Korran's representative cleared his throat.
"There's another option. We negotiate. Darius offered terms, maybe we should counter offer something he'll actually accept."
"He wants Nyx dead. That's his only demand." Raziel replied. "We can't negotiate away someone's life."
"Even if keeping her alive kills everyone else?" He asked. "We've lost nearly half our forces. If we continue fighting, most of the rest will die. At what point does protecting one person become more important than protecting hundreds?"
Everyone fell silent. It was the question nobody wanted to ask but everyone was thinking.
Raziel looked at each commander.
"If we surrender Nyx, we'll prove Darius right. We'll prove that hybrid lives don't matter."
"So we all should die because of principles?" He asked.
"We should die defending that some things are worth dying for." Raziel replied. "I won't sacrifice Nyx. Think of another strategy."
"There isn't another strategy…"
