After 10 minutes, the slave just leaned his back against the chair and burped loudly. Yeah, it was the first time he could savor a delicious meal like that in his whole life.
"Now, after eating such a meal, I could even die," Alaric smiled in satisfaction.
The faceless man only smiled while crossing his legs.
"Your thoughts are so mere."
The slave wanted to shrug, but he forced himself to stop. He didn't want to act impolite before the nameless god. What if the god felt offended? Even though he had joked about being fine with dying after a meal.
"I told you, just feel free. I won't harm you. Is there any reason I must punish you after you completed the challenge…? You're the only one, and maybe the last one."
The faceless man said in amusement as he read the slave's thoughts.
Alaric calmed himself down and stammered,
"S-So, you are… nameless god?"
The faceless man only shrugged. Then he clapped a few times, and the entire space of the restaurant froze, except for the slave and the nameless god.
"Anyway, congratulations. You passed my challenge. You'll get my rewards."
But the slave only frowned in confusion. Hadn't he already gotten his reward? Well, he quickly understood when the nameless god added,
"That was the reward of the challenge, not my reward."
The nameless god continued,
"You'll get three questions to ask me. I'll answer anything within my limit… Uh, actually, that's wrong. I don't have something like a limit."
His voice carried no hint of arrogance — it was simply honest. And Alaric understood that, too.
"So, which means… you know my future, my end line?"
The nameless god nodded.
"Sure, I know it, even your true identity. But who cares there're many reincarnators like you in this world.''
Silence.
Alaric gulped as he looked at the nameless god, tense. Now, he had even more questions he wanted to ask — like whether his reincarnations were God's doing. But he needed to decide what to prioritize first.
And, The informations about furture was not a bad option.
''I have advice for you…one thing… as soon as you know your end line, it still could change. Either way, the future is a complicated web that can easily bend and shift."
"Now it'll start. Just ask — and think your question through."
Alaric frowned and sank into deep thought. If asking about the future was stupid, then he should ask something that could help him adapt to that unpredictable future.
And the first question came to him:
"Should I believe my summon?"
The slave's question was strange, considering anyone could have answered it for him. If the professor were here, he would probably say: Huh? That's a stupid question. Believe in your summon — he's your support, your partner, someone who grows with you. If you have a wife and a summon, I'd advise you to trust your summon more than your wife.
On top of that, summons had no reason to betray their masters, since they would die if they did. After all, they shared an inseparable symbiotic bond.
However, in the slave's case, he held deep doubts about his summon. Basically, he didn't trust that demon — especially after it cursed him.
"Good question," the nameless god smiled.
"My answer: half."
"Your summon is very special. I created it from a demon king's soul, so of course it carries the essence of a demon king. And demons are always a little… disobedient. As time goes on, your summon will grow stronger, and its actions will become more and more uncontrollable — until the moment it kills you to free itself."
"Summoned creatures with transcendent potential are always special in their own way. Don't lump them together with normal summons."
…
The slave's face nearly twisted after hearing the god's words. After all he did, he just got a Time bomb which might stab him from behind anytime?
It was unfair.
Chuckling, The nameless god answered.
"Your summon's true name. It's the demon's weakness. If you possess its full name, you'll completely control it beneath your power."
Alaric now just could relax after hearing that, damn, at least he had a bit of hope—but where could he find its true name?
The nameless god shrugged and said,
"His title is Arrogant Demon King. And, the Demon Cult has his information. Just find them, you'll get his names"
…
Applause.
"Now! Second question."
The slave's expression seemed sad. Surely, he wished the god would give him extra information, instead of just a few scraps.
Without hesitation, he asked,
"I want to know a shortcut to become strong as quick as possible without side effects"
Obviously, at his teenage age, he hadn't yet mastered any proper combat style. As soon as he got a strong summon, he still couldn't truly change who he was: a weakling.
At this rate, he would never catch up to geniuses. He would be a fatal weakness in any battle, a burden for his summon—it was hard to admit. And he refused to accept it.
The nameless god applauded again.
"Good question!"
"Your answer is actually very close… but also far."
"Learn your sword style from your summon. It's the best way for you. I can be certain no sword style in the world could match his swordsmanship. But here's my advice: learn as much as you can before he grows disobedient… or simply find another way to uncover his true name."
The slave frowned. Practicing with his summon—he had no idea how that would even work. He only hoped the demon wouldn't kill him during training.
"Now, the final question. Choose it properly. I can see you have many questions, but pick the important ones for your current state. Sometimes, knowing too much is also a side effect."
However, the nameless god just frowned after reading the slave's question. Then he chuckled.
Alaric scratched his head awkwardly.
"To be honest, I have a lot of questions, but right now, I don't even know which one I should ask the most… So, I want advice instead of a question."
The Nameless God shrugged and spoke.
"Good… I'll pick the question from your thoughts that I think you should ask. That way, you won't be going against my rules."
The Nameless God cleared his throat.
"Listen closely."
"You should watch out for the reincarnators. They're your enemy."
