Chapter 37 Undercover Operation
"Uh...? You are..."
Upon seeing Dongfang Qing's stunningly beautiful face, the girl's hands immediately went trembling, unsure of what to do with them.
Her first impression of the person in front of her was that she was beautiful and incredibly strong!
That mere wisp of aura that emanated from her already far surpassed everyone she had ever seen.
"Little friend, what's your name?" Dongfang Qing wasn't surprised by her reaction; he simply smiled and asked.
Her gaze wandered hesitantly, and the girl turned her head away anxiously in Dongfang Qing's arms.
"We are demi-humans...our status is even lower than...even lower than beastman slaves...so we don't...we don't have names..."
Because of nervousness, each word was squeezed out of her throat urgently, causing the girl's answer to be hesitant and stammering.
"I see..."
Dongfang Qing carried the girl slowly into the woods, gently put her down, and then lightly tapped her forehead with his index finger: "From now on, you will be called 'Amy'!"
"boom--!"
"Thank you…I…" Amy was about to say something when a violent explosion coming from down the mountain abruptly stopped her thoughts.
The players who had come to watch the spectacle earlier are now, after a fierce battle with the natives, climbing the mountain to search for the remaining fragments of the frigate from that time.
The damp sea breeze, carrying a salty and fishy smell, rushed towards the cliff. Dongfang Qing looked up and saw dozens of figures walking up the mountain path.
A middle-aged man wearing a blue hat walked at the front of the group, holding a fireball the size of a basketball to light the way for the players behind him.
A masked girl in a cloak stood out from the rest of the players…
Her hair was neatly coiled inside the hood, with only a few fine strands peeking out.
This girl is none other than Lovelace.
Seeing that Shanks was hesitant to fight with all his might, she had no choice but to come to this island to help defend against the aftermath of the battle, so that he could fight with peace of mind.
By sheer coincidence, none of the players spoke Chinese when they met, which allowed Lovelet to sneak in.
"I just saw the rudder from below; it should be around here. It definitely won't fall into the sea!"
A female thief next to her suddenly spoke, startling her so much that she immediately lowered her face in fear, afraid of being discovered as to what was amiss.
"That blow from Jiu Nian was really powerful..." A boy next to the thief quickly echoed.
"According to the comments, Shanks used Chen's divine evasion to fight him head-on, while Cliff just pretended to be dead and watched the show. He's so cunning!"
Another purple-haired woman spoke up, and under everyone's gaze, he covered his mouth and made a mocking remark.
The mages beside her immediately started teasing each other: "I'm dying of laughter. If they're done fighting and suddenly realize I didn't fight them, will they just kick us out of the second closed beta test?"
"That's possible!" The middle-aged man in the lead nodded emphatically.
Old Chen is probably referring to Roger, Jiu Nian is referring to Kaido, and who is Cliff?
Is that Kizaru from the Caesar Empire? But why is he called that?
Lovelet squinted and pondered, trying to connect the information in her mind, but there was very little to refer to.
The novel term "live broadcast room" gave her another headache. Hearing so much news in such a short time made her genuinely a little scared.
"Thump—!"
"Holy crap... there's a clip!"
A heavy thud came from the back of the line, followed by several curses.
"Why are they burying traps on the mountain? They're huge! Are these natives crazy?"
Everyone looked in the direction of the sound and saw a thief player baring his teeth, raising his right leg, and prying open the huge iron clamp with his bare hands.
The purple-haired woman spoke up again, then looked him up and down as if he were an idiot: "You, a thief, can get caught in something like this? You've got a once-in-a-lifetime experience! The whole livestream is laughing at you!"
The thief tossed the trap aside, his face full of disdain: "Why not just burn this place down? That would save us the trouble of dealing with all this junk!"
"You still want to waste time fighting with these natives? Once they're done fighting, they'll see you touch that thing and send you flying with one blow!" The blue-haired middle-aged man at the front froze, and without any politeness, he elbowed him.
"We don't have that much time, hurry up and find them!"
After a brief discussion, the group made a decision that was most disadvantageous for Lovelet—to split up and act separately.
After traversing the forest, the group reached a relatively flat area once again.
In the darkness, the village illuminated by lamplight ahead came into view.
Of course... everyone's actions were also observed by Dongfang Qing and Amy on the mountaintop.
"They are…" Upon seeing this, Amy cowered in fear behind Dongfang Qing.
He reached out and ruffled Amy's hair, then calmly brought his mouth close to her ear:
"Don't worry about it. If you happen to meet a demi-human with long blue hair, just beg her to take you away."
"Why...why?" Amy blinked in confusion, looking completely bewildered.
The hand rubbing her head tightened a bit, and Dongfang Qing gently placed her fingertips on her lips: "There's no reason why. If you want demi-humans to live like ordinary people, you have to follow her."
His gaze shifted, and he pursed his lips, whispering, "Just say it was Victoria who said it; she won't refuse."
"Next, go that way!" Under the hazy moonlight, Dongfang Qing pointed his index finger towards the mountaintop ahead.
"Yes...yes..."
Upon hearing this, Amy nodded seriously and stopped asking questions. Before she could finish speaking, Dongfang Qing had already disappeared.
"Glug..."
She swallowed nervously, despite the unsettling atmosphere around her.
But Amy still puffed out her cheeks and gritted her teeth, walking in the direction Dongfang Qing had pointed out earlier.
After crossing a grove of trees, she emerged from the bushes and immediately spotted a wooden frame that resembled a ship's cabin.
Curiosity often takes hold when faced with the unknown, and an inexplicable impulse propelled Amy forward until she reached the side of the ruins.
"What's this?"
A bright orange light caught Amy's attention from a shattered treasure chest. She tiptoed forward and flipped over a few broken wooden planks.
"Buzz..."
Two pages, each two feet long and one foot wide, appeared before her, intertwining a novel magic circle with a language she had never seen before…
The page immediately exuded an ancient and extremely sacred aura.
Amy didn't know how to express her surprise, so she covered Zhang's wide mouth with her hand, staring at it with eyes as big as saucers.
"Did that older sister want me to bring this to a certain blue-haired older sister as well?" She pouted, puzzled by some inexplicable question, but she still picked up the two pages.
She clumsily stuffed the two pieces of paper into her pocket and turned to walk back
