Chapter 7 - Blood-Sucking Vampires

Alvira POV.

After whispering to each other, Gianna returned back to me. Her anger was gone and I expected her to say she no longer needed me but instead, she told me her father-in-law would soon arrive and I needed to learn everything I could about him.

However despite all Gianna told me about Felix Axton, nothing prepared me for this moment.

Being in the same car as him felt so suffocating that I had to confirm twice if the AC was really on.

Even though he was a man in his early seventies, he was far from looking frail and instead, his eyes held a kind of authority that can not be undermine. Even Gianna lower her eyes when she speaks to him.

"You seem nervous."

"No. I just....I just don't feel like going to a party."

"I understand. If you ask me, the reason for this event is ridiculous. Celebrating a peace union between werewolves and vampires when we still hate each other is madness." Felix scoffed.

Vampires? Did he just say vampires, like blood sucking vampires?

"Has your marriage been consummated?" Felix asked.

I shook my head and the look he gave me clearly showed how displeased he was with my answer.

"I may not like Kaldric because of the vampire blood that runs in his vein but my dislike for him do not change the fact that he is currently the most powerful man in the world. He is the head of the Verlith family, the Alpha of the moonstone pack and a prince in the vampire world. Kaldric is unique and any child born from him, will be no different from a golden egg."

"I...I don't understand."

"Your marriage with Kaldric can only be secure with a child, Alvira. You and I know he doesn't love you and if it was up to him, he would have married Emily rather than you but I made sure, you became his wife, so do not let me down."

"I won't." A child. It is not uncommon for a arrange marriage to be solidify with a child, however, whatever child born from Kaldric will definitely have a vampire blood and from the way Felix spoke, it was obvious he hated their kind so why does he want his child?

The limo finally stopped and I came down from the car after grandpa.

We both walked together to the castle like mansion were the party was being held and the moment we entered inside, Felix separated himself from me to speak to his kind and I looked at everyone here, feeling a little scared that I was in the same room with vampires.

What if one of them suddenly gets hungry and decided to use me for dinner?

I wish Kaldric was here, with me but for some reason he was neither answering my calls nor replying to my messages.

I wonder if it was something I did last night. Perhaps last night was terrible for him.

I wonder why a man I met just last night was affecting so much.

Sure, we had sex, but that makes him no different from a one-night stand. I mean, I have seen people come to the club to find a hot guy to lose it to, so if I could just see last night as a one-night stand, never to happen again, then I should be alright.

I should...

'Mine.'

His words from last night suddenly flash in my head, and I find myself back at square one, hoping to see him before the day ends.

I suddenly felt my phone vibrating in my purse and thinking it was him calling me, I quickly took it out only to see Gianna's name on the screen.

Disappointed, I accepted the call.

"Hello."

"Both I and Kaldric parents will be coming together. Since today is a peace night, both families has decided for you both to have your wedding reception tonight."

"Wedding reception? But Kaldric isn't even here."

"He will be there. I'm sure he is going to arrived with Emily." Gianna said with a hunt if disgust in her voice.

I guess she really does hate Emily and even I'm also starting to hate her.

I hate the fact that Kaldric has been with her all morning.

"Ensure Kaldric parents like you, Alvira. Tonight, I need you to be the perfect daughterinlaw and for you to not mess this up for my daughter."

"I understand." I said and ended the call.

"Alvira."

I raise my head to see the same man who had handed Kaldric the ring and had driven us to the penthouse.

With his messy blond hair and cheeky grin, I could tell right away that he was a playboy.

He collected two glasses of champagne from a passing waiter and handed ome to me.

"Thank you." I said as collected the drink but made no attempt to drink it.

"Don't tell me you are waiting for Kaldric before you even take a sip." He tease.

I laughed softly "No, it's not that. I'm a very light drinker. One glass could get me drunk, and we wouldn't want that at my wedding reception, right?"

"Oh no. I can just imagine the horrific look on Aunt Hazel's face if she were to find you drunk on this day." He laughed and then stretch forth his hand for a handshake "I'm Lexior."

I smiled as I shook his hand "Alvira."

After introducing ourselves, he emptied his glass and said "You don't have to be nervous. Today is just another peace night, and the only difference would be Kaldric introducing you in front of everyone as his wife."

"Where is Kaldric?" The question left my mouth before I could think but I didn't regret asking him.

He looked at the watch on his wrist and mummured "He should be here by now."

He looked around and then his eyes lit up at the entrance of the hall, "There he is."

I looked at the direction he was pointing, and my heart fell when I saw her beside him.

Kaldric walked inside the hall majestically, like a king, and beside him was Emily. The way they both walked inside in such sync could make anyone believe that they were a couple, and even I couldn't deny how perfect they look together.

In contrast with the black gown I had worn, Emily wore a fitting white gown that showcased the beautiful shape of her body, and I didn't even need to look around to see the women looking at her with envy and the men drooling over her.

"You look jealous."

I flinched when I felt Lexior's hot breath fanning my ears.

He looked at me with a charming smile, no less the type he most definitely used to get ladies in bed.

"Why would I be jealous?"

He stared at me with an unreadable expression as Kaldric and Emily walked closer to us.

"I know you and Emily don't get along, and you are used to harassing her whenever you see her, but please, Alvira, not tonight. Tonight is a symbol of peace, so do not let your jealousy ruin it."

"I told you, I'm not jealous."

"Lexior," Kaldric called out, making Lexior turn to him. They both shook hands, and I looked at Emily, who was staring back at me.

She smiled softly and said, "I know today is your day, and you won't like to see my face on this day, but Alpha Kaldric invited me, and I couldn't say no. Please, forgive me."

Kaldric frowns. "Why are you asking her to forgive you when you have done nothing wrong? Alvira, whether you like it or not, Emily is a part of my life, and I want no drama tonight."

His eyes on me held no warmth, and the cold way he had just spoken to me made me feel as if I was a stranger to him.

It felt like last night didn't even happen.

Did I perhaps imagine giving myself to Kaldric? Was everything a dream I had mistaken as a reality?

But then again, what exactly was I expecting? A different treatment just because we slept together last night.

I shouldn't even feel disappointed. I was already used to being treated like this. Like I never matter.
