SILVER'S POV
I told myself it was stress.
That was the rational explanation and I was a rational person. I had been under enormous sustained pressure for weeks — the failed marriage alliance, the vampire situation backfiring, Caleb marking Hazel in front of the entire pack, the royal envoy, the dinner, and then the conversation in the corridor that had ended twelve years of a particular future in about four sentences. Any of those things alone would have been enough to make a person see things in broken glass. All of them together was more than enough reason for a single strange hallucination that I would not be thinking about further.
Helena did not vanish.
