NATHAN'S POINT OF VIEW (Note: Some scenes are not written from Alex's POV, so please don't be confused)
The doctor left after giving us the room number and saying we could visit soon. Everyone started talking at once. Victoria was already planning, talking about nurseries and baby names. Richard was smiling. Isabelle was hugging Eva.
But I noticed Alex hadn't moved. He was just standing there, staring at nothing.
I walked over to him. "Alex?"
He looked at me. "I didn't know. She didn't know either."
"I know."
"A baby." He said it like he was testing the word. "We're having a baby."
"Congratulations."
He laughed, but it sounded slightly hysterical. "I don't know if I'm ready for this."
"I don't think anyone ever is."
We stood there for a moment. Then Alex looked at me, really looked at me. "I'm sorry. For earlier. For accusing your father without proof."
"You had reason to be suspicious."
