"Do you want me to make you a piece of clothing?" Nezuko blinked her big eyes and asked.
"Yes, that's right, but I'll give you a proper reward. Younger Sister Nezuko, your needlework is so good, can you help me with this?" Ryuya said with a smile.
"Hmm, alright." Nezuko nodded and agreed to Ryuya's request.
"However, making clothes isn't something that can be done overnight, and we don't have fabric or thread right now."
"I'll take care of the materials." Ryuya replied straightforwardly.
The money wasn't his anyway, and he could even show off in front of Kibutsuji Muzan. He had to thank Boss Gyokko for the strong support.
"Then tomorrow, shall we go to town to buy the materials?" Nezuko asked, not wanting Ryuya to wait too long, and she disliked procrastinating.
"Okay." Ryuya agreed, and the matter was settled.
Under Auntie Kie's hospitality, Ryuya and Tanjiro slept in one room, while Makomo slept with Nezuko.
The night grew deep, and bright moonlight shone into Ryuya's eyes. He turned his head slightly and looked at Tanjiro beside him.
Tanjiro was already fast asleep.
His routine was simple and steady: sleep early, wake early, and sell charcoal to support the family. Day after day, he never found it boring. Carrying the burden of responsibility, he found meaning in it.
Tanjiro was a responsible boy, and he was only ten years old.
However, this peaceful life would not last much longer.
Ryuya silently calculated that in about a year, due to fate and unavoidable circumstances, the Demon King Kibutsuji Muzan would arrive here.
When that time came, it would bring bloodshed and disaster, an unbearable tragedy for Tanjiro.
Maybe he could prevent it.
But if he did, Tanjiro's fate would change completely. He might never join the Demon Slayer Corps and instead remain an ordinary charcoal seller.
So should he interfere, or simply give a hint and let destiny take its course?
Ryuya disliked making choices, and the thought irritated him.
He slowly lifted the quilt, intending to get up and clear his mind.
Just then, the sliding door quietly opened, pushed by a small, delicate hand.
A pair of dark green eyes peeked into the room.
Ryuya frowned slightly.
The figure stepped inside like a cautious little rabbit, moving on tiptoe to avoid making any sound.
It was Makomo.
Ryuya lay back down and pretended to sleep. He wanted to see what she was planning.
"Master, Master?" Makomo tiptoed to his side and saw him lying still.
Suspicious, she cupped her hands and gently blew warm air into his ear.
After testing him a few times and seeing no reaction, a hint of delight flashed in her eyes.
Without hesitation, she lifted his quilt and slipped inside.
Her body pressed against his, warmth spreading between them. Breathing in his familiar scent, her face flushed deeply.
"Master..." she murmured softly, her voice almost melting.
She hugged him tightly and shifted slightly, trying to get comfortable.
It was too warm under the quilt.
As she lifted part of it for air, everything suddenly changed.
Her eyes met Ryuya's.
He was staring at her with an awkward smile, like a wolf that had already seen through a rabbit's sneaky actions.
The moment their eyes met, Makomo's face turned completely red, as if steaming.
She bit her lip and quickly pulled the quilt over herself, trying to hide.
Why wasn't he asleep?
Why wasn't he asleep?!
Didn't he pretend to be asleep?
He tricked her again, how annoying!
Makomo recalled the past. Every night, Ryuya would teach her Breathing Techniques, and she would fall asleep while hugging him.
Over time, she grew used to it, even dependent on it.
But as she got older, Ryuya began avoiding her more often. Even when she tried sneaking in at night, he would always catch her, forcing her to retreat in embarrassment.
But not this time.
Even if he saw her, she wouldn't back down.
Gathering her courage, she moved forward again.
She wanted to face him properly, not keep hiding like before.
She just wanted to sleep peacefully beside him.
However, before she could move closer, Ryuya suddenly pulled away the quilt, sat up, and started putting on his clothes.
Makomo froze in confusion.
Then she realized he was about to leave.
Panicking, she hugged his waist tightly, her eyes filling with tears. "Master, you haven't slept with me for so long, Makomo just wants a good night's sleep, please don't be so heartless, okay?"
Hearing her words, Ryuya looked helpless.
Why did it sound like he was the bad guy here?
"No, not today!" he said firmly, even though he hesitated inside.
"Why not today, Master, could it be your body isn't up to it anymore?" Makomo looked at him suspiciously and reached out her hands. "Let me see who drained you, Master!"
"Stop messing around!" Ryuya pushed her away and glanced at the sleeping Tanjiro, using him as an excuse.
Because how could a man say he couldn't do it?
