Croft rose from the rubble, his scales cracked, his blood steaming in the frigid air. Yet still he stood. The ice around his wounds crystallized, sealing the gashes, mending the cracks. His pale reptilian eyes, dimmed but not extinguished, fixed on Adam with undying hatred.
"You're... persistent," Croft rasped, each word a struggle. Frost gathered around his claws, sharpening into talons of crystalline ice. "But persistence... will not save you."
Adam didn't answer. He lunged.

His fist, wreathed in dark energy, slammed into Croft's chest. The ice dragon's scales cracked. Blood sprayed. Croft staggered, his form flickering. But he didn't fall.
