Chapter 30 - Chapter 30 Wild Dream Walker

Ailer's joining the Dream Processing Bureau surprised Bai Mu. He wondered if he had received the same treatment when he didn't immediately leave the sewers.

Don't think that just because you've transmigrated, you're bad about the local government; at least you're officially part of the system. For a newcomer like him, being officially part of the system saves a lot of trouble.

Besides, this world isn't ancient anymore; being officially part of the system is equivalent to directly integrating into this world.

However, after selling his phone, Bai Mu had other ideas. Since he could bring back quite a few things from the dreams, working independently wouldn't be bad, right?

Bai Mu asked with great interest, "What do you want with me?"

Ailer shook his head: "I don't know. My superior asked us about you. At first, he wasn't very interested in you, but then he seemed to have discovered something and started paying more attention to you."

Discovered what? Probably realized he had a virus?

Looking at the pensive White Curtain, Eller was also considering some things. As a gold digger, one must always learn to seize opportunities. Although Borei wanted to find White Curtain, this search wasn't the kind where he was treated as a 'criminal.'

It was more about being wary of something. As participants in the sewer dream incident, even after joining the Dream Management Bureau, they still had limited access to many things, but they could access the records of the sewer dreams.

Because he was so concerned about White Curtain, Eller had specifically reviewed the files he could access. Based on the information in the files, he made further judgments.

White Curtain must have brought something special out of the dream.

Initially, he thought of a virus, but that thing had been destroyed by Thor, so there was no way it could have been brought out. The most likely possibility was research data on the virus.

When reporting some dream information to Borei, Eller emphasized that the virus they were carrying had been destroyed by Thor, but Borei was still paying attention to this matter. So what else could it be besides research data on the virus?

"How about letting your superior talk to me? I think I have something they're really interested in."

"No problem, I'll contact my superior right now."

Under Bai Mu's gaze, Eller took out something resembling a mobile phone.

"This is also a cell phone… um, something like a cell phone, but unfortunately I couldn't bring the one I got in the alternate dream." Eller explained the object in his hand. He had encountered cell phones in the alternate dream; they could be taken from zombies.

The 'cell phone' he was carrying now was much bulkier than the one in the alternate dream, and its functions were very limited, but it was perfectly adequate for communication.

Not long after, Borei rushed to the bar. For the past two days, the people from the Alternate Dream Management Bureau had been searching for Bai Mu.

However, Bai Mu had no record in Rota City; apart from Matt and his group, almost no one else had seen him, making the search difficult.

Eller brought him good news. After receiving Eller's information, he came here immediately, without even bringing anyone else.

Dreamwalkers are not an illegal entity; they are more like mercenaries, and Rota City, along with other places, recognizes the existence of mercenaries.

Some dreamwalkers even register with the local government, accepting payment to participate in difficult-to-solve alternate dream events. Of course, they bear all the risks themselves, and there's no compensation for death.

The advantage is that their gains in alternate dreams are essentially their own spoils; as long as they can bring them out, the dreamwalkers have the right to dispose of them as they see fit.

Dreamwalkers at the Alternate Dream Management Bureau have sufficient protection, but their acquisitions in alternate dreams are subject to managed processing.

This management doesn't require them to hand over all acquired alternate dream items, but rather that overly dangerous or unusual items must be turned over; other items can be retained or handed over as they see fit.   You'll never believe why I moved to… Sukkur  Like Eller's pistol, that's not among the items that must be handed over. However, if he brought out a bio-virus, as a member of the Processing Bureau, he's not allowed to keep it.

Handing over items will earn corresponding rewards or other merits, which can be exchanged for other things within the Processing Bureau.

The Processing Bureau has been in contact with Dreamwalkers for many years and possesses quite a few Dreamwalker items.

Bai Mu is considered by the Processing Bureau to be a Dreamwalker who hasn't registered locally. He's not a criminal, so when Bo Lei came here, he didn't assume he was a dangerous individual.

Even if he has a high probability of possessing a bio-virus, several days have passed. If Bai Mu really wanted to cause trouble, Rota City would already be in trouble.

Perhaps he sold the virus to someone else, but the Processing Bureau needs to know where the virus was sent and who obtained it, unless it has already left Rota City.

Otherwise, the Processing Bureau cannot relax its vigilance until this matter is clarified.

If Bai Mu doesn't have a bio-virus, then everyone can continue to maintain a peaceful state.

Bai Mu's first impression of Borei was quite different from what he had imagined. This was someone who found reality boring and was seeking thrills…

"Hello, my name is Borei Bennister, a mid-level agent in the Disposal Bureau." Borei first handed a business card to Bai Mu.

"My name is Bai Mu." Putting away the business card, Bai Mu glanced at Eller and said to Borei, "I have something rather unusual here, but I'm unsure about the local Disposal Bureau, so I've left it unprocessed."

Borei frowned slightly. He said, "Don't worry, the Dream Disposal Bureau in Rota City has always had a very good reputation, and they also accept some difficult-to-handle items."

His words were the same as what Bai Mu had learned from Lily; the Dream Disposal Bureau had a special business dealing with 'controlled items'.

Seeing Bai Mu still pondering, Bo Lei continued, "If it were any other dream event, the matter would be considered closed once the Bureau cleaned up the scene after the dream ended, unless the dream event involved smuggling, terrorism, or other such factors.

The Bureau has already investigated Thorn's case. His death was an accident, not related to illegal smuggling or terrorism, but his dream was of a very dangerous type, involving a virus-related dream, which always requires close monitoring."

Bo Lei explained Thorn's dream situation in detail, indicating that it wasn't the Bureau making a mountain out of a molehill or overemphasizing a dream event that didn't have a large-scale impact. They were worried that the virus in the dream might affect reality

. In the previous conversation, Bai Mu had also revealed some information that Bo Lei wanted to know: this young man was an outsider dreamwalker. If he wasn't a dreamwalker trying to evade capture, then Rota City would actually welcome such talent.

Cultivating a dreamwalker is not easy. Even if Bai Mu wasn't from the Bureau, wild dreamwalkers could always be found and used when needed in Rota City.

Dreamwalkers are human too; they need to eat. The fact that wild Dreamwalkers have settled in Rota City represents a significant talent pool there.

Moreover, since they've already met, the Bureau still has a chance to win them over.
