Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Searching for a Lost Lamb

Of course, all of Izumi's thoughts about "creating a size-changing loli" were purely fantasies for the time being.

Even though he possessed the Third Magic now, he had no alchemy, no equipment, and certainly no knowledge to create an artificial human.

Still, a seed had been planted. And someday—someday—he would create Illya.

This world had no Einzbern family, no homunculus system…So if he wanted her, he'd just have to do it himself.

Yes…Fuse wife-material and Illya together…Evolve them…and obtain a loli who can shrink or grow at will.

Perfect.

Beautiful.

The dream!

With such delightful delusions filling his head, Izumi drifted off to sleep. It was about time to go meet the daughter of Zhou Gong and discuss philosophy anyway.

Meanwhile, Kuoh Town began to stir with hidden activity.Familiars roamed through streets and alleys, searching for signs of Fallen Angels.

They found nothing.

The Fallen had hidden themselves too well.

As for the Church's faction… there was no movement at all.And the devils didn't bother searching near them.

The phrase "the darkest place is under the lamp" fit perfectly here.

No one suspected that the church in Kuoh Town had already been quietly occupied by Fallen Angels.

The next day, Izumi only woke up around noon.

Even with his massive magical reserves, Izumi was still Izumi—someone who valued his sleep.Having infinite mana didn't mean one could skip rest.He still had the completely normal urge to stay in bed forever.

After fixing himself something simple to eat, he headed out.

Today, he planned to try his luck—perhaps he could "pick up" a certain blonde nun.

Since the Fallen Angels had arrived in this city, that meant the healing nun should also be here.

Asia was someone Izumi absolutely wouldn't miss. She was such a great Sacred Gear user—what a waste to leave her to Rias.

Wouldn't it be better to recruit her as his own healer?

He himself was ADC.Kato Megumi was assassin/jungler.Add a healer nun?

Perfect trio.

Then he'd just need a mage.Or he could be the mage himself.

After all, melee mage?Unlimited mana nuke spam?

Completely viable!

But he couldn't replace a healer. No matter what, he'd need one eventually.

So why not choose a cute, gentle, easily pushable nun?

Asia was simply irresistible.

A bit too saintly as a person, but… details, details.

With that mindset, Izumi spent the afternoon wandering aimlessly through Kuoh Town.

The town was much larger than the one depicted in the anime. It would take a long time to walk the entire place.

Fortunately, everything seemed peaceful. No troublemaking devils showed up.Under the control of the Gremory and Sitri households, the local devils behaved themselves.

Not to mention the presence of the anti-demon security force and magic enforcers.Causing trouble in Kuoh Town was basically suicide.

This land belonged to two Maou families.Starting trouble here was the same as slapping them in the face.

If that wasn't worth a point-blank magic cannon blast, nothing was.

After wandering for half the day, Izumi still hadn't found the little nun.Instead, he ran into an assassin—Kato Megumi.

She looked at him with a very strange expression.

"Izumi-kun, I've seen you walk past here several times already."

"Are you looking for something?"

"Or…"Her eyes narrowed."Are you out here hoping for a… chance encounter? Like picking up a hungover beauty?"

Her expression screamed, I misjudged you.

If Izumi said yes, his reputation in her mind would plummet straight into the abyss.

Izumi sighed.

"Megumi-chan, am I really that untrustworthy in your eyes?"

"I mean, sure, I'd like to do that one day… but I'd much rather pick you up and bring you home instead."

Megumi's expression grew even more complicated.

"…Do I look like someone who would get drunk and collapse on the street?"

"First of all, we're underage."

"Second, even if I did drink, I wouldn't pass out on the sidewalk."

"So your plan is doomed from the start, Izumi-kun~~!!"

She gave him a playful yet accusatory glance.

Izumi rolled his eyes and continued walking.

"Fair enough."

"And besides, with your weirdly low presence, no one would find you even if you did pass out."

He snorted.Indeed—Kato Megumi's existence-level was so faint that even if she slept on the street all night, people would probably walk past without noticing.

The thought alone was hilarious.

Megumi puffed her cheeks slightly.

Did he have to make her sound so pitiful?

Not wanting to get dragged further into that conversation, she returned to her original question.

"So, Izumi-kun, are you looking for something?"

"If you can tell me, maybe I can help."

She had actually noticed him much earlier. He'd been pacing around the area several times. While suppressing her presence, she had watched him walk by from close range.

What could possibly make Izumi—someone who normally would stay home—wander around the city searching for something?

Izumi shrugged.

"A lost little lamb."

"If you have time, Megumi-chan, you can walk with me."

Since they already met, he had no reason not to drag her along in the search for Asia.

Megumi looked at him curiously.

"A lost lamb…?"

"Izumi-kun, are you planning to join the Church?"

Izumi shook his head.

"No. Just looking for someone."

"I'm not even sure she's here. If not, then this is just a walk."

"If we do find her, then it's good luck."

Finding Asia would take time, and he wasn't even sure she had arrived yet.Even with Fallen Angels already here, there was no guarantee Asia had been sent along.

So he was simply gambling on luck.

Megumi nodded thoughtfully.

If he wasn't telling her now, she knew she'd learn eventually. There was no need to pressure him.

So the two treated it like a casual stroll.

They chatted easily, discussing training methods and schoolwork.Izumi had already mastered everything the teachers taught.

Megumi listened while walking, asking occasional questions—clearly holding genuine interest.

After all, she knew Izumi's strength. He had his own sharp insights on martial arts.
