The next morning when Roxy and Kaelen emerged from the bedroom properly dressed and cleaned, the scene before them made them stand still to watch in awe.

Zarek was sitting on the wooden bench near the window, holding little Iris. The baby girl was fussy again, her face scrunching up as she chewed on her own fist.
Zarek looked tired but patient, rocking her with his large, warm hands.

His neon eyes landed on Roxy, then flicked to Kaelen. He smelled the change immediately. The heavy scent of the Wolf's claim hung over them like a banner.
