Cecilia finally received Ruby's writings of everything she knew about the Heretic incident.
The bundle of papers sat on the table before her, bound with a simple silk ribbon. This was the recorded testimony of a woman who had lived through a future that must never come to pass… and who had every reason to twist the truth.
Of course Cecilia already knew Ruby might've skewed the information or tried to falsify it somehow, twisting it again to her benefit. That was simply who Ruby was.
Truth was a weapon to be wielded carefully, and that the most dangerous thing she could do was give her enemies everything they wanted.
But that was also the reason why Cecilia 'revealed' that she was a dragon herself. Ruby would think twice before telling lies. Or at least shit that wasn't convincing enough.
It was advising Ruby that she was in the presence of something older and more powerful than she could imagine. Lie and the gods would know. Gods with wings and fire that was born in the sky.
