Chapter 3 - Martial Arts Teacher & Tattoo

With a little help from Lilly 7 was able to use her mana to influence the mana around herself. This process took about a month. During that time Lilly tried to think of a name for 7. Rather than just calling her a number.

Lilly considered giving 7 a name from her church, but thought better of it. The thought of giving the child a name related to the concept of light felt wrong. Lilly couldn't place why she felt that way, but she did.

Lilly was momentarily awoken from her thoughts when she felt the mana around her change. It was as if the shadows themselves came to life for the briefest of moments.

'What the hell!?' Lilly thought that something happened to 7 as she was still cursed by the Wendigo. Lilly rushed to 7's room only to find Lucas standing there with a Lion-kin. The Lion-kin, or Leonin as they are otherwise known by, was tall and muscular. Though this one was different instead of black and orange fur with golden eyes. This one had white and black fur with piercing red eyes. This one was clearly male and wore a priests robes.

"Ah, good. I don't have to send for you. I have hired this Leonin to be 7s martial arts teacher. Though when I told it things went south." Lucas didn't seem to want to elaborate so Lilly looked to the Leonin.

"The child seems to think that you won't be training her. So out of anger she let some of her mana flow causing the flash of shadows, and marking the appearance of the Wendigo. She is now refusing to come out unless you come back to train her." The Leonin's voice was deep and sounded like a growl at times. At the man talked his pointed fangs could occasionally be seen.

"I'll talk to her." Was all Lilly said before she went into 7's room.

As Lilly walked into the room she noticed that there was no light. It was like she was walking into a void of darkness. Lilly thought that was odd considering 7 didn't have darkness mana.

"Ahh, you're here. I assume that the Leonin is to be Seven's physical trainer and you are to be her magical trainer. Am I correct?" The Wendigo seems to appear out of the darkness that was slowly dissipating.

"Yes, yes you are. Am I able to talk to her?" Lilly's voice held some contempt as she looked at the cursed Wendigo.

"Your hatred is valid. I have caused the deaths of many over the century's. Though I hold no ill will towards Seven." As the Wendigo said those words Seven regained control of her body.

"Your not leaving me right?" Seven's voice trembled as she started to silently cry.

"No, at least not until you can take care of your self. After that if you never need to find me I work for the church of light. Just go there and ask for me, okay?" Lilly got down to Seven's level and gave the young girl a hug. It only lasted for a few minutes when Seven pulled away from her.

"Why was the Leonin with master then?" Seven asked as she tilted her head with confusion evident on her face.

"He is to be your teacher in all things physical. Think combat, athletics, and stealth." Lilly explained as she looked at Seven. She noticed that Seven had gotten taller. Lilly also noticed that Seven had access to more mana then she had the day before.

'Is she growing faster than normal children?' Lilly was slightly confused as to why Seven was growing faster than other dragon-kin she taught. She knew that they grew faster than any other race but Seven seems to be growing faster than even other dragon-kin.

"Okay." Seven nodded at Lilly's words.

Satisfied with the child's confirmation, Lily removes her hand from Sevens shoulder and goes to stand up before Seven's, no, the Wendigo's voice sounded out in her head.

"Teach Seven well." Lilly wanted to reply, but the connection that was created by the Wendigo was destroyed just as quickly as it appeared.

Shaking her head Lilly walked to the door. Just as she started to open door to 7's room. The Head Researcher rushed into the room, shoving past Lily with the Leonin walking in behind him. The Head Researcher then looked at 7, scoffs, and turned to look at Lily with a questioning gaze.

"Seven, has calmed down, as you can see." Lilly was pissed. She knew that Lucas wanted to move on to more experiments, but he also needed to explain to Seven who the Leonin is and why they there.

"As i was saying. 7 you will now train under both Lilly and Syba here. Lilly will teach you magics, and Syba will teach you combat and stealth." Lucas said this as he turned to Seven. Looking at the beast in front of himself. Lucas couldn't figure out why Lilly treated 7 like it was anything more than a beast.

Lucas left the room after saying those words. Syba and Lilly looked at each other, small amounts of mana trailing between the two of them as a form of communication. It was a technique that could only be used by those who are linked to each other. Syba and Lilly are linked to each other due to them being members of the Church of Light. All members of the Church of Light are linked by a Baptism ritual. A ritual that would link two or more people together in order for them to communicate using mana. This ritual also let the clergyman track one another's location.

Lilly and Syba were conversing over a schedule for Seven. They were trying to figure out a balance to her routine. When the door to Seven's room opened and a new face presented its self. While at the same time being completely hidden.

The new comer didn't say anything word. Just walked up to Seven and placed a had on her forehead. Only for three magics to reject the new comer. One white as snow. The other seemed to be the stars them selves. The third and shadow the seemed to swallow the light, yet it wasn't the absence of light. Nor the overwhelming darkness. But something in between. If one had to put a colour to it it would be closer to a dark violet than black or grey.

Then, as if the light its self ceased to exist, everything went black. So black that the three people in the room couldn't see themselves. It then disappeared just as quickly as it came.

When the threes eyes adjusted everyone could see that there was now a tattoo that went from her shoulder to her wrist. The tattoo looked to be tribal in nature. Runes composed most of the tattoo ran up and down her arm. Almost as if it were alive. In the middle of the tattoo there was a depiction of a black hole that absorbed all light that touched it. The black hole occasionally pulsed with faint, yet, inescapable blackness.

Lilly and Syba looked at each other then at Sevens right arm and told to each other through the link.

'Curse.' Both Lilly and Syba recognized the tattoo as a curse. Though, of what kind they did not know.

Shortly after Seven was cursed they got a training regiment scheduled for her. In the mornings they will do physical training and the afternoons magical training. That would have to start in the morrow however, as they needed to have a talk with Lucas.

The duo soon there after walked into Lucas's office ready to explain the latest development regarding Seven. Only to find the mysterious figure standing in the room already. The figure wore a black hooded cloak that covered them entirely leaving only the eyes to glow an ominous red. That scene felt impossible due to the curse it carried. A curse that nullified all light that touched it. Yet there was a hint of colour. It was then that Lucas and the cursed being looked their way.

"This must be about the curse that was placed on 7. It is a lesser curse of Anti-light. Though it is a more heavily modified version of the curse that will allow the user to augment the curse. Essentially allowing them more control over the curse. It also plashes less strain on ones soul. Does that cover your potential questions?" Lucas seemed to have a sixth sense for what Lilly and Syba would ask. Though Lucas knows that the duo see 7 as a child rather than a toy to be used as its master sees fit.

"That does it for me. I don't know about Lilly." Lucas answered all questions Syba had. Syba didn't know as much as Lilly, as such he didn't have as many questions as Lilly had.

"Is this curse tied to her body, or soul?" That was the only question Lilly had for Lucas. Lilly knew that Seven's soul was in a weekend state due to the experiments. She wanted to know if this curse was going to endanger Seven or not.

"... it ... is ... tied ... to body ... tied ... to soul ... as ... soul ... grows." The darkness spoke. Its voice, neither masculine nor feminine, was raspy and full of authority. It spoke in between and around its self. As if hundreds of voices were conversing. Every word it spoke came with an echo of itself. It paused after every word as if it was unfamiliar with the language.

"I understand that you are either the origin or working with the origin of this curse. But I still remain skeptical. For now I will take you a your word." There was a hidden threat in Lilly's tone. She didn't want to take the thing at its word, but Lucas seemed to accept that answer. So Lilly had no choice but to accept it.

Just as Syba and Lilly were about to leave Lucas spoke.

"7 will need some education it will be up to then two of you to figure out who that would be." After Lucas finished speaking, Syba and Lilly left in order to get started on their task. Though they didn't know how catastrophic their choice of educator would have been.
