Chapter 39 - Chapter 39 Where is My Fisherman?

February 20, 2025 Author: Passing Time Traveler  Chapter 39 Where is My Fisherman?

"It's hot, but don't you think it looks cool?"

"It just makes you look silly here!" The young man who struck up a conversation with Bai Mu complained about his behavior.

Elsewhere, Bai Mu could wear whatever he wanted, but here it was a place to display youth and physique. Dressing so conservatively would only make people think he was crazy and worry about the heat.

"Haha, let me change my clothes."

Bai Mu laughed twice. He hadn't hitched a ride on the source of the alternate dream, but language wasn't a problem here.

Since communication wasn't an issue, things would be much easier. Looking at the signs, Bai Mu roughly knew where he was. He

'd never been abroad before, but after transmigrating, he'd done it so easily, twice!

Exchanging gold for money wasn't difficult; he could just find a bank here, right?

After leaving the coast, Bai Mu easily did this. He didn't know the local gold price, but he needed some start-up capital.

This should be considered standard operating expenses from the Bureau. Unless a Dreamwalker is initially placed in an extremely harsh environment, they should at least be able to live comfortably in a normal setting.

The gold the Bureau gave him, after being converted to US dollars, is enough for a few days of vacation. As for investigating the situation in this world, that's even simpler—just find a computer and connect to the internet.

The convenience of modern networks shouldn't be wasted. No biohazards, no other abnormalities—Bai Mu actually quite likes this kind of world.

The prerequisite is no financial pressure; otherwise, burdened by that, going to any alternate dream would be like working like a slave, or perhaps becoming a notorious bandit. The only problem

is the stark contrast between time in the alternate dream and reality. It's unclear how large this time difference is.

For the Dreamwalker, time spent in the alternate dream is real, not a complete acceleration of life. They experience everything, but from the perspective of those in reality, the Dreamwalker does indeed appear to be constantly in accelerated life mode.

When Bai Mu returned to the shore, he was dressed in clothes appropriate for the environment, enjoying the sunshine in his swim trunks.

Hot young women were enjoying their youth on the beach; life here was much more comfortable than in Rota City.

It was a pity he could only stay temporarily. What if the Dream Walkers disappeared into the Otherworld and never returned?

Bai Mu thought about it and decided to figure it out when he got back. The Otherworld had existed for so long; something similar must have happened before.

The Otherworld was brought by the Source of Otherworlds; if the Source disappeared, how could the Dream Walkers continue to be here?

Sipping his juice, Bai Mu admired the young women while his gaze inadvertently swept over some muscular men on the shore.

He himself was also quite muscular, and seeing others with similar physiques made him want to take a second look. However, his purpose in training was to achieve a good physique, not to earn money for competitions.

He wasn't here just to look; he was still trying to find the Source of Otherworlds. When people hitched a ride into the Otherworld, they would be affected by the Source, meaning those people could directly see the Source and benefit from its influence.

The normal intervention of dream walkers requires finding the source of the strange dreams.

But no matter how they enter, they will not be too far from the source of the strange dreams.     When they entered the alternate dream, they were near the source of the dream, and could only enter from that vicinity. Therefore, unless they were particularly unlucky, the dream walkers could usually complete their investigations in two or three days.

If they couldn't find the source of the dream, they could only investigate other information within the dream. The best investigation results, besides obtaining information from within the dream, also included confirming the state of the dream source; the latter was more important.

Bai Mu was initially located near the coast, so the dream source was most likely there as well.

Unless he was extremely unlucky and encountered a role-playing type of dream source, the rest of the situation could be solved by matching appearances.

Role-playing type dream sources cause the appearance within the dream to be out of sync with reality, so the appearance of the real-world dream source cannot be used as a reference.

Other situations do not have this problem. If the dream source within the dream undergoes certain changes, the dream source in reality will also show corresponding changes.

Injuries such as missing limbs will be synchronized to the dream source in reality, but death will not.

If the source within the dream dies, the dream will immediately collapse and go out of control.

Dark-skinned, a fisherman… there probably aren't any fish to catch here, right? Bai Mu pondered why he was on the coast, glancing at a young woman passing by with an impressive butt.

This is the west coast, a great place for recreation, what fish could there be?

Even if that fisherman from the Otherworldly Dream Source had a strange dream because of his love for fishing, he shouldn't be in a place like this. Bai Mu would accept it if it were a scene from "On the Coast" in a more suitable location.

In a place like this? His purpose probably isn't just to catch fish, is it? Or is it for some other kind of fish?

Bai Mu smiled at a young woman staring at him from a distance. Hmm… some other kind of fish.

The blonde woman who had been spotted didn't seem to care, instead continuing to scrutinize Bai Mu. Here, besides having fun, isn't everyone just here to see what they like to see?

Dressed like this, how could he not let people look?

"Where is my fisherman?" Setting aside his half-finished juice, Bai Mu chose to investigate over striking up a conversation.

He doesn't even have a passport here, so don't even think about causing any trouble. Next time he encounters another dream, he might be able to hitch a ride and get local status. This time, he should just focus on the investigation.

After all, this is his first time cooperating with the Another Dream Management Bureau. If he does things well, he can easily access the 'makeshift' area there.

As for the accelerated life, Bai Mu doesn't feel like he's losing out. He may have less time in reality, but the time he spends in the other dream is just as significant.

Besides, after leaving the other dream, he can get the mist to enhance himself, so it's definitely not a loss.

The beautiful West Coast, like something out of a movie, suddenly became chaotic. Some tourists were running around in a panic, while others couldn't resist watching the commotion.

Bai Mu vaguely heard shouts in the distance.

It sounded like there was a shark attack? The young lady who was about to approach him also panicked. She looked towards the ocean and decisively joined the group away from the beach. Between being approached by a stranger and her safety, she naturally chose to prioritize her own safety.

"No..." Bai Mu's eyes widened. He sat up, leaning forward to see as far as possible. What was with the shark appearing out of nowhere?

Was the fisherman who had this strange dream really here to catch normal fish? Grabbing the box beside him, Bai Mu approached the shore; he wanted to see what was going on.

Even the most powerful shark has to stay in the water, right?
