Vivian's POV
The past month had been exhausting.
My book tour had taken me from one city to another, smiling for strangers, answering the same questions, and pretending that being surrounded by people didn't drain the life out of me. I was almost done when Ella texted me.
She had lost the baby.
I tried calling her immediately. Then again. And again. She didn't answer. My messages went unread, my calls unanswered. I even tried reaching her so-called husband, a man I had never liked to begin with, but getting through to him was impossible. Talking to her stepmother was useless too. She barely knew what went on with her daughters marriage.
It wasn't until two hours ago that Ella finally called and told me she was coming over.
