Chapter 2 - Not Today Truck-kun!

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm, golden glow across the bustling city streets, Zen and Kyle strolled side by side, their backpacks slung over their shoulders.

The faint aroma of street food lingered in the air as the weekend excitement buzzed around them.

Kyle's face lit up with anticipation, and he turned to Zen with a grin. "Hey, man, did you hear about the new game that got released today? It's supposed to be epic. I can't wait to get home and dive right into it!"

Zen nodded. "It's got this insane open-world concept and mind-blowing graphics."

Though Zen's face was lethargic, Kyle could hear the enthusiasm in his voice when he spoke.

Kyle grinned. "Looks like we're in for a gaming marathon tonight."

The two friends exchanged chatter, their shared passion for gaming sparking a lively conversation.

As they chatted, Kyle's face grew serious, and he looked at Zen with a hint of melancholy.

"You know," Kyle said, his voice tinged with a touch of sadness, "our parents are abroad again. It feels like they're never home these days. I miss those family dinners we used to have."

Zen briefly looked at Kyle, understanding his sentiment all too well. "Yeah."

"It's been a while since we had one of those. But at least we have each other, right? We're practically family at this point."

Zen managed a small smile, appreciating Kyle's comforting words. "Yeah." They were like brothers, even if they didn't share the same blood.

In addition to their friendship, Zen and Kyle were also neighbors, residing in adjacent apartments within the same building complex.

As Zen and Kyle walked side by side, engrossed in their conversation, the city around them buzzed with life.

The sun was setting, casting a warm orange glow over the bustling streets. Laughter and chatter filled the air, and the distant hum of traffic provided a melodic backdrop to their conversation.

In the midst of their animated discussion, a sudden, deafening screech shattered the afternoon tranquility.

Both Zen and Kyle turned, their eyes widening in shock, as a massive truck came hurtling down the road, its speed beyond reckless.

Gasps escaped bystanders as the truck barrelled forward, seemingly unstoppable, heading directly for the two.

Time seemed to slow as the truck roared closer, the sound of its engine drowning out all other noises.

Fear gripped Zen and Kyle, their eyes locked onto the oncoming danger. It felt like an eternity passed in mere seconds.

But just as disaster seemed inevitable, fate intervened.

The truck's path was abruptly halted by a sturdy pole, a metal guardian standing tall on the sidewalk.

With an earsplitting crash, the truck collided with the pole, its momentum violently halted. Metal groaned and screeched in protest as the vehicle shuddered to a stop, mere inches away from Zen and Kyle.

The air was thick with dust and the acrid scent of burnt rubber.

Shaken, Zen and Kyle stumbled back, their hearts pounding in their chests. They exchanged wide-eyed glances, their expressions a mix of relief and disbelief.

Around them, the once lively street had fallen into stunned silence, the shock of the near-miss rippling through the crowd.

Sirens wailed in the distance, growing louder as emergency services approached.

Zen and Kyle, still processing the gravity of what had just occurred, stood frozen in place, their conversation forgotten amidst the chaos.

Kyle was the first to recover, springing to his feet to check if his limbs were still intact and functional. Upon confirming his well-being, he extended a hand to help Zen up.

"Whoa! Zen, do you realize what almost happened there?!" Kyle exclaimed, his eyes wide with realization.

"We almost died?" Zen said with his stony face but shaking voice.

"We almost got Isekai'd!" Kyle proclaimed in amazement.

He marched over to the truck and patted it with a sigh. "That was close, truck-kun. But my friend and I here are 'Unsekaiable.'"

Zen's brow rose. "Is that even a word?"

Kyle's nostrils flared dramatically, and he declared to the heavens, "Repeat it after me, Zen. WE. ARE. UNSEKAIABLE!"

BoOoOmM!

GaAaArgh!

"W-what happened?"

"A meteorite fell from the sky and hit those two boys!"

"Wait . . . only those two? How did that happen?"

"Someone call an ambulance!"

"The ambulance is right there!"

"Oh no. They're dead!"
