Chapter Four: The demons walking among us

HATE, HATE, HATE—that was the first word that was engraved into my consciousness, and who was that hatred for? It was born for the killer of my mother, the person who engulfed my existence into flames of misery and watched me burn, watched me beg, and the person who did that was me, Valen Veridian!

"I...I was the reason my mother died," young Valen thought to himself.

Valen continued narrating his tale.

I was only four years old when he held the blade for the first time in my hand; at that time I felt as if I was above all, above laws, as if I was God, a God who could crush ants below him with a step.

But instantly after that the heavens punished me for looking too much above the earth, too far into the heavens that I couldn't reach.

At that same moment

*Whoosh,* a punch sent Valen flying into the arena walls.

Then an anonymous voice spoke: "You stupid prick, you dare wield a sword after killing our mother. I am the one who will take revenge for my mother after killing you." said the voice with pride and rage.

The figure was a teen in his early 14s; he looked very large, with his muscles still not fully developed. Rather, he was more tall and lean-looking. His eyes were the color of the skies and oceans, while his hair glimmered like gold. His white skin blended in with his features perfectly. He was wearing white and golden training attire with a large heavy sword tied on his back in a scabbard.

Valen Got up from the ground, cough, *cough*.

Blood dripped from his mouth.

He looked in the direction of the voice and saw his 3rd eldest brother, Milover Veridian, standing there with a heavy sword on his back.

He continued to cough blood and looked at his brother and spoke, "What did I do to deserve this? Why am I not the one who killed my mom? Stop lying, Milover." Tears rolled up from Valen's eyes as he was talking to his brother.

Hearing his words, Milover smiled and said, "Of course you don't remember it; you were too young to remember yet old and cruel enough to kill your mother. Aren't you a special case?" He continued taunting, "Oh right, you are. You are the chosen one, the one born with two Celestial Tier blessings, but still the power had to be borne by your mother, and of course she couldn't bear the birth of the chosen one, and of course it was you who took away our mother from us. You are no human but a monster."

Hearing his words, Valen's heart was crushed; a wave of thoughts flooded his mind: "Was he really a monster, or was he the killer of his mother?"

Valen was thinking to himself until Milover appeared in front of him and smashed him into the arena walls again. Shattering the whole wall, he continued to hit Valen again and again.

But near the arena on the watchtower stood a person watching all of this.

*Thump*, *thump*, a man approached him.

The man, upon reaching near to the presence, spoke, "My lord, are you really going to let young master Milover kill your treasure?"

Then Diable Veridian spoke and said, "Of course not. Who do you think that child is? Even though it is the first time he wielded a sword, if the Gods have really blessed him with the most powerful rank blessings, he will destroy Milover today. Milover is just the stepping stone for that monster who killed my love."

The scene shifted. Milover looked at Valen's face; it was bloody. His face was swollen and in a miserable condition; his facial bones started to expose themselvesfrom the skull.

Milover looked at him and spoke in a cold voice, "Why don't you just die, you monster?"

Valen started to stare at him blankly, with no pain in his eyes and no emotions.

Upon looking into his eyes, Milover's rage boiled once again, and he spoke, "Why the hell are you still looking at me, you bastard? Just die." As he was saying those words, he picked up his heavy sword from his back and swung it at Valen's head, attempting to crush his skull.

Suddenly Valen stopped the heavy sword with his bare hand and spoke, "Why do I have to do it? "When you are the one who is weaker than me, you should be the one to crawl on the ground, you bug. How dare you defy your king?"

Valen stopped the sword with his bare hand and uppercut his chin, then he got up and said, "You are in the peak of the 1st realm, right?"

"Let me show you how a real genius like me, while staying in the mortal realm, still beats you."

Milover got up from the ground and started laughing. "Hahahahaha, do you really think I'm a joke, you fricking prick? Fine, then don't you dare use any of my blessings or my special techniques. I'm also blocking my energy cores and restricting myself to the mortal layer."

After that, Milover fulfilled his conditions and got ready to fight Valen. "Are you ready, brat?"

"Begin," said the instructor.

Valen rushed at Milover like a hurricane; one after another strike followed.

Meanwhile, Milover, who was much more experienced, was getting pushed, which he didn't like at all. He tried to gain the upper hand in everything, but the difference in talent was starting to show itself.

Eventually Valen gained the upper hand and knocked the sword out of Milover's hands.

As the instructor was about to say "Finish,"
