Chapter 149 - Battle In Mirrors

THORNE​

There was nothing behind it.

​Just another mirror reflection—another illusion.

​I shifted back to human, breathing hard, glass crunching under my boots. Blood dripped from a dozen small cuts where the shards had sliced through fur and skin.

​"Leave," I ordered the Gamma beside me, my eyes scanning the endless reflections for any sign of movement.

​"Alpha, I can't—"

​"That's an order," I cut him off, my voice hard as iron. "Get out of here. Find the others. Get them out if you can."

​The Gamma hesitated, torn between obedience and loyalty, before finally nodding and backing toward the door we'd entered through.

​His footsteps faded, leaving me alone in the hall of mirrors with a ghost I'd tried to kill a decade ago.

​For a long moment, there was only silence before movement flickered in my peripheral vision.

​I spun, but it was just my own reflection, distorted and multiplied into infinity.
