The ground trembled as the Titan's massive head shifted slightly, stone grinding against stone. Its eyes burned to life, not blazing lava…
But golden. Clear. Focused. I stumbled back, heart hammering so violently it hurt.
"Gods, Your Highness, um, did you see its eyes—?!"
He was already in front of me, sword half-drawn, stance protective. "Stay behind me."
But I couldn't look away. Because those eyes. They were wrong. Too aware. Too human.
And horribly. Familiar. I'd seen them before. Not once. Not twice. Too many times. A chill crawled down my spine as realization slammed into me, ridiculous and terrifying and impossible all at once.
Because I've watched too many fantasy Chinese dramas to ignore this kind of setup.
What if—No. That was insane. And yet—What if this Titan wasn't a Titan at all?
What if—"What if this Titan is Sir Alex?" I whispered, voice shaking.
