As the offering came out of Eugene's mouth, both Arthur and Ian widened their eyes. Eugene looked at the alpha apologetically, but he kept holding onto his dad's hand.
For a long time, there was something Eugene always thought to be normal that actually wasn't. Getting hit when he did something wrong was something he had used to. Getting locked in a room or being forbidden to eat dinner after unsatisfactory results were things he thought everyone experienced. By the time he realized his friends were treated nicer in their home, the fear of fighting back or speaking up had already been ingrained too much in his mind that he continued to accept it as something normal.
