Chapter 294 - Chapter 293 — Bounties! Reverse Engineering Haki

East Blue

Waters of the Conomi Archipelago

After defeating Arlong, the Straw Hat crew sailed aboard the Going Merry, heading toward Loguetown. The atmosphere on deck was lively as they celebrated with a small party.

"Luffy! Luffy!"

Usopp waved a sheet of paper excitedly.

"It's your bounty poster! 30 million berries! That's amazing!"

"Mmm—my bounty?"

Luffy's mouth was stuffed full of food. His eyes lit up instantly. Stretching his arm across the deck, he snatched the poster from Usopp's hands.

The moment he saw the 30,000,000 printed on it, he burst out laughing.

"Hahaha! I've got a bounty now!"

Bang!

A fist smashed down onto Luffy's head.

"You're too loud!"

Nami glared at him with irritation as he bounced around beside her.

"Ow…"

Luffy rubbed his head, but the grin on his face didn't fade.

Zoro glanced at the noisy trio, then turned his head toward Sanji, who stood nearby holding two bounty posters with a strangely serious expression.

"Hey, curly brows. What are you spacing out for?"

Zoro yawned lazily.

"Shut it, you moss-head!"

Sanji snapped back automatically, but his voice lacked its usual fire.

"…It's nothing."

The unusual tone immediately caught the others' attention. Luffy, Nami, and Usopp rushed over curiously.

Soon, everyone crowded around to look at the posters in Sanji's hands.

Magic Eye Pirates Captain — "Magician" Yuuki

Suspected Devil Fruit user

Bounty: 100,000,000 berries

Magic Eye Pirates Vice-Captain — "Black Robe" Conrad

Devil Fruit user

Bounty: 75,000,000 berries

"One hundred million?!"

Usopp's eyes bulged as he shrank back instinctively.

"That's incredible…"

Compared to Usopp's shock, Luffy seemed far calmer.

"Wait… aren't these the two you mentioned before?"

Nami suddenly remembered something, her voice tinged with unease.

"The ones who wiped out the Krieg Pirates like it was nothing?"

Sanji exhaled a puff of smoke.

For once, he didn't show his usual lovestruck expression toward Nami.

Instead, memories resurfaced—of the two men casually ignoring him as if he were nothing.

He nodded slowly.

"Yeah."

"They're the ones Zeff mentioned too."

"The guys who turned the Baratie upside down."

"They look pretty strong," Luffy said cheerfully.

Then he slapped Sanji on the shoulder.

"Don't worry! If we meet them, I'll punch them flying!"

"Haha!"

Sanji scowled.

"I don't need your help."

"I'll deal with them myself."

Meanwhile

Aboard the Magic Eye Pirates' ship

Since gaining their magic powers, Mohji and Cabaji had spent their days training relentlessly, learning to control their abilities.

The sea never lacked pirate crews.

Perfect training targets.

Most of the pirate crews destroyed recently had actually been defeated by Mohji and Cabaji themselves.

During training, they also discovered something interesting.

Inside the magic eye symbol on their Magic Eye Crosses, small numbers were engraved.

Cabaji's was 9.

Mohji's was 10.

At first they didn't understand the meaning.

But after a sparring match, everything became clear.

Originally, Mohji had held the number 9.

However, after Cabaji defeated him in battle, their numbers switched.

Cabaji became 9.

Mohji became 10.

The discovery ignited a silent rivalry between them.

It also reminded them of the title Yuuki had mentioned before:

The Ten Circle Generals.

Dream World

On an endless green plain, the wind rustled softly through the grass.

Yuuki stood quietly, inhaling the scent of earth and greenery.

This was the world created by Dream Magic.

The ability belonged to Dorothy Unsworth, captain of the Coral Peacocks in the Clover Kingdom. Her magic could drag enemies—and even objects—into a dream dimension.

Unlike Dorothy's whimsical dream world filled with toys and pastel colors, Yuuki's dream realm was a vast, open prairie.

He already knew his bounty had reached 100 million berries.

But to Yuuki, that was trivial.

His attention lay elsewhere.

Standing before him were two enormous figures.

Dorry the Blue Ogre

Brogy the Red Ogre

The two giants stood nearly twelve meters tall.

Their bodies had been far too large for Yuuki's laboratory, so he simply moved them into the dream world.

Though they had died and were now controlled by Corpse Spirit Magic, something about them had changed.

Their bodies emitted a faint vital aura, as if they were alive again.

Yet their eyes remained empty.

Still and lifeless.

Clearly, this wasn't true resurrection.

Yuuki smiled faintly.

"Interesting."

"As expected, life energy is contained within living energy."

"With that confirmed, the prerequisites for resurrection magic are basically complete."

His voice carried a hint of excitement.

After mastering Zetten, Yuuki's control over Ki had become extremely refined.

Since Ki was essentially the life energy circulating within the body, it made sense that it contained fragments of life force itself.

And his recent research had confirmed exactly that.

More importantly—

The deeper he studied it, the clearer something became.

Living energy wasn't just a way to enhance magic.

It could form an entirely separate power system.

Or rather—

That system already existed in this world.

Haki.

Yuuki raised his arm.

With a slight tremor, a layer of black Armament Haki spread across it, giving his skin a metallic sheen.

At that moment—

Dorry suddenly moved.

He raised both hands and grasped the air.

Mineral Creation Magic — Sword of Victory!

A massive stone sword materialized instantly.

With a thunderous roar, the giant blade crashed down toward Yuuki.

BOOM!

Yuuki punched upward.

His Haki-coated fist collided with the blade.

A deafening explosion erupted.

Shockwaves tore up the grass beneath them, sending dirt flying.

Yuuki smiled faintly.

His fist opened into a hand.

He grabbed the stone blade—

—and snapped it in half.

CRACK!

Fragments of rock scattered across the plain.

Dorry lowered his hands.

The mineral sword vanished.

He returned to standing motionless.

Yuuki glanced at his Haki-covered arm.

"Using it is actually quite simple."

"If Mana Skin specializes in defending against magical attacks…"

"Then Armament Haki specializes in defending against physical attacks."

A thought crossed his mind.

When he eventually returned to the Black Clover world, Haki might prove surprisingly effective against Asta's Anti-Magic.

Yuuki dismissed the Haki.

With a mere thought, the devastated grassland restored itself instantly.

He hadn't expected to learn Haki this way.

Originally, he had planned to find someone who could teach it to him.

But now he understood.

What was Haki?

Before learning to control Ki, Yuuki had only a vague concept.

In this world's explanation, Haki was a latent power possessed by all humans—manifestations of will, killing intent, fighting spirit, and presence.

When these invisible forces were controlled and weaponized, they became Haki.

But from Yuuki's perspective now—

Haki was simply another application of Ki.

Armament Haki was the easiest.

All it required was attaching Ki to the body while combining it with one's fighting spirit.

Imagine wearing an invisible suit of armor—

—and Armament Haki naturally formed.

However, Yuuki realized he had arrived there in an unusual way.

Most people in this world learned Haki step by step:

0 → 1 → 2 → 3…

Yuuki, however, had started from the opposite direction.

10 → 9 → 8…

They reached the same destination.

But the process was completely different.

Observation Haki was slightly more complex.

It was essentially a combination of:

Ki + hearing.

When Rayleigh trained Luffy, he blindfolded him and attacked.

That was the foundation.

But Yuuki suspected the higher stages were more like:

Ki + hearing + sixth sense.

However—

Yuuki already possessed Mana Detection and Ki Detection.

So basic Observation Haki held little appeal.

What truly interested him were its extreme evolutions:

Hearing the Voice of All ThingsFuture SightThe ability to hear others' hearts and transmit one's own will, like Queen Otohime

Those abilities likely required something more.

Perhaps spiritual awareness.

Or innate talent.

Every world produced its own geniuses.

Just as Otohime had been born with that ability.

That left only one mystery.

Conqueror's Haki.

Of the three types of Haki, it was the only one Yuuki still couldn't fully understand.

Based on what he had observed—

It was not merely overwhelming presence or willpower.

It seemed to involve spiritual pressure.

Perhaps even soul-level suppression.

After all—

The ability to knock out large groups of people instantly could not be explained by mere intimidation alone.
