Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: The Dragon's Strength! The Dragon's Speed! The Dragon's Fire! Anyway, It's a Dragon!

Malfoy's dragon reserve was in Romania.

It was quite a distance from the British Isles.

Fortunately, Hydrus, planning ahead, had "unlocked the map" long ago.

Before she was five, in the days before Voldemort's fall, she pestered her parents to travel everywhere, all so that one day she could use Apparition to go wherever she pleased.

At the time, her parents were busy with the Dark Lord's affairs and had no free time. The one who accompanied her on her travels was the now-dead Norson Gray.

First stop, Normandy, across the English Channel.

Second stop, the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

Third stop, the Vienna Golden Hall (this one was a bit far, Hydrus rested for a while).

Fourth stop, Romania, the Malfoy Dragon Reserve outside Târgu Jiu.

At this hour in Romania, it was the dead of night. The dragon reserve was just as quiet.

Obviously, this place also had Anti-Apparition jinxes, but they still couldn't stop the innate talent of a house-elf.

On the cliffside was a series of man-made caves, serving as the dragons' habitat.

The most common dragon at the Malfoy reserve was the Welsh Green. This four-legged dragon suited Hydrus's intentions best.

This was because their temperament was considered relatively good among dragons, making close contact with them the least dangerous option.

She Apparated to a small villa, still some distance from the dragon nests.

This was the Malfoy family's vacation spot.

She had stayed here for a few days in the past, but after Voldemort's fall, the Malfoys quickly drew a line between themselves and the Lestranges.

In six years, she hadn't once seen her Aunt Narcissa or her Uncle Lucius!

'Pure-blood families don't look at blood, only at interests. This is hardly news.'

Hydrus shook her head. 'What's the point of thinking about this useless stuff? The important thing is to hurry up and copy the dragon's magical constitution!'

Apparition!

The little girl appeared at the entrance of a dragon's nest. A foul smell assaulted her nostrils.

She frowned and groped her way deeper into the cave.

After pretending to be a Squib for eleven years, she didn't even know how to cast a Lumos charm.

'If I had known earlier that I could copy the house-elf constitution, I wouldn't have neglected to learn a single spell!'

'Now I want to learn, but the family library has been emptied by the Gray family!'

'So irritating!'

The deeper she went, the worse the visibility became, until she couldn't see her hand in front of her face.

'Damn it, am I going to grope my way right into a dragon's mouth?!'

Her footing was uneven, sometimes hard, sometimes soft.

Hydrus no longer cared what she was stepping on. She forced herself not to think about disgusting things and quickened her pace.

Heavy breathing came from ahead. The dragon must be just in front of her!

'Come on! Just touch the dragon and it's a victory!'

'Just touch it and retreat immediately!'

Just as she was thinking this, she was startled by a sudden jet of flame!

The flame was only four or five feet away from her! It was the dragon's breath!!

The next moment, a wax-yellow eye the size of a wagon wheel opened, emitting a faint glow, and quietly stared at her.

Thanks to the dim light, its massive silhouette was revealed before her.

'Oh, mama!'

Only after this close encounter with a legendary 5X magical creature did Hydrus understand the oppressive feeling of a top predator!

She was so scared she didn't dare to move; her whole body froze.

'Rush up, touch it, and run?'

'What a joke! That idea had long since been thrown to the winds!'

'So this was the kind of behemoth Harry Potter faced in the Triwizard Tournament! Truly amazing!'

'As expected of the Child of the Plane!'

"Hi, hello!" Hydrus greeted it, ready to run at any moment, "I just came here to make friends with you, is that okay?"

"Reee!!" The Welsh Green's strange but beautiful cry rang out, the huge sound wave making Hydrus's eardrums ache.

As the dragon before her roared at the sky, all the dragons in the mountain began to answer!

"Hrm, hrr!" The dragon in front of her let out a low rumble. Hydrus, who was about to Apparate away, actually saw kindness in its eyes!

'A chance! I'll wait!'

The next moment, the dragon's huge wing wrapped around, gently pushing the girl towards its head. The large, cold, smooth head then lightly nuzzled Hydrus.

'This... what does this mean?'

Miss Lestrange, having read the Dragon Compendium, knew very well that the Welsh Green's action was a gesture of affection a mother shows to her young!

'So, I've just been adopted by a dragon as my godmother?'

The next moment, she felt the information of the Welsh Green's magical constitution transmit to her, and Hydrus immediately chose to switch constitutions.

!!

'By Merlin's grand-uncle Salazar!'

'Strength!'

'Strength!'

'And more damn strength!'

The dragon's constitution was too powerful; Hydrus's human body could barely maintain it!

Her eyes turned into wax-yellow vertical pupils, and green scales visibly appeared on her exposed arms.

Her nails sharpened, and her throat began to build up heat!

"Roar!" Unable to hold back, Hydrus unleashed a breath of fire onto the cave ceiling.

"Hoo! Oh!" The mother dragon cooed reproachfully. Hydrus guiltily put her hands together:

"Sorry, sorry, I didn't mean to!"

Crack!

Crack!

A series of Apparition cracks sounded.

Five wizards appeared in front of Hydrus.

They raised their wands, and Hydrus immediately took a defensive stance.

"Lumos!" One person used the Wand-Lighting Charm, while the other four used unknown spells, forcing the Welsh Green behind her into a deep sleep.

Crack!

Someone else arrived.

With the enhancement of dragon-sight, Hydrus could see the newcomer clearly even without the Lumos charm.

Pale blond hair, cold gray eyes, a pale, pointed face.

It was Lucius Malfoy.

"Who are you," Lucius said, pointing his wand, which was disguised as a cane, at Hydrus. "What is your intention in sneaking into my family's dragon reserve?"

"Ah, I just wandered in by mistake," Hydrus replied with a smile, but her scale-covered face looked anything but friendly. "So sorry to have disturbed your sleep!"

"Answer me! Intruder!"

Hydrus clearly looked like a young girl, but her bizarre state was terrifying, making all the Malfoys tense.

"Shouldn't Mr. Lucius Malfoy be at Malfoy Manor in England? Why would he be here?"

After asking this, Hydrus clapped her hands and answered her own question: "Ah! Right, right! Your family comes here every year for a summer holiday! I see!"

The intruder wasn't answering his question and seemed to know his family's habits inside and out. This made Lucius even more nervous.

"Serpensortia!"

Hydrus watched with interest as Lucius used this famous spell, said to be from India. A large snake as thick as a bowl appeared in the cave. Its lower body coiled, its upper body reared up, letting out a threatening "hiss" at Hydrus.

[Die! Die!]

Hydrus immediately responded:

"Sssss-hss!"

[I am not your enemy. Leave at once!]

The snake froze, then lowered its body, turned its head, and quickly slithered out of the cave.

"Parseltongue!" Lucius was shocked. "You... Who are you..."

Hydrus slowly walked up to Lucius. At this time, her uncle's hairline wasn't yet so exaggerated. His face grew even paler as he heard her say softly, "You're really forgetful for such an important person, Uncle Lucius."

"Uncle?" Lucius's eyes widened, and he shouted in disbelief, "You are Hydrus!"

Hydrus beamed. "Uncle, thank you so much for your family's dragon. But I have to go now. We'll meet again if fate allows! Good night!"

Hydrus ran past the stunned Lucius, heading for the cave entrance.

Her speed was incredibly fast. Her feet pushed powerfully against the ground, and each thrust propelled her four or five meters forward.

At the entrance, she leaped hard, and her body took to the air.

Although she had no wings, it didn't stop her from flying—dragons fly using magic. Otherwise, how could those thin, bat-like wings lift a behemoth that weighed tens of tons?

The wings are just for balance and maneuvering!

Hydrus flew up and down, fast and slow, feeling the damp night wind of Romania. She let out an excited roar at the sky.

"Reee!!"

The beautiful cry of a Welsh Green erupted from Hydrus's throat, once again stirring up the dragons in the mountain.

The dragons: 'Are you going to let us sleep or what!'

And Lucius Malfoy, who had run to the cave entrance, watched Hydrus soaring in the night sky, his eyes narrowed, his thoughts unreadable.
