Upon hearing Li Feng's suggestion for an alliance between the Aeldari and humanity, several Battle Sisters initially couldn't hold back, and even Little Kitten expressed some reservations.
"Uh... Sir... this, we'd best..."
Li Feng thought about it... Indeed, he, Li Feng, couldn't make the final decision yet. Even Yvraine, across from him, felt it wasn't very reliable...
"Mr. Li, we believe your intentions are good. However, humans and we Aeldari have been fighting for so many years; I don't think the Imperium can change its attitude towards us so quickly..."
Li Feng turned to look at Little Kitten. Little Kitten panicked: "Why are you looking at me? I'm just the Adeptus Custodes Deputy Commander, I have no real power."
"I don't have the final say, but can the Emperor approve it?"
"If the Emperor can approve it, then it can be spread as an edict throughout the entire Imperium across the galaxy... No way, you're not thinking of..."
Li Feng looked at Yvraine, who immediately felt a sense of foreboding.
"Yvraine, we're going to Terra. Do you want to come along? You can talk to the Emperor."
Yvraine froze, a flicker of shock and unease in her eyes. Although she was a relatively open-minded faction among the Aeldari, even she found it hard to imagine a direct dialogue between the Aeldari and the Emperor.
Terra was the capital of the Imperium, where the Emperor, worshipped by trillions of humans, sat upon the glorious Golden Throne, controlling the entire galactic Imperium. For an Aeldari representative to go to that supreme center and directly negotiate with the Emperor was undoubtedly a huge leap.
"Go to Terra... and speak with the Emperor?" Yvraine's voice held a hint of uncertainty. "This might be an unprecedented move for the Aeldari in tens of thousands of years."
Her voice didn't hide her doubts. The Aeldari and humans had too deep a-seated animosity, from wars to cultural barriers, plus the Aeldari's unique understanding of the Warp. All of this made her pessimistic about the prospect of an alliance.
Li Feng nodded, saying earnestly, "Yes, go directly to the Emperor. We can't convince the entire Imperium with our words alone, but if we can get the Emperor's approval, everything might change. The Emperor is the only one who can make this decision."
Little Kitten, as the Adeptus Custodes Deputy Commander, already felt the seriousness and complexity of the situation. He chose to remain silent, as if something went wrong, Li Feng, the "tall one," would take the fall; it wasn't his job.
Meanwhile, Li Feng had come up with a countermeasure or a theory: the "East Asian-Native American Homologous Ancestry Theory." History and the right to interpret it are in the hands of power. As long as the Terra Imperial Palace and the Aeldari officialdom recognize that the two races actually share the same ancestor, or that both races belong to the same biological lineage, it would suffice.
(Here, the old setting where Aeldari and humans can intermarry and have mixed-race children, though having children is difficult, is adopted.)
This way, the Aeldari could be classified as "abhumans"... The Imperium does have abhumans, such as Ogryn, Squats, Catgirls, and the like... After all, the Aeldari's appearance is very similar to humans, and although there are slight differences in organ structure, there is no reproductive isolation. After a few generations of interbreeding, the Aeldari, who already have difficulty reproducing, might even be completely assimilated by humans.
If one wanted to be more radical, one could gradually use the Imperium's genetic technology to extract the essence and remove the dross from mixed-race genes, thereby completing the ascension of all humanity.
A heavy atmosphere permeated the air, and subtle tension showed on the faces of the Battle Sisters. Even in their most loyal faith, such a situation had never been conceived. The Aeldari, this ancient and mysterious alien race, sitting at the same table with the Emperor of Mankind, would completely break down millennia of barriers.
Finally, Yvraine sighed deeply: "All right, Mr. Li, I am willing to go to Terra with you and see if the Emperor is truly willing to listen to our voices. I hope you can protect our safety, for as your saying goes, for us, it's 'entering the tiger's den.'"
Soon after, as Yvraine and Visarch completed communication with the Aeldari spacecraft, a huge spatial rift opened in front of the Aeldari fleet.
"Oh, oh, this is the legendary Webway!"
The Webway, as one of the Aeldari's last trump cards, allowed them to traverse star systems without relying on the Warp, instantly teleporting themselves out of danger. However, the Webway was also the last barrier of their civilization in this universe—if this defense line were breached, the demise of the Aeldari might be imminent.
At this moment, on the bridge, the captain and crew all cast their gaze towards Li Feng, clearly hesitant about whether to follow the Aeldari into the Webway. Li Feng nodded firmly, and the crew could only silently utter "Emperor protect us" in their hearts, slowly steering the ship into the Webway.
As the saying goes, "trust the person you use, and don't use the person you doubt." Since Li Feng had already decided to bring Guilliman and Yvraine together, why not consider Yvraine as his future... daughter-in-law?
Thinking of this, Li Feng suddenly had a flash of inspiration, and a rather absurd thought arose in his mind. He and Huron had become sworn brothers, and Huron was Guilliman's son—if Huron met the Emperor, would he have to call her... Sister-in-law? And if he met Yvraine, would he have to call her... Niece-in-law?
Li Feng quickly shook his head, trying to make these bizarre thoughts disappear from his mind. As the ship entered the Webway, Li Feng looked out through the viewport, awestruck by the sight before him.
"This feels like entering a portal in the game 'Apex,'" he thought to himself. The speed inside the Webway was dizzying, as if being in a giant energy pipe, with the spaceship being propelled forward like a bullet.
But soon, he noticed that everyone on the bridge—Little Kitten, Celestine, Fides, the Sisters of Silence, Yvraine—were all staring at him with a strange look.
"Why are you looking at me? Is there something on my face?" Li Feng asked, puzzled.
At this moment, in the eyes of these people, Li Feng's entire body was enveloped in a mysterious white light, as if a ray of light outlined his silhouette. Even the Sisters of Silence, who were highly desensitized and extremely resistant to psychic powers, could clearly see this peculiar phenomenon.
Meanwhile, a lost entity deep within the Webway and the Warp was also attracted by that white light, slowly approaching their direction... Just as Li Feng had not yet noticed the anomaly on himself, the atmosphere on the bridge became subtle.
Whether it was Yvraine, Little Kitten, Celestine, or the Sisters of Silence, they were all surprised and confused by the scene before them.
The white light around Li Feng seemed to manifest uncontrollably, and even the Aeldari crew on the adjacent ship stopped what they were doing, gazing through the viewport at the phenomenon on their end.
"Mr. Li... are you feeling unwell?" Yvraine asked cautiously, with a hint of wariness in her tone. As an Aeldari, she keenly sensed an unusual power flowing around Li Feng.
"No, what are you talking about? What's wrong with me?"
Li Feng looked down at himself, touched left and right, but there was nothing! What was wrong with him? The next second, he left the Webway... The light outside the viewport, that distant, giant orange-yellow star told Li Feng... he was home!
