Athena POV
I don't even remember how I got here. All I knew was I was in the forest chased by a rogue who wanted to take advantage of me after my family exiled me for a crime I never committed.
My head throbbed ,my eyes slowly opened, scanning the room nervously which was beautifully designed with artistic paintings, flowers which was an extravagant beauty to behold struggling to adjust to the bright lights above me.It was an unfamiliar place which smelt like paradise on earth.
I was in a room too luxurious for an omega like me with the sun warming my face.
It was the incessant howlingthat told me I was in another pack.
I shot up in bed but a splattering headache ran through my head forcing me to lay down.
I felt an uncomfortable soreness around my body even though I slept peacefully for the first time in years.
My heart skipped a beat and many questions lingered in my mind.
" How did I get here?" My heart was pounding in my chest that almost made me jump out of my skin.
" What happened last night?"
" Good morning little puppy" I heard a sharp voice behind me and my eyes widened.
My gaze landed on a mysterious figure which was standing by my bedside with his hands crossed behind his back, his glossy blue eyes dancing before me.
I gasped and looked startled.
I have never seen this man before.
" I am not a little puppy young man " I replied in a stern voice.
A smirk curved on his lips
" That's not a good way to talk to your savior," he said in a deep tone.
" Who are you?" I demanded to know.
He chuckled.
" Look who we got here " he clapped his hands which sent a chill down my spine .
It was then the details of last night came swinging in my head.
My heart was racing and for some reason I'm biting my lips.
My mind whirled .
" Please don't hit me" I begged as memories of my suffering recoiled in my head .
Tears began to stream down my face as I shook my head violently.
" Fear not I won't harm you" his voice was low, gently his scent was intoxicating which smelled like cinnamon comforting me with soothing words.
His touch was incredibly soft as I could feel his gentle hands push the strands of my hair out of my face.
He could see a lot of scars imprinted on my body, my face was pale .
" Who has the nerve to treat people like this? " He roared clenching his fists staring at my injuries .
" Get me a doctor now" he barked at his personal maid who rushed out in a jiffy to find the pack doctor.
" No need I am fine now" I tried to protest but his eyes burned with hate and annoyance like I had committed a heinous crime.
"What are you saying ?" His cold voice cut through the room.
Just then,the pack doctor arrived with his medical kits examining my body.
He examined my pulse with beads of sweat stretching on my body.
" Alpha She has been fed with a lethal dose of moon poison"he announced his tone was flat .
" What?" he exclaimed.
" No way I cook my meals myself " I said, my voice breaking with panic.
" I have twenty years of medical experience so I couldn't be wrong," he spoke softly.
The moon poison was dangerous and in extreme cases it could lead to death if not treated on time.
I could not believe my ears that someone was killing me slowly.
I stared in confusion.
" Find a way to save her, no pack members will diedie under my watch " he rolled his eyes atthe pack doctor.
The pack doctor thought for a moment and the room was dead silent.
" The only way for me to neutralize the poison is acupuncture" his voice was quivering as he spoke.
Please save me " I begged my voice cracking clutching onto Alpha Liam clothes tightly.
" I don't know if she can endure the pain" he looked at me while I blinked my eyelids approving the treatment to begin.
" Take this" the torment will be unbearable but you have to endure or become paralyzed for life.
I had to turn to the other side of the bed closing my eyes firmly.
Alpha Liam caressed my head hoping I would survive the fatal blow which had been stuck in my body for ages.
" You will be fine" Alpha Liam reassured me patting my head gently.
He inserted the needle into my system,a sharp pain shot through my body but my savior held my hand .
" Argh " I whimpered in pain as the needle pierced into my body .
I bit on the bark of the tree which was placed in my mouth as he used the handkerchief to wipe the tears which rolled down my face.
The pain was unbearable but I can't just die yet.
He gently removed the needle and a feeling of warmth spread through my chest, my muscles stretched and my heavy breathing returned to normal.
" You have had a rough time out there?" he asked me kindly.
I nod my head struggling to breath with the weight of pain still fresh in my mind.
" You are safe here no one will harm you" he swore to protect me at all times.
" Why am I here? " I asked my voice slowly as he sat beside me.
" That's what I should be asking you because you stumbled into my pack territory and that is a capital offence " he raised his eyebrows glaring at me.
" I am sorry to have barged into your territory, forgive my short sightedness" I apologized as he observed me with calculated eyes.
" Well this is the Night Wind pack and I saved you from the rogues " he explained his tone was clear and firm.
" What were you doing in the forest late at night? It is not safe for you to be out in the forest all alone
" he spoke out of concern.
His blue eyes had black patches underneath as he had been taking care of me all night without having a wink of sleep.
" Thank you for saving me " I said, bowing my head, my eyes pooling with tears.
" I will leave once I am better and repay your kindness "
" I will take you home just tell me your address" he sighed deeply, staring at my ruffled clothes. My hair was in a mess but I knew I couldn't go back to Red Creek since I had been banished.
" I don't have a home" my voice cracked, tears dripping like a waterfall reminiscing my memories with the Red creek.
" It's alright darling" he patted my back gently subduing my cries.
No one cared for me, not like how this man did.
I felt a warmth inside my chest,a feeling that I had never experienced before .
" My name is Alpha Liam " he introduced himself, his stare fixed on me as I held my breath.
Alpha Liam ?A cold shrill crept its way up my spine. That was the person I should not have crossed paths with. He was the least person I expected to save me.
Alpha Liam was known to be a heartless man, the strongest wolf of all packs . Everyone feared him and he was not interested in women.
" Athena I'm not a monster "he called out and I peeled my eyes open hearing my name from his lips.
I flinched.
My brow furrowed.
" How did he know my name?" That is the question burning on my lips right now.
I never had friends in the pack even as the Alpha's daughter,so I couldn't attend formal gatherings.
I could only watch from a distance because everyone was afraid I would taint the pure bloodline which could cause major chaos in the pack.
" You can join my pack if you want I won't force you " I looked at his cold looking face devoid of emotions, his sharp voice was stern making my body shiver uncontrollably.
It all felt like a dream escaping the clutches of the Red Creek pack knowing my savior had been murdered by someone and I was not safe there either.
" Was that an approval ?" My face glinted.
My heart raced as his words hit my ears.
The Night Wind pack doesn't allow strangers into their pack casually, not even to talk of a human in the wolven world.
" But I'm human, a wolf-less omega with nothing to offer you Alpha " my voice stuttered my eyes upon meeting his.
He turned to me, throwing me a hard glare for questioning his decision.
He observed the fear reflecting in my eyes and he could taste it and smell it lingering in the air.
He was stunned.
A deep silence swept between us.
No one could ever believe that the daughter of a noble bloodline was wolf-less, which was seen as an insult to the pack's dignity.
" It doesn't matter we should not treat anyone differently because of their race or status"he stood up frowning at my words.
I froze.
I never thought someone powerful would care about a human girl who knew nothing .
I knew better than anyone there was danger in the woods even for the strongest wolves, the evil was still lurking.
I thought for a moment, scratching my head.
" I will stay here on one condition" I cleared my throat which had become hoarse.
I let out a slow breath .
" If your terms are reasonable you have my word " he rolled his eyes sipping his champagne slowly eagerly waiting .
" That is only if you can help me in finding my wolf " I lowered my head, hiding my face from his view, feeling embarrassed.
The cup in his hand splashed to the marble floor a loud sound vibrated through the room, its fragments scattered all over the floor.
" Are you bargaining with your alpha?" His head jerks up.
" I am the most revered werewolf and you don't make deals with me " he added flaring up ,staring at me.
He growled at me.
His face turned red with anger giving me a wide scared look.
My hands trembled his eyes hard as he observed me closely.
I swallowed hard, pressing hard on the spot, my mind reeling trying to process the implication of my words.
A chill forced its way into my heart, shutting my eyes tightly waiting for the unimaginable thing but nothing happened.
He hesitated for a moment, taking a long deep breath before answering .
His expression was unreadable
" I accept your request only if you can help me to find the sanctuary"he grinned at me and his reply left me stunned.
