"What is it, Young Miss?" the beautiful woman beside Muzan asked, turning her head in confusion.
"Uncle, what's wrong?" the infant in Muzan's arms babbled, her clear, innocent eyes gazing up at him.
Muzan smiled faintly at the mother and daughter. Originally, he had intended to use them to expand his rather interesting maritime trade. However, the moment he noticed Kochou Kanae's presence, his interest in trade diminished greatly.
He slightly curved his lips and said in a gentle, low voice, "You two go ahead and wait for me."
The woman showed a trace of displeasure but said nothing. She took the infant back from Muzan's arms and walked ahead.
Muzan paid them no further attention. Instead, he turned his head with obvious interest, scrutinizing Kochou Kanae as his thoughts raced.
He had never seen this face before.
How interesting—she was clearly a demon, yet he felt no connection to her at all.
This situation had only ever happened with Tamayo and Ryuya.
Judging from her appearance, that had to be a Nichirin Blade tucked at her waist.
Oh? Was she from the Demon Slayer Corps?
Muzan smiled mockingly, his eyes openly appraising the beautiful and captivating Kochou Kanae as he continued speculating.
Let him guess—who exactly was she?
Back when he assigned Ryuya his first mission, he had ordered him to kill a Hashira. Instead of killing her, Ryuya had turned her into a demon.
Muzan had been furious at the time.
His anger was not because a Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps had been turned into a demon—but because the demon created was not under his control.
That was what truly displeased him.
If it had not been Kokushibo who instructed Ryuya to do it—and if it had been Ryuya's own deliberate decision—Muzan would have killed him in a fit of rage.
Whether it was his son, his partner Kokushibo, or even the Upper Ranks and Lower Ranks of the Twelve Kizuki, they were all merely tools to locate the Blue Spider Lily and eradicate the Ubuyashiki Clan.
Anything that threatened him or existed beyond his control was unacceptable.
He despised that sense of unease.
As for that Hashira, according to what he had gleaned from Doma's memories, she was a female Hashira—the Flower Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps.
Which perfectly matched the woman standing before him.
Interesting. Very interesting.
Was she mistaking him for his son, Ryuya?
Well, that couldn't be helped. After all, his son resembled him quite a bit.
But why was Ryuya still in contact with this Flower Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps? What did that mean?
Despite Muzan's close surveillance, Ryuya had clearly done something beyond his awareness.
And it likely wasn't just one thing.
How many secrets were there?
The thought made him deeply curious.
A strained smile lingered on Muzan's face, though his heart simmered with irritation.
Still, there was no need to overthink it.
Why not simply ask this beautiful Miss Flower Hashira directly?
Since she mistook him for Ryuya, he would play along and see what useful information he could extract.
He smiled faintly and said, "Miss Kochou Kanae, why have you come? Were you looking for me?"
"Miss Kochou Kanae?"
Kanae froze.
Her suspicions solidified instantly—the demon before her was not Ryuya.
Even though he could say her name, his tone and manner of address were completely wrong. This was not Ryuya.
Then who was he?
No—that wasn't the most urgent question.
What truly mattered was why he was impersonating Ryuya, and what he intended to do.
His aura—he was a demon.
Only after activating Full Focus Breathing to sense him more carefully did Kanae realize something was wrong.
The demonic power emanating from him was even stronger than Ryuya's.
Was he an Upper Rank? But there were no numbers in his pupils.
Though fear surged through her, Kanae quickly steadied herself. As the Flower Hashira, her extensive combat experience allowed her to calm down rapidly.
Calm down.
Even if his demonic power was overwhelming, he couldn't kill her easily.
It was extremely difficult for one demon to kill another without sunlight.
She needed to stay calm and observe what he wanted.
Kochou Kanae swallowed hard, forcing a natural smile onto her face as she asked, "Ryuya, why are you here? And who was that woman and child just now?"
"Woman? Child?"
Muzan's lips curved slightly upward.
Seeing the concern in her expression, he lightly rubbed his pale chin with a fingertip and teased, "Miss Kochou Kanae, are you very concerned about that?"
"Of course. I like you the most, Ryuya."
"Like?"
Muzan fell silent for a moment, pondering her words.
At the same time, he looked at her and said warmly, "It's been a long time since I've seen you, Miss Kochou Kanae. I'm quite concerned about how you've been lately. Why don't we find a teahouse and have a proper chat?"
"Okay!"
Kanae nodded without hesitation, though she deliberately glanced toward the distant woman and infant with visible unease.
The gesture was intentional—and Muzan noticed it.
However, he did not sense anything unusual. Instead, he gathered a very interesting piece of information from her words and small reactions.
The Flower Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps… actually liked his son, Ryuya?
If that were true, then wouldn't she technically be his daughter-in-law?
He truly hadn't expected this.
Ryuya hadn't even brought her home yet, and she had already taken the initiative to meet the parents.
Not bad. Not bad at all.
As a father, he would need to carefully evaluate this daughter-in-law. After all, this concerned his son Ryuya's future.
And that was no small matter.
