Chapter 1 - Rebirth

Chapter 1

The weather was sunny, and a cool breeze was blowing. The sounds of cars and people filled the city streets, which somehow felt annoying. Renzai was strolling slowly through the city, glancing at the shops. He was wearing a brown coat and hoping to find something cheap to buy with the pocket money he had on him.

Suddenly, his eyes caught an old bookstore. The shop's window was dusty, making it hard to see inside. The walls of the store were painted red. Renzai stepped closer and tried to peek through the glass. Then, gently, he entered the store and began looking at the books. The smell of dust filled the air, as if the place hadn't been cleaned for a long time. The store was small, and few people ever came inside; most just walked past it.

Renzai moved slowly among the shelves, examining the books carefully. He even spotted some volumes that seemed impossible to find elsewhere. Suddenly, one book caught his attention.

"What's this? Looks interesting…"

He ran his hand over the cover and read its title: Lumivahn. The book was thick and heavy, with a green cover that shimmered golden in the light.

As Renzai was inspecting the book, a voice came from behind him.

"Has this book caught your eye? Not many people come into my store. This is an antique—you can have it for yourself."

Renzai turned to look at the old man, then back at the book, and said,

"Of course, thank you very much."

After thanking him, he gently left the shop, glancing once more at the book's cover.

"I think I'll need the whole day to read this," he murmured.

8:00 PM

Renzai was sitting in his room. Darkness had fallen outside, and the light from his bedside lamp illuminated the book in his hands. He was completely absorbed, imagining himself as the main character—a hero striving to become one of the gods across seven lands. He had read half the book. Despite its large size, it felt like he had spent the entire day doing nothing else.

Gradually, he grew tired, and his eyes felt heavy. He gently closed the book, rubbed his eyes, and got up to go to the kitchen for a glass of water. But after drinking, a strange nausea and headache overtook him. Slowly, he began losing awareness.

His gaze fell on the window, and he saw his reflection—his eyes were glowing red. He stepped back but lost his balance, bumping into the cabinet.

The colors around him blurred and twisted, everything spinning as if the world itself were turning. He tried to stand, but he couldn't move.

"What's happening…? My voice!"

His voice had deepened, and his body was changing. The colors and sounds swirled around him. He heard the sound of a river and felt grass beneath him. He closed his eyes for a moment, and after a brief silence, he heard the chirping of sparrows.

When he slowly opened his eyes, he was confronted with something he didn't expect—he was in the middle of a forest, yet everything felt oddly familiar. Carefully, he stood up, feeling strange, as if he weren't himself. He looked around, dizzy, but the place seemed very familiar.

He slowly approached a river and looked into the water, expecting to see his reflection—but instead, he saw the story's main character staring back at him.

"What?! My face… why does it look like this?!"

Short green hair, crimson eyes that shone like rubies, a calm yet striking face. He stepped away from the river, standing still, murmuring to himself.

"Well… let's stay calm. I've somehow suddenly become the main character of the novel. That's… unusual. But most likely, this is the land of Nira?"

He could smell the fresh scent of rain and grass. Sunlight streamed through the forest, and droplets of rain still clung to the trees and grass. Renzai tried to piece everything together in his mind—then he noticed another version of himself standing a meter away.

"Wha—another me?!"

At the same time, three more copies appeared behind him, their faces distorted and strange. The copy in front began to melt, losing shape.

"Why is this happening?!"

Renzai was completely confused, struggling to make sense of the situation, when suddenly a voice echoed through the wind:

"So, you've just entered this world. You can't even control your powers yet! Who knows how long you'll survive!"
