Chapter 5 - 5

Now, we'll test your superpowers," Jean Grey said, leading Zhou Yi to the depths of the laboratory, into a super tunnel similar to a wind tunnel.

"What abilities have you discovered so far?" Jean Grey held an electronic screen, adjusting the equipment in the tunnel, and as she moved, the entire tunnel echoed with the sounds of various metals shifting.

Zhou Yi thought for a moment and said, "Besides the gravity field control and telekinesis I've already demonstrated, I also have some light manipulation abilities. At the same time, I can control fire; its highest temperature was initially only 2500 degrees Celsius, but now I can reach over three thousand degrees. Finally, I can also fly, and my speed is similar to when I run."

Hearing this, Jean Grey once again looked at Zhou Yi with a strange expression, but she said nothing more, only asking Zhou Yi to use his abilities one by one on the instruments she activated, in order to obtain the most precise data.

Zhou Yi said nothing, but simply took to the air, first flying two laps around the tunnel at supersonic speed, then shooting two powerful rays from his eyes, cutting the test metal object in half. Later, he used fire, as well as gravity field and telekinesis, indiscriminately bombarding all the test tools, making the entire tunnel look as if it had been plowed dozens of times by heavy bombs, almost blasting through the tunnel floor.

Faced with such destructive power, Jean Grey had no choice but to first extract a small amount of Zhou Yi's blood, then dismissed him. Of course, she left her contact information to inform him of the blood sample test results. Zhou Yi did not object to this, but as a condition for cooperation with Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, he requested that the blood sample be destroyed after testing.

Jean Grey agreed to this request. Although Professor Charles had not approved it, she knew that such valuable research material could not be kept. Many powerful Mutants or those with tragic experiences were unwilling for their blood samples or other research materials to fall into the wrong hands, as they could potentially end up with opposing forces and become a key to restraining them.

After leaving Jean Grey's laboratory and with Professor Charles's help, Zhou Lan, whose consciousness was asleep, was awakened. The mother and son, after bidding farewell to Charisse, left Professor Charles's Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. For Zhou Yi and Zhou Lan, many things needed to be prepared, especially after just arriving in New York.

Zhou Yi's departure did not end Jean Grey's work. She first telepathically connected with Professor Charles, informing him of the situation in the laboratory. Then, she dedicated herself to researching Zhou Yi's blood sample.

Although Jean Grey's major was psychology, as a highly intelligent Mutant with three doctorate degrees in psychology, medicine, and biological science, she voluntarily undertook the research of Zhou Yi's blood sample alone.

Firstly, she believed this was her assigned task and felt it necessary to see it through. Secondly, undeniably, she had developed a great interest in Zhou Yi's extraordinary abilities. If they originated from the X-gene, then Zhou Yi was very likely to become the most powerful Mutant after Professor Charles and Magneto Erik. This ability was not just potential but already demonstrated. If Zhou Yi's abilities did not originate from the X-gene, then how did they come about? This immense curiosity gave Jean Grey tremendous motivation and desire.

Of course, there was also the most important point: no one knew how many spies from other forces were currently embedded within Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. At least, this was the case before Professor Charles released his constraints on himself.

Therefore, the data of such a powerful Super must be kept firmly in reliable hands.

At the very least, the possibility of its leakage must be minimized. So, only she herself completing this examination was the most reassuring choice, and this data ultimately only needed to be held by a few people.

Due to all the above reasons, Jean Grey began her intense work. Of course, in such a working environment, time naturally passed quickly, and people immersed in work were naturally quite absorbed. It wasn't until someone tapped her shoulder that Jean Grey snapped back to reality.

"Jean, how are you? Has that boy left?" Ororo, who had returned and was standing behind Jean Grey, now had a curious expression, apparently having witnessed the terrible state of the laboratory's depths.

Jean Grey pinched her brow, picked up a cup of coffee, slowly swallowed a few bitter sips, and then said, "To be honest, I don't feel very good. As for that guy, there's no way we can let him stay any longer."

"Very tricky?" Ororo picked up a file next to Jean Grey's hand. The prominent X-mark on the file cover made her pupils contract. "You actually used a top-secret file!"

"You know the rules, you can look but not speak," Jean Grey said solemnly to Ororo, who had Advanced internal access to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, without stopping her from looking through the file.

Ororo nodded knowingly and opened the file in her hand.

The first page of the file contained Zhou Yi's social information, including his name, birthplace, schools attended, medical records, and basic information about his friends and family. This page was simple, like most personal data. Ororo skipped over the content of this page directly.

When she reached the next page, Ororo's expression became serious.

At the beginning of this page, Jean Grey had marked a very prominent line of text.

"A Super created by genetic mutation caused by unknown factors. A natural mutation not produced by the X-gene."

Below was the detailed report derived from Jean Grey's analysis of Zhou Yi's blood sample.

"In the target blood sample, an abnormally high rate of cell division was detected. The speed of cell division, growth, evolution, and mutation was beyond imagination. However, the cells in the target blood sample appeared to be in a state of decline, with more evolved cells consuming backward cells to maintain their stability. It is hypothesized that the energy produced by the target's body is too low to sustain efficient cell evolution, and can only maintain a low level of evolution in this manner. Testing showed that Ray No. 3 did not produce adverse reactions in the blood sample cells. The cells gained energy from the ray, increasing the speed of division and evolution, maintaining a high level of evolutionary state. Analysis concluded that the target has a positive reaction to ray irradiation, with a high probability of increasing ability strength. Cell resistance experiment: currently known to have no adverse reaction to radiation. Fusibility experiment: target cells exhibit extremely strong exclusiveness; all other injectables were engulfed and had no effect on the target cells. Further testing using viruses..."

Accompanying the detailed records were photographs taken by Jean Grey during the experiments. Clearly, she had ample evidence for her analysis. On this point, Ororo believed Jean Grey was not lying at all, and the conclusions drawn were somewhat beyond her expectations.

A natural ability user not produced by X-gene mutation, and with superpowers that were unimaginably powerful according to subsequent ability analysis. Such an existence, even for Mutants, was a blow. However, just as humans are to Mutants, for Mutants, people like Zhou Yi were simply too few, too few to change any situation.

So Ororo's first reaction was to ask Jean Grey, "What is Professor's opinion?"

"Professor hopes we have a good relationship. If we can get him to join us, that would undoubtedly be the best."

"But he is not a Mutant. We have no way, and no reason, to make him join us."

Ororo put down the file in her hand, her fingers tapping constantly on the table.

"We have no reason to make him join the X-Men, but we can ask him for help when needed. His sister is a member of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, and if possible, we can make her a member of the X-Men," Jean Grey said to Ororo, collecting the files and turning her back.

"Damn it, his sister is only eight years old now, what are you thinking? Professor won't agree." Ororo held her forehead. She had no idea why Jean Grey would say such a thing. Couldn't Mutants solve Mutant problems themselves, must they rely on external forces?

"Professor certainly won't agree. This is Scott's and my opinion, and it's not for now, but for the future. Every bit of strength, as long as it can be gained, we must spare no effort. This is not for us, but for the future of Mutants."

Ororo fell silent at this, and after a long time, she said, "I hope you haven't made a mistake, and I hope your decision won't bring tragedy."

Jean Grey nodded silently. Under her ability, the paper files were instantly disintegrated into countless pieces, and the data already archived in Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters' confidential computer would be encrypted in layers, accessible only to the most core personnel.

Unless Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters was overrun by enemies, Zhou Yi's information would never be leaked. Zhou Yi, in the eyes of the Mutant elites at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, had already become a potential hidden hand. If he could be utilized, it might be possible to make those enemies suffer greatly.

However, the only problem was how to establish a good relationship with Zhou Yi. On this point, Jean Grey's head was starting to ache from thinking.

Judging by Zhou Yi's behavior, he probably had a strong desire for the opposite sex, like most adolescent boys. But, surely they couldn't actually use a honey trap on him. First, Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters itself was just a school, established to protect Mutants, and it didn't have as strong control over its internal personnel as other organizations. Even if it did, who could they send?

If she went, Scott would probably directly laser bomb Zhou Yi's home the next day. Then, forget about any friendly relations; it would be more likely that both sides would fight to the death.

If Ororo went, as someone who had been a gang leader, she might not necessarily listen to her. Unless, there was a real possibility of interaction between them.

Thinking of this, Jean Grey couldn't help but be stunned. Then she inwardly called herself an idiot. However, no one could say for sure what the future held.

Back home in New York, Zhou Yi suddenly sneezed. Before he could say anything, Zhou Lan put her hands on her hips, immediately entering a 'tigress' state.

"Don't try that with me. If you don't explain clearly what you've been hiding today, you won't be sleeping."

"But, that's my privacy!" Zhou Yi still wanted to resist, but seeing the murderous look in Zhou Lan's Phoenix eyes, he really had no temper left.

In traditional Chinese education, the world is vast, but Mother is the greatest. In this situation, Zhou Lan, still an ordinary person, was the Master of this house, whose word was law. On this point, Zhou Yi really had nothing to say. Who told her she was his mother?

However, it was not an easy task to appease this Mother. It seemed he wouldn't be sleeping tonight.

Damn Charles, old bald head, you talk too much! Zhou Yi grumbled inwardly, but on his face, he could only put on a smile, carefully attending to his My Lord. It looked a bit miserable, but for Zhou Yi, he was actually enjoying it. Because, this was his home.
