Julian found himself awake, outside of the freezer. Beside him was the crate of banana milk.
"Huh..?"
All of his memories of what occurred inside that freezer hit him.
Along with the pain that he couldn't feel because of the cold.
"Gyah!"
Julian writhed in pain.
"Ah! Damn it! Goodness!" He cried out. He rolled over and threw up. Wiping his lips in a slow pant, Julian looked up to see someone watching him.
"I'm glad to see that you're alive," she smiled.
"It was you who pulled me out of that freezer? Thank you... ahh.."
"Eudora."
Eudora was a white-haired elf with emerald green eyes. Pretty, like any other elf was. However, all elves do look different. Julian found Umilythe a lot prettier than Eudora. They did not look similar.
"Thank you, Eudora... What day is it?"
"The 8th of September."
"I've... I was in there for a whole day. I'm surprised I'm even alive."
"Your unorthodox methods in killing that dragon stored in the freezer proved successful."
Eudora pointed at Julian's chest before speaking again.
"By swallowing the heart of a dragon, you have gained the Velian of one. But it's strange. I am sensing no mana from you. And a first-year like yourself wouldn't have the ability to mask it from someone like me."
Someone like you? Is this some kind of... super powerful warlock mage?
"Well... again, thank you, Eudora. I'll be on my way. I have to get this crate delivered to the headmaster."
Eudora nodded.
"See you later, Julian."
.
That was definitely a weird encounter.
Saying I have the dragon of a Velian...
According to what I learned, a Velian is an imaginary space within the body that contains all the mana that is stored. So how could I have stolen that from a dragon?
The wave of mana entering me created a Velian... that's the logical answer.
So... why don't I have mana? OR [Casts]?
Julian stood before the headmaster and another teacher who had been talking to him.
"Sir, I've retrieved the item."
"Perfect."
"And also, another question, why is there a dragon in the freezer?-"
From underneath the headmaster's desk, he pulled out a pair of daggers.
Slsh!
It was quick. He sliced through the teacher beside him, cutting him in half and kicking his top half to the wall. The top half of the teacher's body slid down to the floor.
Then, he came toward Julian, vaulting over the desk and slashing at his neck. Blood sloshed, spilling onto the carpet of the headmaster's office.
"!"
Julian felt at his neck.
W-what was that!?
My... It was my imagination.
Julian fixed his irregular breathing.
"Something wrong? Did you have a question?" the headmaster asked, with a straight face.
"N-no."
. . .
. .
.
Anore
"Have you heard about the new kid?"
"He's really attractive!"
"Tall too."
"Where is he from?"
"I don't know… his accent sounds pretty rural, though."
The students were given a short break.
Oscar sat quietly, in the farthest seat back near the window. He quietly observed the board that his teacher had written on, along with the notes he had jotted down. One would not see it in his face, but he was determined to learn.
I was given the chance to have an education, so I'll take it. Not many people are given the chance.
The teacher came back into the classroom and all the students scurried into their respective seats.
. .
Sar, Dinet.
Dinet's Boarding School
Julian sat in his room, with a heavy heart. He contemplated all the events that had just transpired.
That headmaster… what does he… what's his intention?
Surely, he knew that dragon was there. Did he send me to die? If he really wanted me to die, though, couldn't he easily do it?
Goodness…
Julian let out a heavy sigh that he had been holding in for quite some time. His sore body fell onto his comfortable sheets, aching everywhere.
His right hand rose up, landing on his chest. At his heart.
"The… heart of a dragon," he fairly labeled. The same hand lifted to his ceiling.
There was a little bit of shy hesitation in his voice, along with a mixture of embarrassment.
"F-Fireball!" he blurted.
To his surprise, nothing came out.
"I still can't use mana! Damn it!"
Julian reached for the desk beside his bed, grabbing the blank, dark blue hardcover book.
It was dusty.
Upon closer observation, Julian realized it was in fact not blank, but inscribed with the words "Logging and Experimentation by S.W"
Strange enough, this book just feels so unsuspecting. Why did I grab this again?
His memory sprang forward.
Ian handed it to me when we had that conversation about dragons! I ended up taking it as to not be rude…
Thank goodness for that, Ian. With this, I could relieve my anxiety by finding out that I can survive this.
Julian opened the book to a random page. A cloud of dust shot at him. He harshly coughed, waving away the particles with his hand.
"Here, an experiment was conducted on three individuals. A human male, a female elf, and a young demi-human female."
All three subjects have damaged Velians, affecting their ability to store mana.
The experiment goes as follows: S.W fed each of them a portion of the dragon's heart. At 40 minutes, a Velian similar to one of the dragons begins to form in the subjects.
20 minutes after the Velian is formed, the subject violently explodes.
Subject 3, the 5-year-old demi-human survives. She is… quickly executed… as to not cause any dangers to the real world.
"S.W… you're a monster."
It's been longer than 60 minutes, though. D-Does that mean my exploding is impending?
Julian sighed, firmly closing the book.
