"I won't put it lightly, or sugarcoat. That's because there isn't anything to it. Tou, the one you know and love, is directly responsible to my father's death. Along with his own parents. You thought he was just an orphan by chance? No."
"You're spewing nonsense."
"I'm not. And you're slowly starting to become aware of it too, right?"
"I don't know what you're trying to do, or if you're trying to make me turn on my friend, but that won't happen."
"What you do with this information is your own decision. I was simply trying to warn you. Tou is not a good person, and there are a lot of people that don't like him. He's been in the hospital for about two days now. They're gonna come after you. And Ailsa. Will she be able to hold up?"
Marcus's expression grew grim. He clutched his sword.
"But… why are you telling me this?"
"I assumed you didn't know much. I felt bad. That is all."
Before he knew it, Marco had disappeared into the shadows, leaving Marcus alone with his thoughts.
Of course… I knew it. I questioned it.
When we were attacked that day, and he defended us, I really started to think. I began to consider things that I had never thought before. Who was Tou? Is Tou the person I know? The boy that talks to me everyday… behind that front, who is he really?
Tou… he's not a good person. But I tried. I didn't want to let go. I didn't want to make Ailsa cry, and I wanted all of us to be happy. So I shoved it down.
If I had done something about it…!
Marcus let out a stifled sigh. His eyes shot open, as another thought entered his head.
A-Ailsa!
[Cast: Flashstep]
Marcus got out of there, leaving the forest in seconds. He dashed into the air, his movements appearing like dances in the midnight sky. Such worried footing, he appeared slipping here and there, off the rooftops. Within minutes, he landed outside of Ailsa's house. He knocked once.
"Ailsa?
"Ailsa, are you there?
"I'm coming in, now."
He opened the door. The lights were all on. The house was silent. Ailsa lived alone as well, just like Tou. Her parents worked abroad, sending her payments every so often to afford the house and school fees. So, when she was not with the two boys, she was by herself, in this quiet house.
The plates were washed. Chairs were set, along with the dinner table. Two plates.
Marcus walked up the stairs, each step feeling infinitely more heavy. A severe illness washed over his body, and he found himself swallowing all of it down. For some odd reason, he was losing the urge to walk up the steps.
He charged through!
Finally, he reached her room. Marcus gently opened the door. A loud creak stirred.
The room is pitch dark.
[Cast: Ignite]
At his fingertip, a helpful flame ignited, dimly illuminating the room. There, laying in the bed was Ailsa!
Her eyes were still open, limpid. She stared toward the ceiling endlessly. Her hands hung from the bed. Underneath her fingertips was a knife, still stained with blood. The blood trickled down from her neck.
Ailsa… she's… your dead. You killed yourself, because Tou died. And he was doing all these bad things. But it wasn't him, right? Tou wouldn't do all these cruel things. Tou isn't a monster. He's dead. And his corpse is doing all these bad things, and has been doing all these bad things since the very beginning!
Yes, that's it. That's exactly want happened. You couldn't handle having your world flipped, so you had to do it. It was justified.
I'm sorry that it had to be like this. You didn't deserve this, Ailsa.
Our… perfect family is torn apart.
The expression on Marcus's face was indescribable. The look of someone who was nearing death. The face of someone who had nothing left to lose.
Without thinking, with no hesitation, he unsheathed his sword, plunging it into his chest.
Marcus collapsed.
The room was silent. His blood pooled beneath him.
