Chapter 60 - Chapter 59: The Flames Will Reignite, Never Ceasing

"What a magnificent man you are. The Flame Hashira, right? How splendid!"

Perched atop the towering ice Bodhisattva, Doma felt the tremor below as Shinjuro Rengoku continued his desperate assault.

With a flick of his fan, Doma commanded the Bodhisattva to strike.

Clang!

Shinjuro raised his Nichirin Blade with both hands, barely blocking the crushing palm.

One more second.

If he could hold for one more second, the Demon Slayer Corps would gain another chance to survive.

"You truly are fighting with your life. Impressive. But the flame of the Demon Slayer Corps ends today."

The Bodhisattva's pressure intensified.

Shinjuro's legs trembled violently. His knees buckled.

Cracks spread across his blade.

Yet he smiled.

Radiant.

Unyielding.

"The flame of the Demon Slayer Corps will never cease. It will be passed down—to the next Flame Hashira!"

"Is that so? I look forward to it."

The Bodhisattva exhaled freezing mist.

In the next instant, Doma leapt down from his lotus throne.

His golden iron fan pierced straight through Shinjuro's heart.

Thud.

Blood splashed across the frost.

"Is that all? Then I'll go after the others—"

He tried to withdraw his weapon.

But Shinjuro's hands clamped down on the fan's edge.

The sharpened metal cut into his palms.

Blood dripped.

He did not let go.

No matter how Doma pulled.

The image of a man who had abandoned fear of death left even Doma momentarily speechless.

"I'll chase them," Akaza said, stepping forward.

"Brother Akaza, don't," Ryuya said calmly, glancing at the paling horizon. "Dawn is near."

The first light of morning crept across the sky.

The sun.

A demon's bane.

Akaza clicked his tongue lightly.

"Then they live—for now."

His gaze shifted to Genya Shinazugawa, still bound to the pillar.

"Brother Ryuya, what about him? Kill him?"

Genya's eyes filled with terror.

He stared at Ryuya—the one who held his fate.

"That would be wasteful," Ryuya replied. "Keep him. If the Demon Slayer Corps failed to save him this time, they'll try again."

"Evil demon! Kill me if you have the guts!" Genya shouted.

If he died now—

He wouldn't drag his brother down again.

The cost the Corps had paid because of him burned in his mind.

"You're noisy."

Doma walked over and casually struck Genya in the back of the head with his fan.

Ryuya glanced at Doma briefly. The cheerful smile he usually wore had faded more often lately.

He silently called to Nakime.

The sound of a biwa echoed.

The world shifted.

In the next instant, Ryuya, Doma, Akaza, and Genya stood within the vast halls of the Infinity Castle.

"Congratulations," Doma grinned at Genya. "You're the first human ever to visit the Infinity Castle."

Genya could not even speak.

His body trembled as he stared at the warped architecture stretching endlessly around him.

"Nakime. He's under your watch. Do not let him escape. Do not let him die."

"Yes, Young Master Ryuya."

Nakime lowered her gaze slightly.

Whether to inform Muzan-sama was another matter.

After all—

Though she ruled the castle, its true master was Muzan Kibutsuji.

"Brother Ryuya, I'll go establish a new dojo," Akaza said. "The last one's gone."

Before vanishing, he laughed lightly.

"That was satisfying. If there's another battle like this, don't forget me."

After Akaza departed, Doma casually slung an arm around Ryuya's shoulders.

"Young Master Ryuya, how was my performance?"

Ryuya glanced at him.

"Remove your arm."

"Eh? Why?"

Before Doma could react, Ryuya had already pushed him away.

Doma looked briefly hurt—

Then smiled again.

"Young Master Ryuya, come visit my Eternal Paradise Cult!"

"The Eternal Paradise Cult?"

"Yes! It's very interesting. Come see!"

Doma's folding fan snapped open enthusiastically.

Ryuya considered it.

There was little to do during the day. The search for the Blue Spider Lily had yielded nothing. Other tasks remained unfinished.

And demons could not act under sunlight anyway.

"Very well. Let's take a look."

Doma's eyes sparkled.

"Oh, wonderful! Young Master Ryuya visiting my Eternal Paradise Cult—how delightful!"

He turned to Nakime.

"Transport us to the Eternal Paradise Cult."

The biwa sounded again.

And the flames of the night, though extinguished in one place—

Were destined to reignite elsewhere.

They would never cease.
