"So, it's today?" Sophie whispered in the middle of the class.
"Yeah," Eugene replied while clapping as someone answered the teacher's question--one of Hannah's friends, Emely. "I don't want it to drag on even longer."
"That's good," Sophie nodded. "Anything I can do to help?"
"Just babysit Hannah for me," Eugene sighed. "I don't know if we can come back tonight."
Sophie raised her brows in surprise. "Are you going to sleep in a hotel?"
"Even at the earliest, we would only be able to arrive at seven," Eugene bit his lips. Counting the clock today was just torture for him. "Even if we finish everything in five minutes and return right away, it would be almost midnight."
"Oh, that's true..."
Eugene looked at his daughter, who was staring intently at the teacher, hands ready to shoot up. "Of course, I want to go as far away from that house as soon as possible. Still, if my dad needs some rest, I'm going to prioritize it."
