Chapter 178 - 7 Stars · Possession Returns, Falna Level lv6

Levi narrowed his eyes.

The Hōgyoku, originating from the Bleach world and capable of breaking limits, was certainly not weak. However, whether used on his Falna level or his skills, the cooldown time appeared slightly too long.

Let's run an experiment.

With this thought in mind, Levi opened his Inventory and took out two 'Skill Star-Up Cards' left over from his past kill of Udaeus.

He then pressed one of them onto a 3-star skill he had recently acquired.

[...Limit Break successful. Skill star level increased from 3-Star to 4-Star (view specific effects). Hōgyoku Cooldown: 13.5 days.]

Seeing the content of the '+' sign prompt change, Levi raised an eyebrow.

He then applied the second Star-Up Card.

This time, the star level after the limit break directly became 5-Star, and the Hōgyoku's cooldown time correspondingly extended to 45.5 days.

Can I only use one Skill Star-Up Card per limit break?

Thinking this, he retracted the two cards. He then took a 'Martial Arts Skill Book' he had drawn previously but hadn't had time to use, applying it to the skill in the same manner.

[...Limit Break successful. Skill star level increased from 3-Star to 4-Star (view specific effects). Hōgyoku Cooldown: 13.5 days.]

Next was the second book.

[...Limit Break successful. Skill star level increased from 3-Star to 4-Star (view specific effects). Hōgyoku Cooldown: 6.25 days.]

The third book.

[...Limit Break successful. Skill star level increased from 3-Star to 4-Star (view specific effects). Hōgyoku Cooldown: 3.125 days.]

The fourth book, the fifth book, the sixth book...

Only when the Hōgyoku's cooldown time was forcibly compressed to less than half a day did Levi remove all the Skill Books.

He then switched tactics: one Skill Book + one Skill Star-Up Card.

[...Limit Break successful. Skill star level increased from 3-Star to 4-Star (view specific effects). Hōgyoku Cooldown: 0 days.]

The combination of these two could already allow a max-proficiency skill to evolve.

The appearance of the Hōgyoku essentially just saved him a few 'Proficiency Increase Tickets'.

Of course, through the previous attempts, it was already proven that the Hōgyoku's cooldown time after a limit break was not immutable.

Since that's the case...

Thoughts flickered in Levi's mind.

He opened his Inventory. From monster drop materials to Valis and Magic Stones, to weapons and Magic Skill Books he had no use for from past gacha pulls, and even Law Crystals.

He took them all out and used them in combination with the Hōgyoku a few times.

As for the effects...

Bow-type weapons could reduce the Hōgyoku cooldown for Archery-type skill star-ups. The extent was similar to Skill Books: the more used and the higher the star level, the shorter the cooldown time.

One-handed swords, two-handed swords, and spears corresponded to One-Handed Swordsmanship, Two-Handed Swordsmanship, and Spearmanship.

Magic Tools could slightly reduce the cooldown for Magic or Element Control star-ups, but the extent was very low—not even a day. After all, most of the Magic Tools Levi had on hand were only 3-Star or 4-Star, whereas his Magic and Element Control skills were, without exception, all 6-Star.

Furthermore, the new skill effects added after a star-up came almost entirely from the effects of the weapons used.

Valis and Magic Stones provided no cooldown reduction.

However, Law Crystals could be called a universal remedy.

They could be used anywhere, and the price was clearly marked.

1 crystal could directly zero out the cooldown for raising a 3-Star skill to a 4-Star skill.

10 crystals could allow a 6-Star skill to instantly advance to a 7-Star skill.

100 crystals could raise a 7-Star skill to 8-Star.

Besides this, the cooldown after breaking the limit of the Falna level could also be reduced using Law Crystals. The consumption for subsequent levels was unclear, but for Lv.5 rising to Lv.6, it was 16 crystals.

Development Abilities were more direct: 1 level consumed one Law Crystal.

As for monster drop materials...

The vast majority of them, such as scales, leather, claws, and teeth, could not bring any reduction to the Hōgyoku's cooldown time.

But there was a small handful, such as monster hearts and monster blood, that could slightly reduce the cooldown time after a Falna level limit break.

The specific magnitude varied from 99.99% to 95% depending on the monster's level.

Levi's Spirit Clones had been farming monsters in the 37th Floor and 30th Floor for nearly a month. Even though the vast majority of materials had been converted into Valis Vouchers, he had still kept quite a bit of stock.

Upon discovering that this inventory could be of use to his current self, he didn't hesitate for even a moment. He took out all monster drop materials related to hearts and blood from his Inventory and went 'all-in' on his Falna level.

[...Limit Break successful. Level changed from Lv.5 to Lv.6. Hōgyoku Cooldown: 1.2 days.]

Levi couldn't wait half a year for the cooldown.

But for just over a day? Anyone with a normal brain wouldn't choose to refuse.

However, before raising his Character Level, Levi pondered for two seconds. He then took out 10 Law Crystals and, with a snap, slapped them onto the skill 'Multiple Possession'.

[Multiple Possession · 6-Star (-) → Possession Ascension · 7-Star (-)]

[Main Quest 4: Learn an 8-Star Magic or Skill. Reward: High-Rank Skill Star-Up Card x2.]

Similar to the 'Constellation Resonance' back then and the current 'Constellation Awakening', because it originated from the manifestation of a Development Ability, 'Multiple Possession' also had no way to cheat the system. He couldn't use items other than Law Crystals to forcibly lower the cooldown time after the limit break.

Fortunately, although it consumed 10 Law Crystals, the basic effect of 'Possession Ascension' rising to 7-Star—which now allowed Levi to possess six Class Cards simultaneously in one breath—was already worth the ticket price to some extent.

If one also counted the extra function of raising the Class Card Possession Level... one could only say that 7-Star skills were indeed 7-Star skills; each one was so strong it defied all logic.

As for the increase in Falna Level, since it wasn't the first time, there wasn't much to say.

With the help of the Ability Stat buffs from the 'Tenacity of the Millelith Set + Heaven's Feel + Constellation Awakening', the current Levi's base combat power had firmly stepped into the ranks of Lv.8.

Adding the effect bonuses from 'Cold Edge Martial Arts' and his many incomplete Arcanum, even if placed back a dozen years ago when the Zeus Familia and Hera Familia were still around, he would still firmly rank at the forefront of the Orario combat power rankings, perhaps even taking the top spot.

However, perhaps because he had used the Hōgyoku's limit break function once before leveling up, when he advanced to Lv.6, among the Development Abilities available for selection, besides those left over from last time, there was an additional one: 'Limit Break'.

Levi had previously tasted the many benefits brought by 'Genshin' and 'Possession', so naturally, he wouldn't be foolish enough to choose other Development Abilities at this time.

[Development Ability: Limit Break I (When using Hōgyoku to break limits, consumption and cooldown are reduced by 5%)]

[Hōgyoku (Cooldown Time: 1.2 days → 1.14 days)]

The appearance of 'Limit Break' did not bring a new skill, but its own effect alone was enough to surprise Levi greatly.

The lowest 'I' rank could reduce cooldown and consumption by 5%. If raised to 'S' rank, it would be equivalent to investing a weapon or skill book of the same star level in advance for every limit break!

Almost forgot.

Levi patted his head and opened the Exchange Store.

Because his Character Level had risen to Lv.6, the Law Crystals that were previously out of stock could now be exchanged for another five.

He didn't hesitate; 500 million Valis Vouchers were instantly consumed, changing the total number of Law Crystals in his hand from 64 to 69.
