Chapter 13 - **Survival Without Awareness Is Still Sleep**

back at the aron he is trying hard to control the ship 

Solar winds pushed against the ship. A warning light flickered once—then stopped. Aeron's jaw tightened, hands steady on the controls.

"Not today," he murmured.

He coaxed the engines, adjusted thrust, compensated manually instead of trusting the auto-stabilizers. Sweat slid down his spine.

The ship shuddered.

Then steadied. aeron decided to go home now because his ship is damaged and he had filled his cargo ship more than half .

aeron fly the ship at full throttle and entered the town

By the time he landed, his shoulders ached like he'd been punched from the inside.

Payment was transferred. Not much. Enough.

Aeron leaned back in the cockpit for a moment, eyes closed.

he thought about the boy who'd carried water with numb fingers. The kid who counted bread slices. and hide his blanket under the bed. is now fighting with death . for what

He opened his eyes. and 

"…Later," he said softly.

to live another day

and move out from the cockpit and head towards his apartment .

The apartment smells like vegetable soup. Aeron stepped inside.

Lina looked up from the table. "You're late." 

he said some emergency had occurred .

She slid a bowl toward him. and said lets "Eat."

He pick the bowl and started to eat .

For a while, they sat in comfortable silence. Outside, lights flickered on one by one. The city settled into its night rhythm.

Aeron leaned back, exhausted.

"Lina," he said suddenly.

"Yes?"

"…If we had more money. what Would you like to do ?"

She tilted her head. "Like what?"

He hesitated. Images of a big dream flickered in his mind—

and he said ships

ships bigger than his own cargo ship that he drives, ships that moves like cities. 

i want to be a caption of a ship that is bigger than the ship that aristocratic family's have as there heirloom . 

Aeron looked at lina.

in the quit apartment.

lina who is only 14 said brother can own a ship that big . and if we have that big ship

than she become lonely in that big ship there are many rooms in that big ship than who will live there aeron replied he also don't know.

and after there big silly conversation they both go to sleep .

And somewhere, deep under his shirt, the locket rested—silent, patient, waiting for the day to arrive.
