Chapter 63 - Chapter 63: Catching a Turtle in a Jar

Jinhu sat perched atop the canopy of the bed, watching the battle between the two.

Bode Gray's attacks were powerful and heavy, while Audrey's focused on agility and lightness.

Although Audrey's magic power was slightly weaker than Bode Gray's, Bode didn't dare take a hit with his body either.

Jinhu saw clearly that if Audrey switched to her Dragon constitution, Bode Gray would lose for sure.

Audrey was no longer the Hydrus of five years ago who had been toyed with in the palm of Bode's hand, even though she had only been properly studying magic for four months!

And the ancient magic she was using now—Jinhu couldn't even understand it just by looking!

He sighed. He said he would protect this girl, but in reality, all he did was let out a howl.

The current Audrey no longer needed his protection...

With today's lesson learned, Audrey would presumably be much more cautious when sleeping in the future, right?

If anyone wanted to try the same trick again, that would be like lighting a lantern in the latrine—looking for death.

As for now...

Before this group of people came in, he had already notified Great-uncle. He was afraid Great-uncle was probably already outside Hogwarts by now, right?

...

...

Isaline was a light sleeper. She faintly heard the sound of someone running in the corridor outside, so she sat up.

'So late, who could it be?'

Walking softly to the door, Isaline pushed it open a crack. In the dark corridor, several figures were walking quickly towards the common room.

"This Astley is really troublesome!"

"Heard she's a first-year this year!"

"Since when are first-years this formidable?"

"Heh, a fifth-year first-year. Heard from the My Lord that there have only been three people like this in history!"

"Damn it all, our people couldn't even take one move from her!"

"Cut the crap, guard the main door well. My Lord is invincible; he can definitely capture that little wench!"

Isaline shrank back.

Someone wanted to deal with Audrey!

Isaline hurriedly found her school uniform, pulled a small round disk from her pocket, and pressed the button on it hard. A moment later, a voice came from the disk:

"Miss Windsor, it is now the latter half of the night. I hope you have a suitable reason for disturbing your professor's rest!"

"Professor Snape! A group of strangers has infiltrated our dormitory; they want to deal with Audrey!"

The other end was quiet for a while, then she heard Snape say, "Lock your door tight, do not go out. I will handle it."

Isaline sat on the edge of the bed, her heart pounding. Reason told her that listening to Professor Snape at this time was the most correct choice, but she was terribly worried about Audrey.

She twisted her nightgown with both hands, staring nervously at the position of the room door in the darkness, as if a man-eating monster lay behind it.

But her good friend was still there facing danger directly!

Isaline stood up and strode towards the trunk in the corner of the room.

As a member of the royal family, she also had privileges at Hogwarts, one being that she also lived in a single room. So she could rummage through chests and cupboards without scruples, unafraid of disturbing others.

After a burst of clanging and banging, Isaline pushed open the room door.

At this moment, she was wearing a suit of bright silver armor. The edges of the armor had crystal-red stripes; one look and you could tell it was no ordinary item.

This was wizard armor forged by goblins!

cautiously walking towards Audrey's room, Isaline's little heart almost jumped into her throat.

...

...

Audrey's ancient magic wasn't proficient, but it was enough to deal with Bode. After all, the ancient magic Bode knew was only those two types.

Chh!

Shwah!

Lightning, firelight.

Ice, gale.

Audrey grew braver as she fought, transforming into lightning and flitting about everywhere. Her reflexes, enhanced by magic power, showed their value here.

Bode Gray could no longer hit Audrey; he even had to put all his energy into blocking Audrey's attacks coming from all directions.

He cried bitterness in his heart. He had thought he could handle this little girl easily, but he never expected that after not seeing her for a few days, Audrey had actually grown to this extent!

Audrey actually wasn't having an easy time either.

She lacked experience, after all. Transforming into lightning certainly gave extremely strong mobility, but this magic consumed a great deal of power. It was meant for emergency evasion, but with her using it for frequent positioning like this, no amount of magic power could withstand her squandering it!

Silently switching from Unicorn constitution to House-elf constitution, although the power of her magic decreased, because she could use the free magic power in the air, she could finally let her two high-load magic circuits rest a little.

However, Bode Gray was old and crafty. Sensing Audrey's attack power drop, he knew this girl's magic power wasn't abundant either.

Shooting two consecutive bolts of lightning, while Audrey was neutralizing them, Bode Gray burst through the door. He was preparing to run!

But the moment he rushed out the door, he saw a shorty armored from head to toe.

Although only 1.6 meters tall, that suit of armor wasn't light!

It allowed the wizard wearing it to move easily, but that didn't change its nature of weighing over a hundred kilograms.

This characteristic was very magical!

If Bode Gray had all four limbs intact, he might have been able to dodge, or even if he crashed into it, he could adjust his center of gravity to avoid falling.

But the current him only had one leg!

He usually relied entirely on magic for movement. Crashing into this suddenly, he couldn't react at all!

Clang!

Isaline staggered from the collision, which was enough to show how much force Bode used to escape!

However, compared to Isaline, the unprotected Bode was even more miserable. Falling to the ground, his whole body hurt as if it were falling apart.

Opening his mouth, he spat out several teeth!

'Kick him while he's down.' The tip of Audrey's wand flashed with lightning.

Five years ago, Bode knocked her down from high in the sky with lightning.

Five years later, she wanted an eye for an eye!

She wanted to see if Bode Gray's flesh and blood were as durable as hers five years ago!

Suddenly—

"Stupefy!"

A red light flew over and hit Bode. His eyes rolled back, and he fainted.

But at this moment, Audrey's lightning hadn't been fired yet!

Audrey withdrew her wand. That was Snape's voice. This fellow was already suspicious of her; if she let him see her kill someone again, she really wouldn't be able to explain it clearly.

As a large bat strode over, the oil lamps in the corridor began to ignite one by one. He was like a king on an outing, followed by subjects holding torches.

"Everyone get back to bed!"

Snape shouted loudly, scolding back all those little witches who had been woken up and were poking their heads out curiously.

Snape walked up to Bode, lowered his head slightly to take a look. "Hmph, Bode Gray."

He looked at the fully armed Isaline again. "Miss Windsor, I remember telling you to hide in your room." He was clearly very annoyed at Isaline's recklessness. "This is Bode Gray, a notorious wanted criminal, a dark wizard."

He glanced contemptuously at the armor on Isaline. "Do you think this suit of armor forged by goblins can protect you?"

Isaline lifted the visor of her helmet and replied timidly, "I'm sorry, Professor, but I was very worried about Audrey, I..."

Snape stopped her next words with a gesture. He walked into Audrey's room and, with just one glance, revealed a look of shock.

The entire room had been destroyed beyond recognition. Everywhere were traces of being struck by lightning, torn by wind, frozen by ice, and burned by fire.

"Miss Astley," Snape said. "Is this how you cherish school property?"

"Or perhaps," he pointed to the Galleons scattered all over the floor, "you feel you are very rich, so you can destroy things casually?"

His gaze was full of scrutiny. "Also, I do not believe these spells are what you learned at school. You..."

"Severus, enough." Dumbledore Apparated into the room. Following him was a tall old wizard. "It is very late, and Miss Astley needs to rest too."

As he spoke, the Elder Wand waved, and Audrey's room quickly returned to its original state.

"But Headmaster, the origin of her magic is unclear..."

"I taught all of that," the tall old wizard said. "In the two months before school started."

Dumbledore introduced, "This is Gael Depp, an old friend of mine. I entrusted him to teach Audrey magic during the summer vacation."

Snape scoffed coldly, turned around, and left.

Isaline handed the communication disk towards Snape. She thought Professor Snape had come to dislike Audrey, and perhaps this disk would never be needed again.

But who knew Snape would say softly, "Keep it safe... also, well done."

Isaline smiled secretly. Professor Snape really had a sharp tongue but a soft heart!

Snape walked outwards, announcing as he went, "Audrey Astley bravely repelled a wanted criminal and protected her classmates. Fifty points to Slytherin!"

Dumbledore smiled. "Miss Astley's actions were very inspiring. I think fifty points is not enough; I want to add another twenty points to Slytherin."

The corner of Snape's mouth twitched. It was hard to tell if it was a smile or disdain.

He still had to go out and deal with the Water Snake's Fang lying all over the floor!

His steps were brisk, completely unlike when he arrived, stomping on the metal floor with loud clangs.

...

With a wave of Dumbledore's wand, the unconscious Bode Gray was firmly bound. He turned to Isaline and said, "Miss Windsor, please return to your room. I still have some words to say to Miss Astley alone."

"Okay, Professor Dumbledore."

Isaline looked at her "bestie." Audrey winked at her playfully, and Miss Windsor immediately left with a blushing face.

"Audrey, are you alright?"

Dumbledore asked with concern.

"What could happen to me? If Professor Snape hadn't arrived in time, I would have already finished off Bode Gray."

Dumbledore frowned. "We agreed, do not easily take another's..."

"Enough, Albus!"

Grindelwald said loudly.

Of course, before speaking, he had already set up a Muffliato charm.

"You can't blame Audrey for this. Others have bullied her right to her face; are you saying Audrey isn't allowed to fight back?"

Dumbledore shook his head helplessly. "It is not that she is not allowed to fight back, but since she gained the upper hand, there was no need to take a life."

"Hypocrisy of the strong!"

Grindelwald knew he couldn't convince him on this matter, so he said huffily, "And you say your Hogwarts is the safest place. If Audrey hadn't stood up for herself, you would be regretting it today!"

Grindelwald was diverting Dumbledore's attention. As soon as he arrived, he discovered strange powder on the floor.

Dumbledore wasn't familiar with what it was, but wasn't he?

In Paris, he had burned plenty of people to death!

If Hydrus got a lecture just for having the thought of killing, then if Al found out she had actually killed people, wouldn't the sky fall?

Dumbledore was indeed led astray by him and explained, "There are many inconceivable things about today. Outsiders actually infiltrated the student dormitories; there must be a problem. I think I should investigate thoroughly."

He turned to Audrey. "Child, rest early. It is late."

Before they left, Dumbledore pointed to the Galleons on the floor and joked, "Now I believe you can easily earn several million pounds a year."

Then he added, "Bode Gray's capture means Hydrus Lestrange's reputation can be restored. Are you ready?"
