Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Wan Jian Wall

Jun Wen spoke carelessly, "What should I worry about? You can only stand far away and look. With your ruined dantian, there's no way any spirit sword would choose you…"

Once the words left his mouth, he realized he said something wrong again.

Flustered, his flying sword trembled and almost dropped.

Feng Xi let out a light laugh, "Fifth Senior Brother, I'm not as fragile as you think. The reason I argued with you before was only because I was sad about your attitude.

Later, I thought it over carefully, you just spoke without thinking, and wasn't actually disgusted by me.

We're fellow junior siblings, so there's no need for so many concerns. If you have something to say, just say it, I won't overthink."

Jun Wen scratched his head, feeling more and more like he really wasn't a good person.

That day, he got so angry at Feng Xi because he was worried that Master would risk his life hunting ice-attribute spirit beasts at the Extreme Cold Ice Plains. It wasn't that he disliked Feng Xi herself, otherwise he wouldn't have given her that spirit fruit.

In the end, he had a soft heart and a sharp mouth.

As they talked, the two arrived at the Wan Jian Wall.

Feng Xi looked at the towering stone wall that seemed to pierce into the clouds. Inside, countless spirit swords could faintly be seen, quietly embedded there.

Once again, she felt the same ancient, primordial aura she sensed from the plaque above the Xuantian Sect mountain gate, and was deeply shocked.

In front of the stone wall was a large, flat open space, with smeared traces of dried blood on the ground.

"L-Little Junior Sister, see those bloodstains?

They're all left behind by those who attempted to draw swords throughout history. Even though someone cleans this place regularly, the blood has already seeped into the stone, so it could only be left like this."

Jun Wen thought calling her 'Little Junior Sister' would be hard to say, but surprisingly, the words came out very smoothly.

Feng Xi didn't care about the title. She narrowed her eyes, staring at the Wan Jian Wall.

Jun Wen continued, "Last time, when Master punished me to go to Wan Jian Cave, it's right behind this wall. Inside are weakened forms of sword intent. Although it won't kill someone, every time you go in, you have to shed a layer of skin.

Master is biased, eight out of ten punishments are always for me. Obviously, I'm the most sensible one…"

Feng Xi responded absentmindedly, her gaze never leaving the Wan Jian Wall.

She wanted a spirit sword.

In the past, the original owner only had an ordinary sword, which was snapped in half by Shen Zhilan during the Hunyuan Sect inner disciple trials.

As for a spirit sword, she never had the qualifications to obtain one.

Now, the opportunity was in front of her.

However, although she could now mobilize a little spiritual power, only a fool would believe in her avoiding the sword intents.

So, she turned to Jun Wen, "Fifth Senior Brother, is there a situation where you block the sword intent, and the sword you retrieve goes to me?"

Jun Wen: "..."

You might as well eat shit!

"Little Junior Sister, sword intent is the test the spirit swords use on the one who draws them. No one can do it in their place."

He didn't say the rest. Even if that was possible, what would you, a small cripple do with a spirit sword? Put it on display?!

Feng Xi spoke again, "Do I have to go through the sword intent test? Is there any possibility that some sword inside is so desperate to come out that it doesn't need a test at all?"

Jun Wen: ... unless that sword has no dignity!

Feng Xi decided to give it a try.

She stood hundreds of feet away from the wall, raised her head and yelled, "Hey! All swords inside, listen up! I am Feng Xi, the future light of the Xuantian Sect! Do any of you want to follow me?

Hurry and come out! Miss this chance and there won't be another!"

Jun Wen: "..."

No wonder Master gave her ten Ziqiao Linglong Fruits. Her brain must really be damaged!

If shouting could get swords to come out, why did everyone risk life and limb fighting sword intent? Were they all bored?!

As for that 'future light of the Xuantian Sect', he treated that as nonsense.

While he was mocking her, Feng Xi continued shouting, "Come out!

Staying inside is boring!

Follow me and taste the warmth and coldness of the human world!

Follow me and witness the splendor of the world!

Follow me and roam mountains and seas, don't let your sword-life be wasted..."

No movement.

Half an hour passed.

Feng Xi was still talking nonstop.

Jun Wen couldn't stand it anymore, "Little Junior Sister, stop wasting your energy. I'll take you somewhere else to walk around."

Feng Xi sighed, "Fine. Blame these swords for having no vision. Another day, I'll go to another sect and take one from there!"

Jun Wen: …talking nonsense again!

"Little Junior Sister, let's go to East Peak."

"Okay."

After they'd left for half an hour, a wooden sword struggled out of the ground, looked around blankly, and turned a few circles.

Where's the person who promised me to see the warmth and coldness of the human world?

Where's the person who promised me to witness the splendor of the world?

Where's the person who promised me to roam the mountains and seas?

Where?

Liar!

Big liar!

In the end, the wooden sword grumbled and burrowed back underground.

Meanwhile, Feng Xi, who was treated as a scammer, was strolling leisurely with Jun Wen at East Peak.

She noticed that vegetation was much sparser here, mostly barren mountains and only a few scattered patches of plants.

Jun Wen explained, "East Peak used to be our Xuantian Sect's money tree, because there used to be a spirit stone mine underneath.

Too bad it was exhausted three thousand years ago and our Xuantian Sect instantly became paupers.

Since the mine is dead ground, the soil isn't good for plants. That's why East Peak looks like this."

Feng Xi thought that Xuantian Sect perfectly embodies the meaning of…eating the mountain empty.

She playfully said, "Fifth Senior Brother, I've never seen a spirit stone mine before. Take me to see it!"

Jun Wen curled his lip, "What's there to see in a dead mine?! But since you want to look, I'll take you."

They circled around the back of East Peak and found a cave entrance about as tall as a person.

"Here, this is the entrance to the abandoned spirit stone mine.

I heard it used to look grand, but without maintenance it just collapsed into this."

Jun Wen lit a fire striker and went in first.

Feng Xi followed behind him and also went in.

"Little Junior Sister, it's dark inside and there's nothing good to see, we can just stay near the cave entrance."

Feng Xi nodded, there's indeed nothing good to see, both sides are stone walls with a narrow path underfoot.

Because no one had stepped foot here for a long time, a lot of green moss had grown and the temperature inside was obviously lower than outside.

After a short walk, Feng Xi thought there's nothing interesting, and said, "Fifth Senior Brother, let's go back out."

"Alright—"

Jun Wen didn't manage to finish the word when the ground shook.

Jun Wen's expression changed instantly and he grabbed Feng Xi to run outside.

Before they could take two steps, a roar sounded in front and the cave entrance collapsed.

Not only that, boulders also started to rain from above.

Jun Wen nearly went insane from being panicked!

He summoned Heaven-Shaker to smash a large rock blocking them, but that triggered a chain of collapse overhead.

If Feng Xi hadn't reacted quickly and yanked him backward, the two of them would've been flattened instantly.

The tunnel continued collapsing, Jun Wen and Feng Xi could only retreat deeper and deeper.

They kept retreating until they reached a wide open space. In the middle was a circular stone platform, about 20 feet in diameter.

Looking at the surrounding walls that seemed more stable, Jun Wen sighed a breath of relief and took out his identity token to ask for help.

As a result, he found out the message couldn't be sent at all.

He tried again with a transmission talisman and the message still couldn't be sent out.

His heart sank, though he forced himself to sound calm and comforted Feng Xi, "Little Junior Sister, don't be afraid. When Master notices something's wrong, he'll definitely come save us."

Right after he finished, a piece of stone above fell, followed by more stones that began crashing down like a rainstorm.

Jun Wen was about to cry!

Fuck being calm!

"Little Junior Sister, we're probably going to be buried alive here!"
