. "She's the first person who didn't treat us like we were only what we give."

Lee Know nodded once, slow and thoughtful. "She deserves to speak her truth. We'll listen."

Chan let out a breath he hadn't realized he was holding. "Thanks, guys."

Back in Your Hotel Room — Your Message to Chan

You stood in the middle of your hotel room, suitcase half-zipped, your phone in hand.

The front desk had just called. Checkout time loomed. But everything had changed.

You opened your messages and typed:

You → Chan :

Hey… small dilemma.

I was supposed to check out this morning. But now I'm staying another night… and I'm not sure what to do.

No room. No plan. Just my suitcase and a heart full of chaos.

Three dots appeared almost instantly.

He was already typing.

Chan → You :

You should've told me sooner, sweetheart.

You're not scrambling today. I've already talked to the hotel.

There's a room waiting for you — under my name. Go downstairs, grab your new key, and leave your suitcase. Then come find us. We're waiting.

And for the record? This isn't chaos. This is where things begin.

Your heart skipped as you read the message. Somehow he always knew exactly what to say — not just to comfort you, but to ground you. He wasn't just making room for you in his day. He was making space for you in his life.
