Two days after the warnings were sent, chaos hit the Pride Lands.
At dawn, Nyx watched as hybrids arrived from the palace walls. They looked exhausted, scared but determined.
"Seventy three hybrids have arrived so far." Kira reported, standing beside her. "Twenty eight more are expected by night. Another forty one have reached the bear territory. The rest either went into hiding or…" She trailed off.
"Or chose to stay and fight in their own territories." Nyx finished.
"Idiots." Kira muttered. "They can't shift, can't fight, yet they're staying in dangerous areas."
"They're protecting their homes. They aren't wrong."
"They are because it can get them killed."
Below, Raziel walked through the refugee camp in the palace courtyard, helping the hybrids, directing them towards shelter and food. He'd opened the palace storage rooms, emptied the guest quarters, and taken control of every available building in the capital to house them.
